This custom built cabin is your northern Michigan getaway from it all! Located 5 minutes from Schuss Mountain and 10 minutes from downtown Bellaire, you'll find all the amenities you need in this cozy cabin: full kitchen with custom barn-wood island for extra cooking space, large Amish dining table for game nights, electric woodstove for warming up after skiing/snowboarding, spacious upstairs loft with large TV for kids entertainment, and so much more.

We started rented the cabin in 2018 and we already have families renting with us for the second and third time. The cabin is nesteled in Swiss Village East, a wooded, picturesque community with the Cedar River, a blue ribbon trout stream, just a short walk down the road. Skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing are 5 minutes away at Schuss Mountain, and shopping, dining, and entertainment can be found in downtown Bellaire, a quick 10-minute drive.

GOLF- Michigan's best golf courses are just around the corner. Shanty Creek’s The Legend plays host to some of the country's biggest tournaments including the PGA Tour. Shanty Creek includes two other golf courses, not to mention the nearby Chief and Hawks' Eye. Grand Traverse Resort and Boyne Mountain golf courses are just 30 minutes away. At least 20 courses are within 45 minutes.

SKIING- Shanty Creek is constantly improving its downhill skiing, cross country, snowboarding and tubing offerings. Or take the short drive to Boyne Mountain. You can cross-country right out your door, but watch out – the White Pine Stampede may be coming down the trail!

BOATING- Cano

CANOEING- Try the Jordan River, just 20 minutes away. Take it all the way down to beautiful Lake Charlevoix. Or head down to Grayling and try the Au Sable or Manistee.

HIKING, CAMPING, and SNOWMOBILING- Take advantage of over 40,000 acres of public lands some of which is immediately adjacent to Swiss Village East. You can't beat the natural beauty of Grass River Natural Area, Glacial Hills, and the Cedar River Natural Area.

FISHING- You just can't beat the rainbow trout found in our very own Cedar River. Or try any of the area lakes.

FOOD- From some of Michigan's most elegant dining (Ellsworth's Rowe Inn) to fast food (McDonald's) to informal Chinese, you'll find it all.

NATURE- Deer, wild turkey, fish, birds, and fox abound. Try hunting for morel mushrooms!

NIGHTLIFE - Short's Microbrewery in Bellaire has become a dining and music venue drawing microbrew connoisseurs, foodies and music lovers from throughout the Midwest. On holiday weekends, be sure to come early. We know you will stay late.

OTHER ATTRACTIONS- Horseback riding, indoor miniature golf, sand dunes, great shopping, theaters, movies, and more.

Nearby Towns - Visit Charlevoix (30 min.), Traverse City (45 min.), Petoskey (45 min.), and Mackinac City (90 minutes).

Unfortunately, there is no hunting allowed on our property and this home is not meant to be used as Deer Camp.

Fantastic weekend! The cabin was perfect for our family’s ski weekend. It was just the right amount of space for the 5 of us, and well appointed. Derrick was friendly and responsive.

IDEAL! We wanted a peaceful getaway in the woods...this was all that and so much more. The interior was a wonderful surprise. Derrick and his wife should be in the design business - top of the line finishes and appliances; the use of pine is understated but everywhere creating a cozy atmosphere, not cluttered with kitchy stuff. Beds great. Squeaky clean and neat. We didn't play the 72rpm records, but will next time. We talked with Derrick a few times and he was helpful and unflappable when faced with our quirky inquiries. We recommend the sunset cruise on Torch Lake . Location is easy to find and to access main roads to surrounding towns and TC. (Road to Cabin is paved so easy to drive back to cabin in the dark.) We plan to be another return guest.

We had a fantastic stay at this cozy cabin! From the beginning, the host was exceptional with communication—he sent all the details we needed a few days before our arrival and was quick to respond to any questions we had during our stay. The cabin itself was furnished with high-quality, comfortable furniture that made it feel like a home away from home. The kitchen was especially impressive—stocked with top-notch bakeware, utensils, and thoughtful extras like paper plates, foil, and ziplocks, which made cooking easy and enjoyable.Outside, we loved spending time around the well-maintained fire pit, and the host provided plenty of firewood. The large driveway was a huge plus—it easily fit our two trucks, each with boat and motorcycle trailers.Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

We had a group of 6 adults and it was the perfect size cabin for our Torch Lake trip. This was our second time renting this property and it was just as great as we remember!

We loved the size of the house. It was bigger than other places we have stayed. The kitchen and large dining area was especially nice.

This cabin was really nice, they offered a ton of little amenities like river tubes and a canoe. It was clean a quaint but spacious. The beds were very comfortable and it's a very short drive to torch or a local store.

This is our second year staying at this property. The home is located in a great area in northern Michigan and offers everything you need for a great stay. We have stayed at other properties in the area that lack a lot of common household items where this one makes you feel just like your at home. In addition we have always had great support when we had any questions. A couple days on torch lake, a day at Mackinaw Island, kayaking on the rivers and a day in Traverse City, the home is in a great location to hit all the places you want for your vacation!
