We are a group of 12-15 that has a traditional of going to northern Minnesota each early to mid October. Given the larger size of our group, we normally rent a vacation property in cabin country. This was our first time at the Ruth Lake Retreat, and all agreed this was one of the finest locations we've had in years. It's a gorgeous property with a great number of bedrooms wonderful kitchen, pool table / foosball table, complete with amazing lake views. If the property is available next year, we'd definitely consider a return trip!
It was perfect, but only missing one thing... a boat / pontoon rental. The lake was so nice. The sunset was beautiful... would had loved to be out there. We will definitely return though because location was great and house was beautiful and big for our big family! Some minor issues with bathroom doors not closing or locking, but we made it work. It rained twice on us so the pool table & other games along with the many TVs provided kept us company inside. Had many memorkes at the bonfire too. Yard was big enough for the kids to run around. Like the basketball hoop. Overall, great experience.
Great Place to stay. Had everything it stated it did. We were disappointed that the dock was not in. We were looking forward to a friend coming to get us for a boat ride. But was unable without a dock. The yard was not mowed or kept up. The house was Beautiful and we were all very comfortable with our stay. Just disappointed in the yard and lack of dock.
We are a group of 15 guys that have been gathering for a weekend of Poker and basketball for 28 years. We've been to the Ruth Lake Retreat for 11 years prior to the change of hands. It was nice to return to our beloved retreat. We will always consider it our home away from home. Obviously there were some changes, like the upstairs bedrooms being closed for the season when we've used them the same time of year many times in the past. Some of the guys had to sleep on couches for their $250.00. The kitchen blew a fuse and had no working outlets using the supplied toasters. Zack was great about plowing the driveway and flipping breakers.. We look forward to another weekend same time next year.
You must see in person to fully appreciate the beauty of this lodge! Panoramic views, cozy fireplaces and truly one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. Over the top accommodations and location!
Perfect place to stay if you want to hit the ice or just hunker in for some r and r! A couple of nice little bars in town as well!
The pictures of the outside do not do this place justice. It is gorgeous! The house is so big I feel like I did not even see parts of it. The house was exactly what we needed for our annual friends trip. :)
Pictures do not do the outside justice. The lakefront views and backyard are amazing. The house is massive! Definitely exceeded expectations. Bring your own toiletries.
My wife and I, by the Grace of God, celebrated our anniversary with family. We were happy with the space provided for our group of 18. It was nice that we could eat all together at the same table. Plenty of space to entertain and relax. And it was nice to have our own private swimming beach and dock.
The property and cabin were incredible! So much space and everyone had a bed to sleep in. The property was clean and stocked with the basics. The cabin is right on the lake and has incredible views. The sunsets were straight out of a painting. Loved every day we spent there and would rent it again if it’s a available.
We had made reservations last minute and they were more then accommodating! This place is very true to the pictures and the people we worked with were great and very fast to respond. Would definitely suggest staying here and will probably be back next year.
Such a big private cabin with many rooms to fit the whole family! The kids were excited how roomy and spacious it was. My 10 month year old son walked around freely! The view of the lake was great to see every moring!! The Charcoal grill was so huge that it took us once to finish all the cooking. (My husband enjoyed it and is thinking about getting one himself!) ? The only downfall I would say is the bathroom sinks took a while for the the water to drain. Which that is a very minimal issue and am sure it could easily be fixed. Wish we could've plan for the summer because it was a bit chilly, but that didnt stop us from jumping into the lake. ? We will definitely come back to this beautiful cabin during the summer time!!!???
The house was large and had a gorgeous sunset over its expansive lake view. Easy check-in. Dock and lakeshore were nice and the house was very clean, but the house was just a few points short of full luxury retreat and included: old carpet, old pool table that had only 1 cue stick and rest broken, foosball table that had a broken rod, dated futons throughout, gas grill with an empty propane tank we had to fill, dull kitchen knives, master bathroom doors didn't shut to bedroom, and no laundry detergent. The worst aspect was the sump pump/drain system that ran every 4 minutes one night when it rained plus ran anytime someone used water in the house, which kept the master bedroom and 1 upstairs bedroom awake all night. Positives are nice kitchen appliances, large and multiple gathering spaces with couches/tvs/dining room space, outdoor game space, extra fridge in the garage, good amount of kitchen utensils/plates/cups/etc. Overall for the cost of this vs. other 9k sq ft cabins it was a good place to stay. We had 12 adults and 4 kids and enjoyed the weekend and never felt cramped. we may stay there again with slightly lower expectations, but only if they could confirm the sump pump noise was not going to happen again.
