Summary:

Retreat to the outdoors in a space that's comfortable, approachable, and rejuvenating. The Dappled Light Cliffside Cabin is a beautiful space that you, your family, and/or your friends will feel at home in quickly! Freshly renovated and ready to rock, you'll have fully stocked kitchen appliances and tools, a huge sunrise/sunset deck, and a beautiful indoor living room with a view of the valley just outside the cabin.

The Space:

Surrounded by over 50 acresof national forest, with onsite hiking trails and nearby local attractions, you’ll be able to enjoy all of the adventure you want during the day and return to comfortable, cozy lodging at night.

Our cabin was handmade by a local builder from rough-hewn oak and pine. The inside is warm, inviting, and breathable, with a view that's impossible to beat. In the evening, after you've spent the day exploring the National Forest, go down near the cliff edge and enjoy a small campfire while you watch the sunset.

* Important: The max occupancy of this cabin is 5 people with a cot added. If you have special circumstances or want to bring more, please reach out to us directly at team@dappledlightadventures.com after booking

This space includes:

- 1 Queen Bed

- 1 Full Bed

- 1 Fold-Out Couch (Twin)

- Newly Remodeled Kitchen

- Bathroom

- Shower

- Private Porch with Canopy View

- Cots Available

Additional amenities include:

- Canopy Views

- Private Fire Pit (firewood not provided)

- On-site Bathhouse

- Outdoor Nets

** Our 50 acres has other short term rentals on-site, so the space is technically shared, however, the cabin is furthest from any communal areas (main camp, hiking trails, driveway)

Guest Access:

Please note that our new event space, The Rookery, is reserved exclusively for guests who have booked the entire property.

Access to all 50 privately owned acres.

Other Dappled Light guests will also have access. A hiking map is provided, along with signage on the property for hiking.

The Neighborhood:

On most of the 50 acres, you won't see anything man-made. This creates a fully immersive experience for you. Also, you’ll be on privately owned property with designated hiking trails (map included); please hike, explore, and allow yourself to be free!

* There are other guests that you’ll be sharing the 50 acres with, so don’t free yourself completely, if you know what we mean *

The property also has tons of natural features. The tents sit atop a giant horseshoe of cliff-edges; as you explore, you’ll find sweeping, scenic views of our valley, a waterfall, natural rock overhangs, creeks, and acres more of wildlife!

If you need to get off-property and want to do some fun, local activities, we’re within minutes of local attractions like world-class climbing and hiking, ziplining, underground kayaking (yeah, you heard us), horseback riding, and so many more things! Not to mention all of the wonderful local restaurants you can visit -- don’t worry, we’ve sampled them all and have listed our top 5 in the guestbook and on our website.

If you aren't familiar with Red River Gorge and the surrounding areas, don’t worry -- we'll send you a list of our favorite off-site activities. We want your time away to be extraordinary!

The host was an amazing communicator. They were extremely accommodating. The property was off the grid, with a kind of vibe with no wifi or television. I have an Apple phone, and my husband has an Android with AT&T as our wireless carrier. He was able to stream music and receive texts. My Apple phone was very hit and miss with reception, so be prepared for that. The living space and kitchen were very adequate, homey, and simply lovely. This was the perfect size for two adults. We stayed in the cabin all weekend for a few reasons (weather, not ideal driving conditions). I would definitely recommend all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. The path/driveway is some gravel and a lot of earth, which can be tricky in the rain and wet conditions. This was the perfect getaway for those looking for responsive and welcoming hosts, rustic and secluded accommodations, and a chance to be still in nature. I would highly recommend and will return!

My friend and I came down to kick off my early birthday celebration. We got there just before dusk and the view was breathtakingly beautiful. Not to mention we were at the end edge of a cliff in a literal tree house! The inside was beautiful, modern, cozy, & peaceful. It was EXACTLY what we needed. 10/10 definitely recommend. We will be back!

My husband and I were blown away by the view. We also loved being able to explore right from the cabin. The trails are well marked and the property is absolutely gorgeous. The cabin was clean and quaint and well thought out. The deck is serene--no other buildings in sight.. tons of birdsong such a nice weekend escape.
