***Your Mountain Getaway***
A stay at the Lost Elk Lodge in the heart of historic Jasper, Colorado, offers a unique, off-grid wilderness experience for young and old alike. From hiking to ATVing, hunting to fishing, wildlife viewing to just kicking back, there's a little something for everyone.

Built on the location of the old Cherokee Trading Post of a bygone era, the Lodge sits on an acre of commercial resort/tourist (CRT) land with 300 feet of frontage on Forest Service Road 250 and a seasonal creek running beside it. It's powered by solar and propane with a gasoline generator as back-up. An artesian well supplies the cabin with fresh spring water.

The Lodge itself is approximately 1100 square feet with an additional 720 square feet of wood decks complete with outdoor furniture and a grill. Inside there are 2 bedrooms upstairs as well as a sleeper couch downstairs, 2 bathrooms, and an open-plan living and dining area. The place is fully furnished with everything you would need for a comfortable stay including bedding, towels, and basic dry goods. Satellite internet and WiFi is also available for you to reach out to the outside world whenever you so desire.

A short hike from the property takes you in to the Rio Grande National Forest where elk, deer, bear, big horn sheep, coyote, game birds and countless other game are readily available. Likewise, the Platoro Reservoir is a short drive up the road and hosts freshly stocked trout and Kokanee salmon, not to mention all of the secret streams, lakes and ponds known by Jasper residents.

The cabin was just as described. The dirt road there is a little rough, but oh my goodness, what a beautiful drive!! The cabin is pleasantly remote and surrounded by gorgeous aspen trees and majestic mountains. I loved being there to see the fall colors. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed, and I loved the coziness. It was such a bonus to be able to take our dogs. They had a great time too! If you want a peaceful and beautiful getaway, this is your place!

Only complaints are no trash bags. This made it kinda hard to get all our trash out as requested. We made do tho7gh. And kitchen sink drain leaking so we could not pour anything in the sink or it came out underneath. Made it hard to wSh dishes etc. Other than those minor things, was a great place

This beautifully appointed and well equipped cabin provides the best of off-grid living. The roads in may be a bit rough and you will want to be mindful of your use of electricity, but the return on investment is peace and solitude in stunningly lovely surroundings.

Lost Elk Lodge was everything we were hoping for and more. It’s an off grid place and uses solar power but we never saw it go below 86%. The house was clean and well stocked and had everything we needed. The covered porch out front was so nice to hang out at, we spent a lot of time there. Plenty of hiking options nearby and we saw elk, mule deer, two moose and various other animals while there. The place is remote and it’s over an hour to get to the nearest gas station and grocery store, but that was exactly what we were looking for. Dara was a wonderfu host, quick to respond, very nice and accommodating. We are already ready to go back!

Spent a week hunting the area - what a great cabin and area. Dara was great to work with as well as the local contact - Kevin. It was a perfect week - we will be back soon.

The cabin is located in a wonderful location. There are other cabins close by but you still feel secluded and it is quiet. So much off road riding and hiking close by. The porch was amazing place to sit and relax. We enjoyed our stay.

We love staying in this cabin. It's very peaceful. Everything we needed was there. And if we needed anything the caretaker was just down the road. Easy access to ATV trails, fishing, mountain biking and hiking. We like to say the best kept secret in Colorado. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us.

I hate recommending it because it makes it harder for me to book. The best short term rental Ive ever experienced.
