NEW BED!! Cabin is located next to state game lands also trout stream and railroad. Very quite!!!! Call for more information!!! All kitchen appliances included! Washer dryer fire pit. Porch swing. This is by a main railroad crossing if you like trains. Pets allowed
Great place to relax and enjoy nature! Also if you're a railfan, the occasional moments of passing trains makes this the place for you! Look forward to staying here again!
TLDR version: The cabin is quirky but great. My wife and I enjoyed our anniversary get-a-way immensely. I highly recommend the aptly named Cozy Rustic Cabin if you're looking for a quiet place to unplug and unwind. That said, getting to this remote cabin was a rather scary adventure in itself. We were arriving from the south (through West Virginia) and Google maps GPS instructed us to take a road that simply ceased existing. White Oak Hollow Road does NOT lead to Cozy Rustic Cabin. It leads you down a rocky and rutty 'road,' if it can be called that, to what appears to be State game lands -- i.e. a forest! I have attempted to alert Google maps to this issue. This brings me to the only issue we had with this cabin: communication. We received an email through Vrbo from the owners discussing detours around us they'd contact us about the day of our check-in. But the next day, when they did contact us, it was again via an email through Vrbo with vague directions about roads we were completely unfamiliar with. That, added to the fact we were already on the road when the email was sent, in an area with slim to no cell reception, resulted in us getting very lost. Luckily, a kindly resident of a farm near that non-existent road helped us with some clearer directions. I suggest planning your route to this cabin out in advance which will require extremely clear communication from the owners...perhaps by phone call a couple days before check-in. Still... great cabin!
It was a great location. Didn’t have hav cell service which was great cause we were on are honeymoon and didn’t want to be disturbed
This stay was a Christmas gift my wife and I gave one another. When we arrived and went in, it immediately felt like home. Everything we needed was there. The hosts live very close and are wonderful. It was quiet and relaxing. Will be going back!
The house was nice and clean on the inside. Nice selection of family games and it felt homey. There are some close neighbors around the house but we never seen them out. It’s close to the train tracks, but it didn’t bother us. We would stay here again.
Things I wish I knew before booking: -There is a house about 20 steps from your door and two more houses in the back yard. We wanted to get away not have someone on top of us. -You share a gravel parking lot with this other house where the fire pit is located. Next to the fire pit (in the gravel parking lot) is a chicken coop & the neighbor's shed. -Across from the one-lane road out front is a railroad track. Trains run throughout the night blowing the whistle. -The bed is uncomfortable (which could be a matter of personal taste) but it makes noise every time you move. My husband & I are combined 290lb. -There is a chicken & cats who run loose in the parking lot. Beware if your dog reacts to other animals. -The couch is worn, tattered & uncomfortable to sit on. It looks like the owner wore it out for years before throwing it in the cabin. -No cell service. You are surrounded by farms. You need to drive about 10 min to get cell service for GPS so I recommend logging onto wifi at the cabin & search GPS for a destination before you get on the road if you plan to go anywhere. The cabin was clean for the most part. It's not like it was a mess but there are things that should be cleaned better. The kitchen sink, the shelves of the shower are not touched.
Stayed couple nights with my son. Well stocked cabin in a quaint, secluded neighborhood. Enjoyed the front porch in the mornings. No issues and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again when back in the area. Thank you for the use of your cabin
Relaxing, beautiful view, accomplished my sites list. Kristie was kind and offered locations that might be useful for my short stay
The cabin was very cozy, quiet and comfortable. We stayed in and just relaxed all weekend. ?
Tried to cancel within 1 day of booking b/c of emergency (did not pay extra ins to cancel - who knew)! Tried to rebook b/c they unable to give refund but unable to do so - communication but I trie to no avail. Lack of communication between Vrbo/praoperty owner who should have helped us. So we lost all funds paid because we could not rebook. Hope Vrbo and owner enjoyed the free fall! Sad.
Just what we wanted. Perfect for a weekend getaway. Cabin was clean and nicely furnished.
I love the porch swing and cofee
Description did say pet friendly, however we didn't have pets. Upon entry, the smell of wet dog filled the air. A lot of dog hair everywhere! I swept up two dust pans full of dog hair. The living room furniture also smelled of dog and had dog hair. If you have pets, this would be ideal. The new bed was comfy, but not very sturdy it felt wobbly. We are a heavier couple and decided to sleep on the couch. There was barely any water pressure, and bare minimum essentials provided (only 2 wash cloths for 2 adults for 3 days, we found a Dollar General and bought some.) No cell service (not their fault), which made travel difficult. I was told not to take dirt roads, but coming from the south that's the only option GPS provided. When leaving the cabin DO NOT make a left to go exploring, it's a very rough road. I was disappointed that we couldn't find some of the attractions and restaurants due to no phone service when traveling. Again, not their fault, but do research and plan sight seeing before going.
Loved everything, but the bed! Thought a king bed was mentioned in description and seemed to just be a double bed.
Great location. Lots of historic sites all within about a 45 minute drive. The host is close in case you need anything. The cabin was very warm and comfortable. It had everything we needed.
