Very cozy cabin! 3 Loved it. Weather was beautiful all week. Is located in a nice cabin-neighborhood. Front deck could use a paint job, but that had no effect on the week there.
We enjoyed our time searching for a Christmas tree nearby!! To be able to go back to the cabin for hot chocolate, a puzzle, warm fire and movie was priceless. Thankful for our ability to retreat away locally. Kind hosts, moderate updates needed. We didn’t bring our dogs but liked the option to if we had! Closer to neighbors than expected
When you there are flat pillows on the couch, chairs, and beds, it is very clear indicator of how the place is managed and what is given priority: money or quality of service to the client. The pillows at this place were horrible. It was like sleeping with your head on cardboard. We ended up bringing in the pillows from the vehicle we travel with because of my physical disability. Plus, there was a very high bed with steps on either side. This wasn't functional for me given my disability that limits mobility. This high bed wasn't listed in the description. We ended up switching bedrooms in the middle of the night. My wife woke up with a splitting headache that pretty much set the tone for the rest of our trip - thanks for that...! There were absolutely no instructions on how to use the cabin and we spent 10 minutes trying to get the doors locked when we left for our day of excursions. When I booked the room, I told them I had a disability and would be traveling with a qualified service dog; yet they said nothing about the bed, and I was still charged a $49 service fee that was described as a cleaning charge since I had a dog. I didn't think cleaning charges were applied for service dogs? Yet, there has been no credit applied back to my account. The pillows are just one example of how this place needs a serious update and a move on the scale of what is important.
Overall we had a great time and thanks for that! Two items you might want to address: The window blinds next to the dining table do not work. They are missing the cord that allows you to pull them up/down. Also, the screens on both doors need to be repaired. We found them torn and taped but falling off. Thanks.
The cabin has some charm, but the window treatments are terrible, and you won't be able to open the windows, easily. The lock box didn't open, for key retrieval, and the push button front door lock was horrible: Great fun pushing buttons that don't register. Getting in and locking up when you leave is a five minute hassle. Most windows have plastic panels on them, so very little airflow is possible. We kept the doors open, and the floor fans running, continuously. Kitchen was great, with great appliances. Stove, however, had no exhaust fan. I cook a good deal, so.....bummer. Bathroom was good, excellent water pressure. Overall, a 4-Star property in a rustic looking neighborhood. Rustic, in a good way.
This is our second time staying at the Big Bear Cabin and it didn’t disappoint. Location is perfect, close to many popular spots. Town is awesome. Met fabulous Woodland Park residents. Look forward to returning!
Wonderful cabin. Great location. Really, really poor management company. I emailed the company pryor to leaving for our trip asking a question, sent it twice before leaving. 3 weeks later after the trip, I'm still waiting for a response. After arriving at the cabin from a 10+ hour drive, my wife and I spent 30 minutes trying to open the main door. The instructions are woefully cryptic. Finally, the only reason I'm writing this review, (if you dont have anything good to say, dont say it, type of person).... I'm tired of the follow up emails asking for a review. So here you are.
It was a beautiful cozy cabin and a beautiful small town in the mountains. Loved everything about it. Thank you!
We left 2 days early the power was not work correctly flickering on and of and the yard needed to be landscaped weeds knee High. Highly disappointed.
We loved the neighborhood and quaint older home. Does need some work. The washer and dryer were a real challenge, not working properly.
Just like the first, our family's second time staying at the Big Bear Cabin was a charm. This pet-friendly cabin is perfect for our three dogs. People walked their dogs along the road in front of the cabin, and we saw deer at various times of the day. The cabin is only a 15-minute drive to Manitou Springs, the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Pike's Peak, Garden of the Gods, Old Colorado City and other places we love to visit. The cabin is clean, attractive and comfortable. We found only two very minor issues in the cabin, and they were resolved promptly by calling the Vacasa help line. The water heater provided enough hot water for four adults to take showers one after another. And we found great movies and series on the streaming channels. We've enjoyed staying at this cabin twice, and we're sure the third time will be a charm as well.
Plenty of room to spread out and relax. Comfy chairs and beds. Nice size bath, laundry and front porch. However, if the standard is to not have A/C and open windows to provide cross breeze/cool down in the evening you need to be able to open the windows! Only 2 windows had screens, the rest had un-openable storm windows. One BR had a small window fan, that didn't work. The windows that DID have screens were impossible to open because of the blinds or furniture that blocked the windows from opening into the cabin. The bathroom was very nice, seeming to have been redone recently. Some of the appliances could use an upgrade. A number of the buttons on the microwave didn't work (like the cancel button) and the washer and dryer have some complicated instructions and missing knobs. There was a screw poking through the screen door that scratched our daughter. I used some duct tape to cover up the sharp point, but the screen was ripped and I didn't feel comfortable using that much tape where it would be easily seen. They did provide 2 large fans, but none of the plugs were close enough to put the fans near the doorway to pull in the cooler air. A couple extension cords would have helped. However that wouldn't completely solve the air flow problem because who would leave their doors open all night?! There are many cute bear accents throughout the cabin and we didn't find ourselves lacking in any kitchen accessories. The shower curtain holders were accented with bears and moose and while cute, would routinely fall off the rod whenever you moved the curtain. A minor annoyance but who wants an added annoyance while on vacation? Our family/children do enough of that already!
Great!!
Extremely clean, including the kitchen and refrigerator. Amenities include dishwasher, washer and dryer, kitchen supplies, internet, and streaming tv. The bed was comfortable with a foam topper. Several clean towels were provided in the bathroom.
