Wawona, California
Inside Yosemite National Park. River views from every room and both decks, jump rock at the swimming hole on the river, hot tub overlooking the river, cabin woodsy feel, hot showers after a day of swimming or hiking to the falls in the neighborhood, great Blu-ray movie collection with huge 4K TV in both living rooms and wifi. 3 bedroom, sleeps 10, 2 bathrooms with showers. Wood burning fireplace, gas grille for bbq. Very special place on the river in Yosemite National park!
We love everything
Nice cabin and spectacular view
Cabin is in a great location inside Wawona, nestled right next to the Merced river with beautfiul viewings from each window and the various balconies. The kitchen was stocked with whatever you needed, including pots/pans, sugar, flour, utensils, zip lock bags, etc.. We got our daily groceries from the Pine Market, which had everything we needed (milk, eggs, meat, cereal, etc..).. The parking was ok, it's a split parking area between this cabin and the neighboring cabin by a fence. It was a bit difficult to manage with a larger vehicle as there's no space to turn around but we made it work. Our neighbors accidentally parked in our spot (even though it's clearly marked) but they moved as soon as we brought it to their attention, thankfully they were at their cabin. We stayed during Labor Day weekend and it was extremely loud from people partying next door and other neighbors nearby. Even with the windows shut, we still had to put on noise in our room in order to sleep. If you're going during a busy weekend or if noise keeps you awake, bring ear plugs! The river and jumping rock were one of the highlights of our trip, and it's a popular spot with everyone in the area so there were quite a few people there when we went. The hot tub was amazing and we loved the heated outdoor shower to hose off after playing in the river and being in the hot tub. Fair warning that the stairs leading downstairs in the cabin are narrow and steep. Also the path leading down to the river is also steep, it's not paved the entire way down so if you're wearing flip flops be careful! The washer and dryer were great with having a family. It was a really hot weekend and the home doesn't have AC (we keep our house pretty cold) so it was pretty hot with just the ceiling fans on, we used the moveable fans and kept those on us when we could but it was hot! All in all, we had a really great trip.
We lost our weekend due to a fire. Wawona, Wawona Road (Hwy 41), and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias are closed due to a fire. Nothing to say about property because never get in.
We could not have enjoyed our stay more. The location is perfect - we woke up to the sounds of the river flowing below us each morning. The hot tub, grill, and view of the river make this cabin the best spot in Wawona. Our family of 5 had plenty of space and found the property clean, well-appointed, with everything working well. All beds were comfortable. The next time we come to Yosemite, this will be the first place we search for.
Right on the river with direct access, an outdoor shower and hot tub with prime river views. 2 decks and an outdoor grill kept us outside all day and night. We arrived before 4pm, so we explored Mariposa Grove before check in. It's about a 40 minute drive to Yosemite Valley and we recommend heading in early. Bonus if you're back for an afternoon swim!
We enjoyed our short stay here. We got a chance to use the rafts in the swimming spot. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was moderately stocked with all of the basics. Some additional silverware would have been helpful so we didn’t have to wash after every meal. And maybe some instructions for the gas oven, as we had to guess how to use it, never having used a gas oven before. We were worried about no AC, but even at the height of August, it cools down nicely for sleeping. Stars are AMAZING at night from the deck. Thank you for a great stay!
This property is in a great location for Yellowstone. We really loved the back of the property, as we could stroll along trails next to the river, and the rock formations and scenery were tops. The kitchen and laundry are all up to date and very functional. The bedrooms were comfortable, and the 2 sitting rooms upstairs were great---one with river views, and the other cozy and next to the fireplace. Be aware that the bedrooms are all downstairs via a fairly steep staircase. There is one shower/toilet/sink combo downstairs. There is a master bath upstairs, which was nice, but of course not easily accessed from the bedrooms. Access to the river level is partially taken care of with large stone steps, but after the steps stop, it is a very steep slope to get the rest of the way down to the water. We found using sticks to help balance was useful. A nice improvement to this property would be steps all the way to the river level. Easy access to dining and a wonderful store just a bit down the road. Not too far to Glacier Point or the Valley. Great scenic drives! We enjoyed our stay here! Absolutely wonderful scenery!
