The Bear’s Lair: Where the Woods Meet the Fun

**A cozy Berkeley Springs cabin with a wood-fired hot tub, outdoor sauna, arcade, and plenty to enjoy together.**

Tucked beneath the trees in Berkeley Springs, WV, The Bear’s Lair is a comfortable home base for a relaxing getaway with family or friends. Spend the day exploring the area, hiking the nearby trails, or enjoying the cabin itself. Soak in the hot tub, unwind in the sauna, settle in by the fire, or challenge thekids to a game of Pac-Man.

It's a place to slow down, reconnect, and have a little fun along the way.

Room to Relax—and Plenty to Do

The main level has everything you need to settle in comfortably, with two queen bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a cozy living area. The primary suite includes a soaking tub and walk-in shower, while blackout shades throughout the sleeping areas help everyone get a good night's sleep.

Upstairs, the king bedroom has a quiet reading nook. The loft provides flexible space for reading, games, crafts, lounging, or getting a little work done if you have to.

The lower level is the dedicated play space, with Pac-Man, Street Fighter II, shuffleboard, foosball, and board games. There's also a twin bedroom that converts to a king. Please note that the bathroom for this bedroom is upstairs.

Relax Outside

Step outside and settle into the woods.

The wood-fired hot tub and outdoor sauna are perfect for unwinding after a day of hiking or exploring Berkeley Springs. Some firewood is provided to get you started, with additional firewood available for purchase.

You'll also find an axe-throwing setup, cornhole, giant Tetris Tumble, a deck with a grill, and a fire pit.

During the summer season, guests have access to the neighborhood pool and hot tub, about a 5-minute walk from the cabin. Four pool passes are included, with up to four additional day passes available for advance purchase.

Designed for Families and Friends

The Bear’s Lair is especially well suited to families and small groups who want space to spread out and plenty of options for spending time together.

Traveling with little ones We provide a crib, high chair, baby monitor, gates, and other kid-friendly essentials so you don't have to pack the entire nursery.

Dogs are welcome too.

Berkeley Springs Is Your Playground

When you're ready to explore, there's plenty nearby.

The property offers direct access to the Coolfont Mountainside hiking trails. Cacapon State Park is a short drive away for hiking, swimming, the lake, and golf. Downtown Berkeley Springs offers shops, restaurants, cafes, and classic small-town charm.

Whether you're looking for an active weekend, a quiet escape, or a little of both, The Bear’s Lair gives you a comfortable place to come home to.

A Note About Being in the Woods

The Bear’s Lair is part of a mountainside neighborhood and is genuinely tucked into the forest, and that's part of its charm. The cabin sits beneath a mature tree canopy, so you'll experience the sights, sounds, and occasional surprises that come with being in nature.

Depending on the season and weather, you may encounter leaves, twigs, pollen, cobwebs, or the occasional bug or woodland critter around the property—particularly in outdoor areas and around the hot tub and fire pit. Leaves can also fall onto decks, stairs, and outdoor furniture between cleanings.

We keep the cabin and outdoor spaces cleaned and maintained, but we can't make a forest behave like a resort. If you enjoy being surrounded by trees and wildlife, you'll feel right at home here.

A Few Important Details

The cabin has 9 steps to the front door, but the main level is designed for comfortable single-level living once inside.

The main floor includes:

* Two queen bedrooms
* Kitchen and living area
* Ensuite bathroom with soaking tub and walk-in shower
* Raised-height toilet
* Lever-style door and faucet handles
* Blackout shades
* Accessible parking near the main entrance

The Bear’s Lair is a place to relax, play, explore, and spend time together—with the woods right outside and plenty to enjoy when you come back in.

    We stayed at this cabin last weekend and overall had a wonderful experience.The location is very convenient—only about a 1.5-hour drive from the DC area, and the route was easy and straightforward. The directions and check-in instructions were clear and easy to follow, making it simple to find the property.The cabin met our expectations perfectly. It had four bedrooms, plenty of space, and was very clean upon arrival. Our favorite feature was the beautiful forest view through the large floor-to-ceiling windows. The layout was thoughtfully designed, and the furniture was comfortable and well arranged, creating a cozy and relaxing atmosphere.There are a couple of areas that could be improved. The cookware, especially some of the pots and baking trays, was in poor condition and needed thorough cleaning before we could use it. Also, the firewood provided for heating the hot tub consisted of very large logs that were difficult to ignite. We ended up driving into town to buy fire starters so we could get the fire going and heat the water.One additional consideration is that the price felt a bit high for a regular weekend that was not a holiday weekend.That said, we truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful forest getaway close to DC. The views, cleanliness, and overall experience made for a very enjoyable weekend.

    Had a great time this weekend. Spent the weekend hanging out with friends playing games, sitting outside during the day by the fire and in the mornings relaxing in the sauna. Place had everything we needed and would definitely recommend this house to friends, we talked about coming back when weather was warmer so we could spend more time outside taking advantage of all the activies offered.

    This Vrbo rental was absolutely amazing. The pictures advertised truly don’t do it justice. We originally stayed for 2 nights but ended up extending our stay by an extra night because we didn’t want to leave!We stayed in late December, and the home was incredibly cozy and comfortable. The owners have truly thought of everything to make guests feel at home—extra toothbrushes, coffee, spices, a fully stocked kitchen with plates, utensils, pots and pans, plenty of towels, bedding, blankets… the list goes on and on.It is a beautiful, welcoming space and exceeded all of our expectations. This place easily deserves 5 stars, and we would absolutely stay here again.

    This house is perfect. Amenities galore and a fantastic basement playroom to keep the kids occupied for days! Location can’t be beat. Close to both state parks and the town. The host knows what she’s doing. There was a torch lighter to use for the fireplace which provided excellent heat and loads of comfy blankets. Coffee bar. Dog bowls. Separate towels for outdoor use. Excellent water pressure. Comfy beds. Labeled switches. Cabinet after cabinet of kids things to use. Close to the brewing company. Everyone in town was friendly and our dog had a blast as well. Dogs are welcome into most businesses and restaurants. Overall 10/10 property with absolutely zero issues. Our kids (7 and 10) already asking to return and we just left today! Thanks for a great little escape.

    The house is quiet and surrounded by woods but within a few minutes drive of downtown Berkeley Springs. It's a great home base for exploring the surrounding area. We loved the layout and the washer/dryer (it's always nice to come home from a trip without a pile of laundry to do). Would definitely stay again.

    We had a great time! The property was just as described...the sauna and hot tub were so much fun! It was great not having to drag along so much for the kids--we had a two month old and a 20 month old. Everything was so clean and welcoming! We definitely will book again!
