Welcome to the Elk River Cabin!
This is just what you are looking for in a year around, 4- seasonal, mountain getaway retreat!
The Elk River Cabin is an authentic log cabin that was originally built in the 1800's in Marion, NC. It was dismantled, with all the logs being numbered, and re-constructed at its current location.
It has been renovated to retain its timeless and rustic charm. The many special features include Twig exterior & interior railings, oak hardwood peg flooring on main level, full masonry stone fireplace in the living room and 3 fully renovated baths. Lots of outdoor space, sunporch on the main level and open deck on the bottom level with hot tub, sauna and ping pong table.
Upper Level: Master Bedroom, Guest Bedroom, One Bathroom
Main Level: Kitchen, dining room, Living Room, Sun Porch and One Bathroom
Lower Level: 2nd Master Bedroom, Bathroom and Laundry
The cabin is located only about half a mile from the stoplight in downtown Banner Elk. Close to restaurants, shopping and festivities, but far enough away for peace and quiet.
The cabin is located only ½ mile from downtown Banner Elk and within ¼ mile to Lees McRae College.
Sugar Mountain...... 4 miles
Beech Mountain...... 5miles

We had the most amazing stay in Banner elk! The cabin was perfect for us!
The cabin was amazing, all the amenities were awesome. The location for us to ski was fantastic. Town was only a few minutes away. Excellent place to stay.
We missed the leaves changing by a few weeks but the view outside the window was spectacular either way, loved the glassed in back deck, perfect for chilly mornings and evenings! Thanks so much, your home is beautiful and very happy! :)
We love staying at this beautiful cabin, seeing the incredible fall colors, getting in some great hikes and enjoying the cute little town of Banner Elk. Loved it
This is my favorite place to stay. Great location with warmth and comfort.
This cabin is in a convenient location, and has decent amenities. If your time there includes any weekdays through this summer, you need to be aware there are two houses under construction -- one is right outside the front door, the other is in the adjacent lot. Around 7am on our first morning there, we were awakened to the sounds of construction that were so close, I thought someone had come inside the house-- it was very alarming. It was the opposite of the quiet, peaceful getaway we were hoping for. Had we known about the construction, we would have stayed somewhere else since this was our anniversary and our first time away from our young child. Other than that, it has a nice view. The hot water heater doesn't hold enough water to fill the tub. Compared to other cabins we have stayed in around the area, the nicest part was being a very short drive to dinner in Banner Elk or Valle Crucis.
We loved the Elk River Cabin, it was so well equipped, clean, full of character in a beautiful setting. This cabin would be challenging for someone who has difficulty with stairs. We would definitely rent it again.
We were looking for a place to get away to the mountains for a weekend, and wow did this place impress. We will definitely be returning!
Amazing property with a great location to Beech Mtn and Banner Elk. Cabin was very well upkept, and clean as well.
Super clean, beautiful decor, we'll stocked, this cabin had it all. We do VRBOs frequently, this was a unique gem. Views from deck, back glassed in porch, etc we're great.
This cabin is amazing and has everything you could ever need. The views are spectacular and feels secluded but very close to downtown Banner Elk. We hope to return again soon!!
Great cabin -- clean, well appointed, nice views. We didn't want to leave. We would definitely return.
Such a unique experience. This cabin made you feel like you were in the mountains but with great amenities! The stair case is super narrow and the ceilings were low (I'm tall) but the rest was great! Ms. Marsha was very responsive and helpful. My family and kids loved the house.
We had a wonderful time at this cabin. It was beautifully decorated and very clean. The location was easy to access and very close to town. The property manager was very responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here and hope to visit again soon.
We enjoyed our stay at the Elk River Cabin. Decorated and stocked well. great location close to Banner Elk and very secluded/private property
This property is beautiful, very well appointed, and comfortable. The owners put a lot of thought and effort into making a visitor enjoy their stay. One word of warning for something that was not described online - the stairs to both levels are very steep and narrow. Extremely. Anyone with mobility issues would have a very difficult time. We loved our stay - that is the only negative surprise. The porch and living room are cozy, the kitchen had almost anything you’d need, and the gas grill had propane. We didn’t use the sauna or jacuzzi, but both are a plus.
Charming cabin in the woods. Very very remote. No master on main. Steps are extreme narrow and steep. Great porch.
Amazing experience! Cabin was perfect!
Beautiful home with amazing views!
This is a beautiful cabin in a great location with all of the details considered and accounted for. We had a wonderful, romantic stay.
This is such a great cabin with amazing views, and a great location! Minutes from main street in Banner Elk, but it feels like you're totally secluded. There was more than enough room for our family of 4 and two dogs. The cabin is very clean, has everything you need and is so comfortable! Marsha was fantastic and was super responsive. Thanks for a fun, memorable family vacation. We can't wait to come back!
