Dakota Trail Cabin 1/2 mile from Old Man's Cave State Park in Hocking Hills

Perfect little cabin! It was in a prime location, but secluded enough to feel like you were tucked away in the woods. The hot tub was hot, and we even saw a couple deer near the creek in the evening.

Great host. The location was perfect in reference to privacy as well as accessibility to the trails.10/10

The kitchen was well equipped for preparing our meals, also cooked steaks on the gas grill, hot tub was very relaxing

The cabin for perfect for us and another couple. It was a good-sized kitchen for making breakfasts and quick dinners. The proximity to the Hocking Hills state park was great and the hosts were quick with communication and helpful.

Amazing location. Within 1 mile is 3 major hiking sites. 1 mile either direction of the cabin is a general store with ice cream and food. Cabin has a gorgeous view from the hot tub. Saw 3 deer within 30 yards of the cabin. Will be staying here again

The cabin was great! It’s in an amazing location, central to many trails. The hot tub is a great touch especially when staying in the colder months.

My wife and I had a nice weekend for our anniversary. The cabin was clean with everything we needed. The owner texted me that the cabin was ready so we got in a little bit early. 5 stars! Will be returning in the future.

Hannah, pur hostess was very kind and accommodating. The cabin was very cozy. The hot tub was delightful. We stayed an extra night and there was a levei 3 snow emergency and were not charged for it.

This place was exactly what we needed! Rustic cabin that exceeded all our expectations. Hot tub was great but the location was the best part. Centrally located and very quiet. Our dogs had space to explore around the cabin and all parks were only a few minutes away. Can’t wait to got back.

We enjoyed the hot tub after hiking during the day. The cabin was clean and roomy enough for the rwo of us and our golden retriever. Enjoyed our afternoons by the fire pit. We would stay there again. Very convenient to thectrails.

This cabin is so cute and cozy! It’s also close to everything! We used to stay in another cabin but decided to try Dakota Trail cabin. We were pleasantly surprised! Loved the decor at Dakota and the choice of either a soft bed or firm one. Very comfortable mattress! We slept so great and enjoyed the scenery and amenities.

Good communication from the host. Fire pit is too shallow and we were nervous about sparks flying with all the dry leaves on the ground so we opted to not use it. The drive to get to the cabin needs a culvert put in at the “creek”. Fortunately my car sits higher off the ground and we did not hit bottom. Nice little place in a very convenient location! Comfortable beds and adequate cooking supplies. Hosts were great with responding to questions/needs. Would stay there again.

Cozy, rustic cabin in a GREAT location -- just a short drive (or walk) from Old Man's Cave in Hocking Hills State Park. Very close to SR 664 but far enough away for privacy. Loved the hot tub after a long day of hiking. Enjoyed a campfire too. Highly recommended!

It was cozy and quite comfortable. We met one of the owners as we had a small issue with one of the asppliances and he was quite nice and was quick to address the issue. The cabin was quiet and in a beautiful location. We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to return next year, making this an annual getaway. Thank you to both of you for making it a wonderful stay.

The hot tub was great, we used it a lot during our 2 night/3 day stay. The cabin was clean and ready for our stay. We asked if we could get in early as it was a 3 hr. drive for us, we were able to get in 3 hours early, that was fantastic!!

The cabin is located in a very beautiful area and offers plenty of privacy, which we really appreciated. However, the grill was broken and didn’t feel safe to use. Also, there were no insect screens on the windows, which made it uncomfortable in the evenings. The cabin itself is cozy, but a bit outdated and would benefit from some updates.

The cabin was clean and simple. Exactly what we needed! Being so close to Old Man’a cave allowed us to get there before the crowds that take over after about 10:00 am. It made our time hiking SO MUCH more enjoyable. Grandma Faye’s just down the road made sure we got all the things we forgot to pack. It was really easy to find the cabin and the directions from the hosts were detailed and easy to follow. The wifi was a nice bonus in an area with spotty signal. The hot tub was in great working order and the perfect place to be after a long day of hiking or to start the day as the sun came up. Cabin was stocked with the essentials like bath towels and toilet paper and paper towels and coffee cups and chairs for the deck, which was also a huge bonus. Highly recommend for a hiking weekend. Only suggestion I have is that in the warmer months bringing a fan for the bedrooms may be nice since the a.c is stationed in the living room

Great location, hot tub was amazing and the cabin was nice. The host responded promptly with any questions I had. The only negative for me was the grill. Could use a new grill and it also had a wasps nest under it that we had to kill to be able to use it.

