The 'Eagles Nest River Cabin' towers over a beautiful stretch of the Shenandoah River where the water meanders and swirls over a long stretch of underwater ledges and rocks. The 75' span of private river frontage offers steps and a floating dock for easy access to the river for swimming, wading, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, or just lounging in a chair. The fishing is the best around as the river offers a healthy population of small and large mouth bass. Waterfowl and other birds are abundant (over 50 species documented) and bald eagles are occasionally spotted. There is a public landing and parking at the bridge just up river providing for float trip opportunities down to the property. 2 canoes included at nominal fee so you can either canoe the Shenandoah River or just stretch back in a tube and float your day away (tubes available at reasonable price at Luray Super Walmart).

Sleeping 8, this cabin is beautiful inside and out representing the quintessential vacation cabin with white knotty pine interior, vaulted ceiling, 2 bedrooms, 2 lofts, a fully equipped kitchen and a huge front porch that overlooks the entire stretch of river. At the base of the steps of the cabin is a charcoal grill, table and chairs for easy outdoor grilling and dining. The spacious side and front yards offer plenty of room for group games such as volleyball, croquet, corn hole and horse shoes. The back of cabin is in view of the historic Norfolk Southern railroad. The freight trains rumble by the cabin without whistle approximately 3 to 5 times per day.

Centrally located just 15 miles from Massanutten Ski & Indoor/Outdoor Water Park Resort and historic Luray featuring Luray Caverns the most popular cave in Eastern America and an internationally acclaimed destination. The Shenandoah National Park is also internationally acclaimed featuring breathtaking views from the Skyline Drive (Swift Run Gap access point only 17 miles) and various distance trail hikes to waterfalls and other natural attractions.

We hope that you will decide to come visit and firsthand experience all that the Shenandoah Valley Region has to offer and while lodging with us at the Eagles Nest River Cabin. Fun is Waiting!

Lovely, cozy little cabin nestled next to the river. There were four of us, which felt like a perfect amount but the cabin can sleep up to seven, including the futon. Two rooms (four beds) are lofted and the cabin is up a long staircase, so not recommended for those with difficulty climbing stairs. Very clean and hospitable with clear, easy check- in/out instructions and plenty of pots, pans, and dishware. Because it's on stilts the cabin shakes a little when people are moving about but it didn't keep us awake. We had a very pleasant stay!

I spent the weekend with some friends here. The property was really comfortable, fitting 4 of us with no issues. It was nice to lounge around and relax. I took one of the lofts and slept real easy. The nearby train tracks were a surprise, but it was nothing to be bothered by. The local views and scenery were plainly stunning during the autumn time, and there was plenty of trails to take in and explore. After a long day, I was more than happy to return to the cabin, grill, and enjoy some drinks. I highly recommend.

Overall, we had a very nice stay. The host was very accommodating and responsive. The river is beautiful, and we had a lovely canoe outing from the property. There were more dust and cobwebs on high surfaces and in corners than we would have liked, but also, this is a cabin in the woods, so somewhat understandable. The cabin is also across the road from the river, so it’s not exactly “river front”, and we had to be mindful with our kids playing near the road, which has fast-moving cars. Surprisingly, the trains that came by a few times at night and in the morning didn’t bother us at all. The cabin was well stocked with cooking utensils and spices, but it didn’t have paper towels/napkins or anything for storing leftovers like aluminum foil or cling wrap.

This is a great spot to spend time with family or friends. They made great use of the open space with ample seating and provided almost anything you might need. It is cozy and cute and in a great location near the caverns!

This is an amazing spot on the Shenandoah River! We caught so many fish. We even had a fish fry one evening because a couple of the bass we caught were more than 15 in.!The property and house were spacious and clean and well cared for.

