Cozy Stone Cottage overlooking Smith Lake

The cabin is in a great location and generally met expectations for a northern Minnesota getaway. We were able to sleep well for part of the stay and enjoyed the area overall.However, during our stay we encountered a mouse inside the cabin that got into food on a coffee table near the sofa at 2am, requiring us to discard it and understandably freak us out. This was uncomfortable and impacted our experience especially during evening hours when we wanted to spend quiet time inside the cabin. We also noticed rodent bait stations and deterrents throughout the property, as well as insulation type material in one of the bathroom drawers which suggested this may not be an isolated issue, though we were not informed of any prior concerns before arrival. Had we known there would be bait stations (poison) around the house prior to booking, we may have either opted not to bring our dog or we would not have booked this particular property rental. The host offered a 50 refund, which felt minimal relative to the impact on a 1,200 stay and the inconvenience caused. Overall, we would rate the experience 5/10 due to the rodent issue, despite the positives of the location and cabin itself.

Beautiful cabin had everything we needed for a romantic weekend away. Loved the lake view. Kitchen was well equipped. Area was very quiet- except for the loons!

Clean cabin upon arrival! All the amenities we could need for a 3 night stay. This place is great, beautiful spot on a beautiful lake! Will definitely be back.

We SO enjoyed this little place. It is a gem & just what we were looking for. There is everything you would need: coffee pot & Keurig, microwave, toaster, pots & pans, crockpot, towels - everything of home. The owner is very responsive to questions. We loved it & hope to return!!

Very remote and quiet. Not to far from Grand Rapids which is what I was looking for. We had our boat on the lake. We caught enough fish for a meal. The public boat landing is not great but it’s not any fault of the property it is what it is. We made it work. The kitchen was beautiful and up to date, all in all it was a great experience. The cabin fit the bill perfectly.

This was a great first introduction to northern Minnesota for our young children. Great area, thank you!

I can’t say enough good things. If you are looking for a quiet and beautiful place to enjoy nature and get away while having the comfort of home, this is it.

Great place to unwind and relax! The cabin was clean and comfortable with games and books galore. The deck in back has a beautiful view of Smith Lake. Star watching at night was wonderful as well. We will be back!
