Belt, Montana
The Belt Creek Cabin is a log cabin located in historic Belt, Montana. Belt is in central Montana and is nestled between wheat farms, the Highwood Mountains, and the Little Belt Mountains. Soaring cliffs and precipitous ledges mark the Belt Creek Canyon as it slices out of the Little Belt Mountains and winds toward the town of Belt. Remains of mines, a railroad, and historic cabins line Belt Creek as it makes its way through the beautiful canyon carved in limestone. In fact, Sluice Boxes State Park, which resides in that canyon, is just beyond our front door. Belt gets its unusual name from nearby Belt Butte, a mountain with a belt of rocks encircling it.
The Belt Creek Cabin is a log cabin which includes a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dining area, and living area, and has beds for six guests. Relax outside on the beautiful decks, on which you can barbecue, visit with the local residents, and enjoy the beautiful view, including Belt Creek as it flows past the cabin. Take a short stroll down Castner Street to The Belt Commercial Historic District, which is on the National Registry of Historic Places.
Belt was settled as a coal camp in the late 19th century. It is a charming small town, surrounded with opportunities for hiking, hunting, fishing, cross country and downhill skiing, bike riding, bird watching, wildlife viewing, picnicking, photography, swimming, rafting, ice fishing, ATV, horseback riding and historical reminiscing. We have our own renowned brewery, which features Pig Ass Porter, Charlie Russell Red and Beltian White. Please see our “Things to Do” page for more information.
The local museum captures the history of Belt. Housed in the old town jail, the Belt Museum includes a jail cell, a coal mine exhibit, records, photos, and the work of local artists. Private tours can be arranged to see the Belt Museum. Belt also hosts an annual rodeo, spanning three days and attracting competitors from across the west.
In an easy day trip, you can even see dinosaurs at the Old Trail Museum in Choteau! If you like ghost towns, check out Barker & Hughsville. In Great Falls, a quick 15 minute drive, you can see one of the world’s largest freshwater springs, which was discovered by the Lewis & Clark Expedition, and flows at a rate of 156 million gallons of crystal clear water per day. Giant Springs creates the Roe River, once named the world’s shortest river in the Guinness Book of World Records. You can see the series of five waterfalls that the Lewis & Clark Expedition spent a full month portaging from the lower falls to the upper.
Belt is a great stopping point between Glacier National Park to the north, and Yellowstone National Park to the south. Great Falls International Airport is located within easy driving distance. Make us part of your journey. You won’t be disappointed.
Check out the area for things to do. A very interesting and fun area to visit.
Unique and comfortable. Should state that it comfortably sleeps 2, and can accommodate up to 4 others on a hide-a-bed couch and two small bunks in a closet. Sleeps 6 is accurate, but not comfortable.
Our stay was great and we really didn't have any complaints. Everything worked well and we had a good stay.
We enjoyed our stay tremendously. I wish we could have stayed longer. So easy to check in and out, and our questions and the change to the reservation were promptly answered. Very comfortable little cabin. We ate our meals on the back deck, listening to the creek. We walked everywhere around town. And sitting in peace and quiet at night, looking at the stars was restorative. 10/10 definitely renting again.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Cute, comfortable and convenient!
Enjoyable and cute cabin in the town of Belt with a lovely deck overlooking the Belt River. The primary issue was with wi-fi which wasn't strong enough for streaming (couldn't watch a movie) otherwise it was adequate. We never heard from the property manager which is why it wasn't rated. The only other comment was that the deck furniture was very dirty along with the windows (hard to see out of). Extra cleaning would make a huge difference.
Nice little cabin, has all the basics. Very nice deck for when the weather is good. Only thing to be aware of is it's very close to a popular bar and it can get a little noisy on the weekends, but if you don't mind that it's a great location not far from Great Falls.
It's a cozy winter stay not too far from Showdown Ski Area in a friendly Montana small town. Just what we were looking for. Thanks!
Property exactly as described. Central location for day trips. Easy walking to pubs and restaurant. Town locals super friendly and helpful.
We just love this cabin - it is clean and thoughtfully laid out. There is a deck in back overlooking Belt Creek. Food and drink is within easy walking distance.
This cabin had everything we needed and was in a great location for us to visit with our friends who live in belt
Our stay was perfect. Exactly where we needed to be. Only downfall was outdoor lighting by front door and back patio wasn’t working. Otherwise perfect!! Will definitely stay again
Very clean. Only problem was the electrical outlets in bathroom didn’t work. I think the GFI was not working.
Renting was very easy, secure and although we didn't plan on canceling our trip the cancelation policy was very accommodating to cover almost everything.
Belt is a lovely town to stay in.