This was the perfect place to stay for a getaway to Hocking Hills. The location was great, and the cabin was spotless. We appreciated having coffee supplied as we forgot to bring any with us. We highly recommend this cabin and hope to stay here again in the future.

We LOVED the cabin and the location. Patrick & Hannah were outstanding hosts! Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short due to a medical emergency. Hannah was MOST helpful in getting us the info we needed to get back home quickly and safely. Looking forward to booking a return trip to Dakota Trail Cabin!

The cabin offered everything we needed for my family, including our dog. The proximity to Old Man’s Cave was an amazing perk and the cabin is tucked away so you still feel like you’re away from the rest of the world.

Perfect spot for visiting Hocking Hills. Super easy check in and check out. Everything was as described. Firewood was a nice plus, hot tub was enjoyable. Bedding was super clean. Place was nice and cool on a hot day. Would visit again! Very peaceful and quiet.

Great experience! Our family of four (including our dog), stayed here to attend a family reunion. The cabin was clean, cozy, and the area was very peaceful. The hot tub was thoroughly enjoyed! There were some hot days, and there is just one AC unit in the main room, but it was more than adequate to cool the entire cabin! We brought our own wood, but there were many places in the area tp purchase firewood. One of the best things we liked about our stay was the friendliness and responsiveness of the hosts. We didn't have any issues, but Hannah was always quick to respond to any questions we might have had. Also, the cabin is located less than a mile from the Old Man's Cave Visitor Center. And two good restaurants are also closeby. We would highly recommend a stay here. Thanks Hannah!

Loved this little cabin!! It was cozy and tucked away from the traffic, felt very secluded even though it really isn’t. The inside was just perfect for what we needed. We found a box fan under one of the beds and set that up to blow the AC to the bedrooms better. Only complaint was the driveway, there’s a little ditch at the bottom (you can tell they’ve tried filling it many times but it keeps washing the stone away) maybe a little bridge or something, bc my car had a really hard time letting me go into the ditch (new cars automatically break if it thinks you’re about to hit something) But honestly, I could’ve parked at the bottom and walked up. So 10/10 highly recommend!

We stayed two nights for a girls trip, and had a great time in the covered hot tub while it was pouring rain! Old Mans Cave is quite close, and the other popular caves and trails are just a short drive. The kitchen is well equipped and there were plenty of paper towels and toilet paper. Cozy little cabin and nice cold AC!

The place was located perfectly to see everything in the area, but is secluded enough to enjoy quiet time with the family at night. We really enjoyed the hot tub after long hikes every day. We will definitely be back at some point. The cabin has an easy laid back feeling. Excellent stay and just what we were looking for.

The cabin was nice and private. It had everything I needed for my stay. Great wifi and the hot tub was amazing. Located close to the popular spots, it was nice to be able to stop back whenever I wanted while I was exploring. Two small convenience stores very close by and about 20 minutes from town if you need real groceries and supplies. The host was very welcoming and helpful. There was a nice hand written binder with information on the cabin and location and some information on things to do.

My boyfriend had me book this cabin on a whim, the sizing of the cabin was perfect for the two of us and we loved it! He did propose to me on the property as well!!!!! We will definitely be coming back as we loved the cabin and the easy access to the parks

Stayed with my boyfriend and our dog and we had a great time! The property is BEAUTIFUL and our Newfoundland loved running around in the snow. The driveway was clear from snow and a great spot to see the stars! Location was nice as we were close to popular hikes like Old Man’s Cave and Ash Cave. Would stay again!

We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin! Our dog felt so at home from the minute we arrived which is very unusual for him! He was a rescue dog and now living his best life going on different little trips with us! This cabin was very clean! The hot tub was just what we needed for these extremely cold days! Great little cabin in a very nice location, right near Old Man’s Cave and the park lodge. We enjoyed the hot tub while the snow flakes were coming down! The fireplace kept it very cozy warm. Kitchen was well stocked and I appreciated the coffee supplies!

