Yea thats right 26 inches, caught by myself (Green Drake Parachute Emerger) thing looked more like a salmon then a trout. Lot's of The Most beatitful Brookies i have ever seen, and up to 16 i
Re-Hab: The house is finished a total re-hab. We have built a brand new kitchen and turned the old kitchen into an additional bed room, now there are 4, and the living room and sun room sleeper sofas, we raised the ceiling in the living room added a wood burning stove with a stone surround. And a 54' hi-def flat screen TV. Hard Wood floors have been installed throughout. All flower bed retain walls have been rebuilt and a complete new landscape was installed.
What a unique location! The adjacent small campground at Poe Paddy State Park is just the kind of great spot we would normally love to go tent camping, but it was even better to be in the same location but with comfortable beds, beautiful showers and a hot tub! Can't wait to come back again and explore more of the area. Many opportunities for outstanding tube floats and bike rides right out of the door. Poe Haven is a beautiful property which is well maintained with very nice decor and furniture.
We were able to relax and felt like we were away from everything. Great access to creek for fishing or tubing/kayaking. Trails were right there for biking/hiking. Outdoor cooking area and fire pit made it even more special. All the amenities make it an ideal place for family. All conveniences right there!
Beautiful home. Well-appointed. Peaceful. Great gathering place for our daughter's graduation. The only negative is that I didn't realize how long it would take to get to the house from State College (but that's on me). My husband and I agreed it would be a wonderful place to get away to relax, hike, etc. We would definitely recommend it to people for that purpose. Lovely home.
Perfect setting!! Had every amenity you could imagine! We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return! Thank you for sharing your wonderful home!
If you are looking for a remote setting with access to hiking, biking, fishing and star gazing in a beautiful home… look no further. The home is very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. The outside kitchen is great for grilling and just a few steps from the massive fire pit. For the nights that you don’t want to cook Millheim, PA is a twenty-some minute drive – there is a great brew pub with lots of great food and beer selections. The internet is more than adequate for keeping up with email, streaming music and general internet browsing. The house is cozy enough for a couple but spacious enough to share with family and friends! We loved our time in Poe Haven and hope to return in the future.
We had a wonderful experience staying at this cabin. I was familiar with the area since I was a child. I was great to reconnect with the Poe Valley.
Would return again. Very peaceful area and the cabin is great.
My husband and I were looking for a place to stay with our son and his family. Grandkids range from age 1-14, so we wanted a place with a wide option of activities in the area. Poe Haven checked all the boxes! The older kids loved the hot tub, local beach, and tubing, and my husband and son got out to do a little fishing (never enough time to do all the fishing they wanted!). My daughter in law and I made use of the lovely patio furniture to get in a little reading, and the little ones loved the beautiful patio, playing with the outdoor toys and bubbles that the grandparents brought. And of course, everyone loved the huge firepit and s’mores at night! On the one day that rained, we drove to nearby Penn Cave and took a boat ride through an impressive underground cave. Our only suggestion might be a rewrite of the directions to find the place - mileage between landmarks (ie: drive 3 miles until you see a wooden bridge) would be very helpful! Otherwise, we recommend this beautiful house highly! Thank you for a great vacation!
Clean, comfortable and quiet house in beautiful Poe Paddy State Park. The location is peaceful and relaxing. We visited with six 12-19 year olds. The house had lots of space for everyone. The location provided plenty of outside activities: fishing, hiking and outdoor living . The kids enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub. You disconnect while staying at this property. We really enjoyed Poe Haven.
The house is fantastic!! The long stretch of unpaved roads to the house was a bit much, but worth the ride!
