Houston, Alaska
There is a short walk to a peaceful lake. This is a 16x20 open cabin with classic round logs, with a loft. It is most comfortable for 2-3 adults and 2 kids but can sleep up to 5 adults. With kids, there is a steep ladder to the loft but railings in the loft. There aren't railings on the porch. The bedroom is small and has sliding barn-style doors for privacy and a pillow top queen mattress. The ladder to the loft is in bedroom.
The LA-Z-Boy sofa is in the main living space and pulls out for one guest to sleep on. The loft has thick pull out pads for kids or adults. There is a pack and play for young kids. Adults will not be able to stand up in loft. Full bathroom with a shower and toilet and door for privacy. The kitchenette comes with a microwave, coffee maker, small refrigerator/freezer, 2 burner cooktop, pots and pans and utensils.
All bedding and linens provided.
Currently, there is no internet. Some guests can get our wifi signal on the porch. There is a smart tv and dvd player.
Enjoy the outdoor games: Kan Jam Frisbee, KUUB, Bocce, badminton or Molkky. There is also a hammock set up in the trees. In the winter, guests can bring skis, snow machine and/or ice fishing gear. Some nearby ski trails and ice fishing on the nearby lake. Heated with an oil Toyo stove.
The lake is 100 yards away and stocked with rainbow trout. Guests can use the campfire pit for a cook-out, or fire up the grill for a BBQ.
Check in is after 4:00 and check out is at 11:00 a.m.
Overall this was a great, clean place to stay. Very happy with cabin, location and hosts. Would stay again
Loved the cozy cabin! high quality and furnished very well, makes you feel at home. Lake nearby although it was too rainy/boggy for us to get close but very pretty. The cabin had everything we needed and was very clean and hospitable! Would definitely stay again!
Great quiet cabin. Saw several moose from the windows/directly outside! Small, but has everything that you'll need for a nice stay in the area.
It is a cozy cabin close to a lake. The owners live right next to the cabin and were helpful and friendly. That being said the cabin is too small for 3 adults. 2 adults and sleeping room for 2 children is OK. Kitchen only has space for 2 chairs. TV mounted but no cable connection or wifi.
Peaceful and relaxing!
Really enjoyed my quiet little cabin in the woods :) Would highly recommend! Great hosts and great communication!
Beautiful little cabin with everything you need. Close to so many things. Use as your home base as you see numerous places in alaska. Peaceful spot for a campfire. The hosts are so nice and a pleasure to talk to about alaska. Will definitely be back.
The cabin was exactly the way it was described. We enjoyed the location as it was perfect for day trips in every direction.
All the Alaskan feel in this cabin halfway between Anchorage and Talkeetna. Comfortable bed, running water, and perfect location for our 2 night stay.
This was a lovely place to stay and fit our needs perfectly. The cabin and property are just perfect and beautiful.
Good location to visit Matanuska Glacier. Very comfortable and cozy. Close to hiking trails.
This place is perfect. Far enough away to be private but close enough to plenty of fun stuff. I had to make a change to our reservations and Robin was great to deal with. She was able to make the necessary changes quickly and was very pleasant in doing so. Awesome place, great host.
It is a simple, clean and quiet place. I stayed there during a sled dog race with a trailer of 15 dogs. There was ample parking for the trailer and it was a quiet and safe environment, well suited for our weekend. I would personally add a bit more lighting to the kitchen area.
So far, I’ve had the best trip of my life! This was my first time coming to this beautiful state of Alaska. I was up here for 6 days and I’ve done so much and seen so much wildlife and nature that I’ll never forget! Thank you to the host for letting me stay in there beautiful warm comfy little cabin. I wish I had a cabin just like it back home