If you are looking for luxury, pass this listing by. BUT...if you are looking for a nice enough, clean enough, cozy enough, functional enough cabin with a big front yard, and a LOCATION on the shenandoah river that affords awesome fishing, gorgeous scenery, and short drives to either Luray or Elkton where you can get anything you need, then keep reading. The cabin property includes a little landing/bank area right across the rural road (15 second walk from end of the driveway). Its set up with some chairs and a spot for a campfire. We ended every day there...enjoying the topwater action at dusk and then relaxing by the fire. Fishing from the canoes that can be launched from the dock at the same spot was fantastic too. The cabin itself...bathroom is very small but manageable. Kitchen had everything needed, though some extra microwave safe plates would be welcome. The river is absolutely gorgeous at this location. Slow moving...relaxing. Smallmouth abundant.15 minutes or so from everything needed and tons of options for outdoor everything nearby. The location is amazing. The house IS on stilts...so it moves a little sometimes- if that will bother you, move along. The freight trains come by at house level and very close to the house. Its neat..but if that will scare you, move along. If you desire a comfortable place from which to enjoy all of what is outside the door and nearby, youll enjoy your stay here!

I saw a few bugs in bathroom and kitchen area, and I saw ants in all rooms. The Major things is too noisy to sleep at morning because trains passed by just behind the bedroom windows, too close, and very loud. Except these two things, p

We had 3 16 year olds, 12 and 19 year old plus my boyfriend and myself stayed here for 5 days. The train through the back yard was awesome, the beautiful river, private dock and fire pit across the street was perfect. Having the kids crossing the road was really a non issue for us since they are older. I was worried about sharing one bathroom but we made out just fine also not having a TV worried me but turned out to be great. Got us to spend time together and looking for the next thing to do. The lofts did need fans but with it being 105 degrees each day they were still livable with the AC on. We had the most amazing week. Beautiful scenery every where you turn. Walmart and food Lion about 15 minutes away so perfect. Owners were very responsive. For as many people as we had I was surprised how quickly we got into a rhythm in a smaller space. It was great.

My family and I stayed at the cabin starting Christmas Day. We enjoyed our time overall and would love to come stay again but here a few things we wish we knew before coming. The cabin does not come with any paper products (toilet paper, paper towels,) and the nearest store is between 10-20 minutes away. Before coming please be aware to either stop on the way in or bring these with you. The property does not have any tv’s which in the summertime I’m sure is not an issue but we stayed in the winter when it would be ideal to relax and watch a movie indoors. The property photos are slightly out dated and do not contain a lot of the same furniture. The furniture that is in the living is not comfortable at all and we needed to sit in the dinning room most of our trip. The only issue is because of the lay out of the cabin this made it extremely hard to move around the kitchen. If it is raining or damp at all please be advised the stairs are EXTREMELY slippery, not only did one of my family members slip going down the stairs but I also slipped and I am pregnant. I would recommend bringing your own dishes as a lot of the dishes at the cabin were cracked and not safe to use. Overall, we enjoyed the cabin but wish we knew these things before we went. The cabin has great bones but just needs a few updates to make for a more enjoyable and comfortable experience.

We had a great stay. The kids totally loved the lofts and the adults loved the campfire and the well-stocked kitchen. With the road between the house and the river we kept the dogs leashed, but this was totally fine by us.

If you don’t mind lack of basic hygiene, pests livimg with you, and eating off dirty dishes, then stay here. There were a couple remnants of toilet paper rolls in the bathroom, so it had to be rationed. While on the topic of bathrooms; there was no soap in the bathroom. There were multiple bottles of sanitizer, but no soap. Speaking of sanitizer. The bottle of sanitizer had a family of dead bugs in it. But the silver lining here is that I learned sanitizer doubles as a pest trap! While on the topic of pests, there was a critter (likely a mouse?) scurrying around the bedroom during the night. It was not the serenade to sleep we had hoped for. While on the topic of sleep, there were no sheets on the beds. There was a fitted sheet and a comforter, but no flat sheet. So apparently we got to sleep under the same unwashed comforter as past guests. And speaking of sharing with past guests, we also got to share their food on the unwashed dishes that still had food remnants on them. Just building our taste palates over here. After such an amazing experience, we decided to forego a 2nd night’s stay and opted to drive home early to nice stay in our home which has basic hygiene products and good pest control. We were escorted off the premises by a swarm of yellow jackets. They were the same fierce protectors that had allegedly been eradicated (per previous reviews/owner responses). This was a giant VRBNo!

This is unique property in a quiet riverside neighborhood. The trains were interesting to watch. It has great river access with calmer water. Plenty of space to spread out and enjoy. Interior space was comfortable and the host was very cordial. Great trip for my husband, pup, and I.
