Wimberley, Texas
Paper Moon is a lovely log cabin nestled among oaks and elms in the quiet countryside, just 1.5 miles from downtown Wimberley. You’ll cross a scenic low water crossing over Pierce Creek, a wet-weather creek that runs through the front of the property, as you drive in. This spacious cabin was lovingly hand-built in 1985, and has been recently renovated by the current owners while retaining its rustic charm.
Paper Moon is ideal for family and friend gatherings as well as romantic escapes. Shopping and dining in Wimberley is only 5 minutes away, or you can just stay at the cabin and watch the deer graze as you enjoy your morning coffee from the porch, have a family BBQ on the covered deck, enjoy the hot tub and fire pit, or snuggle up by the fireplace. This charming log home with 3 bedrooms (2 private, 1 loft) and two bathrooms features a hot tub, outdoor seating, a fire pit, a large covered deck, charcoal grill and hammock.
The name Paper Moon comes from a popular portrait fad that began in the late 19th century. It was an inexpensive and fun way to have one’s portrait taken and paper moon booths were often set up at fairs and carnivals. We enjoy these vintage portraits which often depict folks with big grins having a good time, unlike traditional portraits of the time. As you meander from room to room in our charming cabin you’ll find vintage paper moon photos hanging on the walls, including some sent in by previous guests.
This eco-conscious cabin offers: recycling, eco-friendly soaps, detergents & cleaning products, recycled premium paper products and a reverse-osmosis drinking water system (no need for plastic bottles).
Pet policy:
Up to two friendly, leashed pets are welcome. Our pet fee is $50/pet. Please crate pets that are left alone. If you have more than two pets, please discuss before booking.
Please note: the water at the Pierce Creek low water crossing is designed to gently flow over the road, however, the water can rise during periods of extremely heavy rain so please use good judgment before crossing. This generally doesn't happen more than a couple of times a year, and we find that it typically recedes to a normal level within an hour or two of the rain stopping. We're always happy to pop over and take a look if you're unsure about the water level.
We needed a long weekend getaway with minimal electronics to celebrate Christmas - and your cabin provided. While we didn't use the hot tub, we enjoyed the fire pit one night with ghost stories and beverages. Your dining table was the perfect size for working jigsaw puzzles. Thank you for letting us add our daughter-in-law and toddler grandson at the last minute. He loved the stairs!! We relaxed, laughed, and went into town only once. We were only a mile or so from town and yet felt we were in a remote country location with bright stars. Thank you again and again for your quick responses and loan of your wonderful cabin. It was perfect!
Beautiful setting and comfortable home. We appreciated the hot tub and little Christmas tree they set up for us. We had a great time! Thank you!
Great place close to town. Loved hot tub and fireplace.. loved that it was close to town..
Great location and cabin for a girls’ weekend.
Great place to stay. Conveniently close to everything
Was a good stay, property as advertised and clean. More road noise than I was hoping for, but only heard when outside. Check-in process was a little challenging but not sure where that responsibility lies. There were no details on check-in/door code within my confirmation emails or app (I checked and had 2 other people in my party check), so not sure if there was a problem because I only booked a couple days out and the typical sequence of communication didn't occur. However, the homeowner was responsive and communicative once I reached out about not having access details 30 mins from check-in time.
We intended this getaway to be one of relaxation and the accomadations certainly met our expectations to accomplish our goal. We would definately stay there again.
The property was gorgeous and very private. We loved our stay.
Great private location. So peaceful.
Everything was great with this nice little cabin, very secluded and quiet
We stayed at Papermoon for our mini moon and it was wonderful! Very cute touches around the cabin, a great hot tub and very close to downtown Wimberley. Would definitely recommend!
The Paper Moon Cabin is comfortable, tucked in the woods, private but close to the little town of Wimberley. The beds were very comfortable, lots of bedding if needed, 2 full bathrooms, 3 bedrooms and a great kitchen. The living room is comfortable and on a cold night a cast iron fire place for warming. The hot tub and fire pit is a great adder especially after a full day of fun. I highly recommend staying at the Paper Moon and plan on staying there again. The owners are easy to get in touch with and provide all the information you need. Be sure to look at the picture book on the kitchen cabinet of when the cabin was being built. Really cool to see.
Property was clean and well kept. Nice boutiques right up the road. Just overall a peaceful getaway.
The property is adorable.
Fabulous place to stay. The cabin is pretty and clean. Excellent amenities for a larger group (which we were not). LOVED IT! I think proximity to major road kept wildlife away, so if you are looking for that, it might come up a little short.
Beautiful property, peaceful setting. Wonderful host. Immaculate property.
We enjoyed the hot tub and the front porch. Very relaxing! Unhappy that we could hear road noise when we were outside. Inside was nice, but the stairs were difficult to go up and down. There is only one hand rail and our age group (52+ 92) had a tough time. The beds were very comfortable and with soft sheets. All in all it is a very nice place. Enjoy your stay!
Hello, my boyfriend and I loved this place! It's was nice and quite and the property was well stocked with everything you need. The property owners left the house with directions which made things easy! They provided board games, fire wood and a HOT TUB! So relaxing! Will definitely come again!
Nice quiet getaway for the weekend. Master bedroom upstairs, with steep stairs, was a challenge for us as we are both senior citizens. Couple of miles out of town on a secluded couple of acres. Enjoyed sitting on front porch each morning to drink coffee. This home could easily accommodate six people. Home was clean. Outside of home and hot tub area could stand some freshening up.
This cabin was the perfect combination of vintage cabin feel with all the modern amenities. It had everything we needed (even the charcoal, starter, and lighter fluid!). The grounds are amazing with lots of little spots to enjoy a morning coffee. The inside has a warm, cozy feeling that truly let's you recharge before heading back into the world. It's also only 5 mins away from all the good eats and shopping at Market Square.
We had a great time and loved this lil cabin and the acres it was on. Recommend to anyone wanting a quite get away with a neat lil town just 5 min away
The house perfectly accommodated us and was in a great location for us. I wish there was more lighting in the living area. The beds were comfy. We loved the coffee beans and fresh coffee. We did get in the hot tub early morning (this was June). We talked about possibly returning in the Fall to take advantage of the fire pit and really put that hot tub to use. We were very impressed with the stats on what all it took to build the house!
Loved the location and property. It was well maintained and a great location near town but nicely tucked away. Definitely will be back.
Such a great experience and all the things we needed for our stay! Would definitely stay again.
