Stayed Dec 31, 1969This cottage rental more than lived up to its billing as a typical Massachusetts fish camp built in the 40s. The setting - at the end of a long drive - ensures tranquility. The many cottages in the camp offer simple but clean comfortable and functional lodgings. Each cottage has its unique flair. Dick's Maggot is a single bed cabin with minimal kitchen right on the water's edge. Very romantic. The cabin we rented, Betty and Helen, is set back a bit from the pond. Its two bedrooms and tiny bathroom would suit a small family quite well. Since this cabin has no kitchen, it was rented to us along with another cabin, Liliburo, that had a nice dining area, porch overlooking the pond, and full kitchen. No bathroom in Liliburo. We lit fires two of three nights thanks to that quirky late august Massachusetts weather. Wood was provided -Thanks! As of this visit, Betty and Helen did not have a working fireplace but this was not an issue given the inclusion of Liliburoin our rental fee. I recommend arriving before dark as the cabin nameplates are hard to read in the dark. Also, be aware: the adjacent camp Pinewoods offers nightly traditional dancing and singing programs which some might consider disruptive. The programs are fairly lively with stamping, fiddling, yip-ping and some limited yee-hawing. While we were there, these went on from around nine to around eleven at night. We loved it. From our vantage point (Betty and Helen is the closest cabin to the festivities), the off-beat (think square dancing) accompaniment to our rural retreat was just a wonderful funky addition. The camp is fairly close to Boston (about an hour's drive), and about an hour's drive to the middle of Cape Cod. You can tour the area from here and there is much to see. But you can also rusticate in style and comfort on the banks of long pond.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We had a great experience, staying at Classic Fish Camp. It was so peaceful and really gave us a feeling of staying in the great outdoors. Our children loved it too-- the dock, forest, and canoe trips made such a positive impression on them (they are still asking to go back to the cabin). We were sad to leave. What a gem of a place. It was very clean and close to so much, for day trips and activities for all age groups. We brought bikes for the Myles Standish state park bike trails, which is really close by. One day we drove about 20 mins to Thomas Land (we have an obsessed three year old son) and of course spent time in Plymouth doing a little bit of history tourism. Again, Plymouth Rock was about a 20 min drive. Just enjoying the tranquility of the Classic Fish Camp would make for a great vacation as well. Oh, and we were really surprised to find that by the end of the trip, not one of us got a single mosquito bite! We would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives, and would love to return for another getaway.

Stayed Jul 1, 2016We really enjoyed our stay at these quaint cabins. this spot was perfect for kayaking and my boys loved jumping off of the docs! The owners were friendly but not overbearing and responded promptly when it was noted that a board on the doc had rotted (it was fixed immediately). The porch in Lilli cabin was awesome for hanging out and playing cards

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The Fish Camp was spectacular. No TV and no Continental Breakfast. You can get that anywhere. But if you're looking for a place that is extraordinarily off the beaten path and not run of the mill, this is your place. For a cabin-like stay, the sleeping accommodations were perfectly adequate. For a cabin-like stay, the kitchen accommodations were perfectly adequate. Don't be afraid of the outdoor shower as it truly has plenty of hot water and plenty of privacy. The property has access to a water front. Great place to swim and the dock is a great place to pull up your lawn chair with your favorite adult beverage to simply watch the sun go down. This dock is a wonderful place to meet up with your neighbors and visit and just enjoy the passing of the time. At night I was serenaded to sleep by crickets and the usual sounds of the outside forest, but also by the Pinewoods Camp Orchestra and Dancers. It was great to listen to a whole bunch of people having a whole lot of fun. I will highly recommend this property to my friends and family and anybody who cares to ask me about my trip to the area. The owners provided great customer care and were very accommodating. I cannot say enough positive about this property. What a gem.