Centrally located to everything in Hocking Hills--Less than 1/4 mile from Old Man's Cave--yet very quiet and secluded. Even tho the hot tub is on the frontporch , it is private because the tree lined creek on the downhill slope and the huge open field on the gentle sloping uphill sides of the cabin obscure any sight from any other structures or roads. The cabin is perfect for 4. Very tastefully decorated in MountainMan/Native American decor. The sofa and recliner are very comfortable, Temperature control in the cabin was easy -- thermostat-controlled Air Conditioner/Heater. The gas fireplace has natural flame and turns on/off with temp setting. The kitchen has everything needed for cooking and baking. There is a second deck to enjoy sitting outside. There is a fire pit with a picnic table close by and a propane outdoor grill. Cozy in cold weather; I'm sure it'll be just as wonderful when we come back during warm weather.

Our stay was great! The cabin is so welcoming and relaxing after a day of hiking. Will definitely stay there again in the Spring!

We loved our stay at Dakota Trail Cabin. The check-in process was easy and friendly! It is a very cute cabin & had everything we needed & then some! We stayed 2 nights with our 2 dogs, we all enjoyed !!

We stayed for few days to visit Hocking Hills State Park which is just down the road. The cabin is cowboy/western themed. It is a very quiet area and owner is attentive to needs. The hot tub is very nice. We brought our small dog and it was no problem.

The shower pressure was minimal. The hot tub was great but way to much chemicals, made my eyes burn after 5 min of sitting in it. No i didn't get my face wet. The fire exstigsure was expired. Love the set up. The people at the cabin below were a little loud butcouldn't enjoy a quiet fire but over all way a great getaway.

We were scheduled to stay at the Dakota cabin. However, another couple were there. They realized after discussion that they were in the wrong place. Since both cabins were essentially the same, we decided to stay at the other one.

Location was absolutely perfect! Seemingly in the middle of nowhere. So quiet and peaceful! The cabin was so cozy and interior decor was perfect! Hot tub on the front porch was definitely a bonus! We will definitely be rebooking this cabin next year for our Anniversary again!!

Dakota cabin was perfect for us. Our dog was able to relax with privacy and room to run. Driveway could use some TLC. We will return and rent both cabins for an extended family stay!

The living room and kitchen area are very nice. I would suggest drapes at the doors that cover the whole window. The bedrooms were very stuffy due to the extreme heat. One box fan was provided but a second one for the other better would have made the temperature in those those rooms better. Each bedroom was decorated nicely. But those rooms and bathroom could use a coat of paint. Items on the dressers were dusty . If you are looking for a scenic property, this is it. Around 7:30 every evening the deer would make an appearance on the hillside. We unfortunately could not use the hot tub since mother nature gave us very hot conditions. Thanks to the owners for answering all of our questions

Enjoyed ourselves in this clean, comfortable cabin. Everything worked as it should, no surprises. It was very nice sitting on both decks. Well maintained property, driveway in was not an issue. Kitchen was adequately stocked, we cooked dinner one night. Wonderful stay, plan to come back.

Wonderful stay! We loved many things about Dakota Trail! Location could not be beat! We did about 7-8 different hikes and all were within about a 20ish min drive. We stayed in August and we had beautiful weather so we actually didn’t use the hot tub, however it was very clean and would have had it been cooler. Our Goldendoodle loved it too! She’s the best, and enjoyed just being there in general. She moseyed around outside, went on every hike with us, and felt very comfortable at the cabin. My husband (37 years old) is recovering from leukemia/ a bone marrow transplant so we were a little reluctant on the water. He’s still pretty immunocompromised. With that said, although the water is quite smelly, he still felt comfortable showering. We used bottle water for consumption for our own peace of mind. We both are familiar with well water, if he wasn’t in that position, we wouldn’t have been so cautious. The only improvement could be the cleanliness in general on the overall cabin as others have mentioned too. Regardless, great stay and we will be back!

Great location to do a short drive to many of the hiking areas…if you are an early riser get to trailheads early and you will miss a lot of the crowds. Cabin was wonderful…clean, comfy beds, quiet location, great hot tub. Hannah was really helpful in answering all questions…quick to respond. Really enjoyed our stay!
