Prescott, Michigan
Perfect for multi-family vacations or groups. Only two hours from most of the metro Detroit or Lansing area. The lake is small and quiet. A busy day on the weekends is maybe 4 or 5 boats or jet-skis. During the week, you mostly have it to yourselves. Most of the lake has housing that is in various neighborhoods. When you are here, it will feel very secluded to you and your group. Property has 120' of lake frontage on 3/4-acre lot with a fully wooded neighboring lot on one side. Lake has good fishing for bass, pike, and panfish.
There are three bedrooms by definition of bedroom and the walkout basement is another great common area with a nice sleeper futon and full bathroom. Total in the house are 2 queen beds and 5 queen futons / sleepers. One of the bedrooms is a bonus room over the garage that can sleep a lot of people, particularly children and there are additional cushions / mattresses that can be used for this purpose.
With one bedroom on the top floor, two on the main floor and the basement, you can definitely have three families at the same time and still feel like you have enough privacy.
The home has a handicap ramp for entrance and a right-hand-usage handicap grab bar in the main floor bathroom. There is no boat or jetski usage for guests, but there is a canoe, kayak and swim platform that can be used. You can bring your own boat and I can recommend pontoon rental if you like. The lake is all sports. All appliances are here. Microwave, dishwasher, BBQ grill, air conditioning, wireless high speed internet w/ streaming TV, and laundry. Natural fireplace in the living room.
The area is very quiet. There is a local grocery, good pizza, bar food, new dispensary, and gas station with rec gas all within 5 minutes. Excellent meat market, sporting goods (fishing gear, bait) and chicken dinners within 10-15 minutes and West Branch has just about everything (including shopping outlets) about 25 minutes away.
We have a really nice adjustable basketball setup on the driveway with a free throw line and 3 point arc. Also within walking distance is Newman Park with has tennis courts, ball diamonds (kinda rough but good enough for family kickball), more basketball hoops and the usual kids toys like slides and swings, etc. Even that thing that spins around really fast and you can go flying - yeah, like when we were kids.
There are also some very nice golf courses - (Nightmare & Dream as well as others - within about 30 minutes drive.

The house is great! It can accommodate a big family. The 3 full baths are really helpful. We had our annual family reunion here and Kirk (host) was very responsive to our needs. Check in was a breeze and Kirk’s flexibility meant a lot to all of us. Would love to come back again. Thanks for everything!
Kirks cottage was the perfect spot for a group of adults. We were looking for a low key cottage getaway to relax and recharge away from our kids. This was the perfect spot. Peaceful lake, quiet spot and glorious bonfires. It is a short ride away from Rifle River Tubing which is a great afternoon activity. Thanks and can't wait to book again!
Cabin was perfect and Kirk is super communicative/helpful! Would highly recommend!
Kirk and the cabin were both fantastic. Everything we needed was there, the property is beautiful and private, communication with Kirk was awesome from the start. Our group had the best time!
Great time
Our family had an amazing time in the cabin! They had everything we needed and more. We loved the location. It was scenic and secluded. Also, the host was very helpful and great with communication. We definitely will come back to this spot!
Amazing views of a lake. Tree lined frontage offered unparalleled lake privacy. Everything you could expect was in place. Everything you would want in a northern Michigan property.
I stayed here with a group of 6 for a fun weekend up north, and Kirk's cottage did not disappoint. Everything in the listing is as-described. Plenty of beds/couches for sleeping, great amenities, and great location without too many neighbors. We made use of the basketball hoop, pool table, kayak and stand-up paddleboard. 10/10 would recommend. Very glad we found this place! -Nick
Really enjoyed our stay. Super helpful and friendly owner. Extremely rare combination of a true log cabin with all the comforts of modern amenities and upgrades, washer/dryer and refrigerator with an ice machine. Lots of room with loft, main floor and rec room basement. Nice master bedroom, main floor bath and family room with lots of good futons. Big deck with grill overlooking the lake with lots of sun and great sunsets. Our dogs loved the big yard leading down to the sandy beach and dock. Water quickly drops off so good panfish and bass right off the dock. From online review, looks like decent northern (?) fishing further out. Easy drive only a couple hours from Detroit or Lansing. We definitely hope to visit again next summer.
Was a great first experience with Vrbo. Property was great and owner was wonderful.
We loved the house, the owner was very responsive. The large porch was beautiful & very peaceful. The layout accommodated our family very well.
Overall I had a pleasant stay at this place, one of the nicest experiences we had as a family. definitely recommended. Here are some of the pros and cons for this place: 1- House is well built, plenty of sleeping space, outdoor and water activities 2- lake is extremely quiet. almost dead quiet, you may see one pontoon sometimes but that's about it. at 40 acres it's a bit small for an all sport lake so not much length for water skiing and such. 3- You can dive right from the dock! which was great and the kids just kept climbing and diving. However, the sandy area is almost non existent, you have about 15 ft of muck before it cliffs down rapidly so watch out for your young ones. 4- city is super super quiet, there is a grocery store and a pizza store near by but that's about it. plan on hanging around the cabin with a nice book and a in-house entertainment 5- Kirk is quick to answer and easy to talk to. The cons: (not many) 1- it's a bit pricey! I like the place and had a nice time in it. But at this rate I may consider other options for next time. I have stayed in similar places before for a cheaper rate. 2- bugs all day long, I couldn't stay long at any of the yards. Easily fixed with some bug pesticide. 3- The main living space is not big enough for a large family. For a house that can hold up to 18 individuals, there's no great room to keep them all in one space. The table on the deck is pretty decent though for meals. Overall I recommend this place and had an enjoyable time at it
We had a great week, a great spot for multiple families to gather. Beautiful home!
Everything was fantastic. 10/10 experience.
The house and property was exactly how it was described in the listing. Nice quite area. We stayed through the weekend. We our boat. The lake was nice. Sandbar is kinda mucky though. Great weekend! No complaints.
