The neighborhood is very nice, the driveway is interesting but we were made very aware we would need 4x4 before checking in and that was not an issue. The biggest issue we had was the first floor was 52degrees for the 3 nights we stayed. This was an issue due to 2 of the five bedrooms are on the first floor. So my 2 daughters, sister, brother-in-law and nephew froze the first night then slept on the couch and floors in 2nd floor bedroom. The last day we were there the outside temp was in the 50's and the first floor was in the 60's. So I will say if you are planning to stay at this cabin in the cold temperatures don't count the 2 large lower bedrooms as places for you or your guests to sleep.
Was a really nice house. The drive way is very steep and hard to get in and out of. Wish I would of known that before it was to late. You need a all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive car. Also you don’t have control of the thermostat so it got hot and we had to keep messaging the owner to turn it down. Just very inconvenient. Over all the place was good. Lots of room
Clean,great location,host was amazing
We had a very nice stay at this home. Everything was clean and the kids loved the game room and we felt very much at home. The deck does need a bit of repair in spots for safety reasons. We have a walking, curious 14 mo and there are spots on the deck where the wood was off or split. The whole house and deck could use a paint job to prevent future damage. It is too beautiful to let problems set in.
Comfortable home for 8 of us kayakers. Gorgeous Sunset Views from back deck. Hot tub was great after kayaking all day. Great location!
We came to NC for our niece's wedding in Roaring River. The location made for easy access to Boone or Wilksboro, and it was very close to access the Blue Ridge Parkway. We had 4-8 adults stay on any given night. There were plenty of beds and 3 bathrooms allowed for easy prep for our daily events. The view off the deck was wonderful. The best thing is the large gathering space that includes the kitchen, living room and a large dining room table. There was plenty of seating to gather at the table or on the large sectional when hanging out. Although there are some limitations, everything is communicated up front so there were no surprises. Kevin, the manager, responded very quickly to texts which made communication easy. Overall, our stay was great and we would definitely stay here again.
For the price I paid, a little disappointed Let's start with the driveway, very steep and when raining or light snow it's a mud pit. Had to park at the top of the drive and walk down. Dishwasher would not start, dryer did not dry even a small load of laundry. Mice were seen in kitchen. Grill was nasty and could not use. House appearance was larger in pictures. No yard and houses ontop of each other. Went to HOA park the let kids slide down hill in snow, and the HOA president ran us off. She was very rude not nice at all.
Good
My group consisted of 8, 40+ year old guys who went for a relaxing weekend of tabletop/board gaming. Positive: The cabin has a nice layout that accommodates 8 adults very well. Mountain views are nice. The couches, long table, top deck, bedrooms, and open kitchen all felt spacious. We ate all of our meals there and there was a good sense of open flow. The kitchen and bathrooms were stocked appropriately. Beds and couches were comfortable. The owner was attentive when thermostat changes were requested. Negative: You can tell that guests have abused their stays here in the past and that the owners feel the need to micro-manage the rental. We were sent a 'welcome' letter that reads more like a riot act. We had one person in our group that traveled from 7 hours away, but the owner would not allow a one hour early check-in window. That was okay, but we were only provided access codes just a few minutes before check-in time. There are external video cameras monitoring the property. Thermostats are controlled by texting change requests to the owner. There was a notification well after booking that it is the guest's responsibility to haul trash to a dump site or be fined. Google Maps guided us to the location, but it was not a trash dump, and we ended up having to drive all of our garbage bags back home. Maybe we made a mistake. Overall: We were initially a bit concerned about the rental tone, cameras watching us, and the owner's general over site. Especially since we are a just a low risk group of older dudes there to play board games. But once we checked in, everything was smooth and the property was satisfactory. The trash inconvenience was disappointing, but not the end of the world. We had a good stay overall and I would recommend this property.
The property is beautiful and has a wonderful view. It was perfect for our family of 9. Kids had tons of room downstairs and so many fun things to do. Upstairs was a perfect place to enjoy some quiet. Kevin was a perfect host and was quick to take care of every request. We would highly recommend this home.
