Sierra City, California
Two story split level upper level with fully furnished kitchen, bathroom with tub, upstairs bedroom with pillowtop queen bed , large living/dining area with a deck access and fireplace. TV WiFi ceiling fan.
Downstairs there is a bedroom with full bed and a large room with queen bed, queen futon and wood stove. The house is serene and comfortable.
The house sits on a quiet frontage road and sits back from Highway 49. The convenience of being in town with the privacy of a back road. Parking enough for a a couple cars, trailer or boat.
House was great.
Clean and comfortable in the midst of clutter. Nice up to date bathroom. Working Wi-Fi a plus as there in no cell phone service in this area. Enjoyed the satellite TV to keep up with the outside world. A bit hard to find late at night ; and then there are the very irregular 25 steps down to the cabin. Not for the “faint of heart”.
Overall as expected, nice house surrounded by trees. The directions to the house could be worded better but we eventually found it. Nice, quiet couple of days.
The cabin was in such bad and unsafe conditions. We were suprised that someone would let rent the property in so dirty and unhygienic state. Upon entering the cabin there was unusual and unbearable smell that was reminiscent of animal urine and feces. The carpet was dirty, smelly, and stained. Entrance and patio was cluttered with objects indicating the place was being used a storage space. There was NO water coming from the bathroom shower. No one came to fix the water problem. The steps leading down to the cabin made of old, rotting, and loose wooden beams that posed falling hazard. Unleashed / strayed dogs roamed the property. There was impossible to stay and sleep there. My husband and I were forced to leave the cabin a few hours after arrival. I contacted the host but he was not willing to acknowledge the issues. This review should be a red flag to other people to stay AWAY from this cabin. All pictures and videos of this horrible place are taken and saved by myself.
The bad: the house is on a narrow one lane street on a hillside, next to a dilapidated neighbors house, & no gas station in town- not the fault of the owners. But upon entering, the patio is not lit and it was very dark in the early evening when we arrived, the light above door doesn’t work. The kitchen window is only partially covered with blinds, while the window next to the front door, and a window in one of the bedrooms did not have any covering. I had to tape paper to the window in the bedroom to avoid feeling exposed. The carpet is very stained, the railing on the deck outside is wobbly, the upholstery on the chairs at the kitchen table are all stained. I think all three beds are very old, two are extremely soft and you really sink in, the third was very hard. There is a blanket on the floor under part of the kitchen table covering where some carpet had been removed, which I wouldn't care about, but that blanket is also stained and looked pretty dirty. The remote for the ceiling fan (which was a must as we went on a hot weekend), was dirty. The good: it was quiet, the bathroom was clean, the kitchen was clean as were all the utensils/glasses, etc. The bedding was clean. It's nice to sit on the deck. There is no cell service but there is working wifi. The owner responded quickly when we let him know we were leaving a day early. I don't mind rustic, in fact I sometimes search it out. But unfortunately we didn't like this listing and will not be back.
Cute cabin, although quite dated. But had everything we needed. Right in the heart of Sierra City.
Nice cozy cabin with good parking. We really enjoyed relaxing on the deck.
Lots of room and easy access made this property very pleasant to visit.
I stayed at he cabin with 2 friends for 3 nights. The cabin is comfortable, rustic. The price was very reasonable.
Cozy cabin amongst a forest. Peaceful. Comfortable. Steep stairs getting down to the cabin from the street parking.
It was perfect for an easy week of kayaking and hiking up at the lakes. Love the Sierra Buttes area. We had some delicious dinners at the Sierra Pines and also Iron Door in Johnsville. Thank you!
Enjoyed our stay a lot. Convenient location, nice home with everything we needed and plenty of space for for party of four. Liked the balcony and the ground floor stayed cool enough for sleeping. Beautiful area, lovely lakes near by.
Accommodations were as expected, and great for a short trip with our four dogs. Power outage, exposed the need for a generator. We could make a fire to heat and cook, but there was no hot water to shower or soak after our cold and snowy hike. The beds were comfortable and linens soft. If we travel to the area again wth our dogs, we would definitely stay here again, but probably only in the warmer months when heat isn't an issue. It would be really cool to have a great pullout sofa in the living room so guests can enjoy the view by the fire. Overall, Sierra City is a really cool little town with nice people in a beautiful area, with many wonderful activities nearby for nature lovers.
Dad and I spent a week exploring the gold lake area. House was tye perfect base camp. Zero problems. Town is nice and friendly.
Beautiful spot, comfortable house
We noticed immediately that the house was homey and had a cozy feeling. We did have a glitch the first day of our stay, but the owner was there the next morning to make it right. We’d definitely like to stay again!! The downside was that there is no garage or parking pad at the house. Unfortunately, we had to park on the road.
