Other nearby attractions include gem mining at Jackson Hole and antiquing at the nearby Whistle Stop. There are plenty of attractions, restaurants, and local festivals/events in nearby Franklin and Highlands. Google the Discover Franklin, NC tourism and Macon County Chamber of Commerce websites for attractions and festival/event schedules. 45-minute drive to Cherokee and the Smoky Mountains.
Built in 2018 by Green River Cabins, this "Yearling" model cabin is fully furnished with a kitchen that is ready for cooking, cozy breakfast bar, and barstools, a living room with dual recliner love seat, an electric fireplace, and TV with Blu-Ray/DVD player, full bedroom with a queen-sized bed and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space for all of your personal items, compact washer and dryer, and bathroom with 48” shower, ceiling fans in the living room/kitchen area and bedroom. There is a gas grill on the deck for grilling and rocking chairs to sit and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountain across the canyon.
The cabin is equipped with Starlink satellite internet service at the cabin with free wi-fi. Speeds can vary depending on weather and other factors, but it's more than plenty for 2 people (50-100mbps, often more). For streaming, web surfing and e-mail, it works great, although you may experience occasional lag on teleconferencing apps until Starlink gets more satellites in the air over the Eastern US, which will be soon.
There is a 50" Roku smart TV in the living room with Blu-Ray player and a selection of DVDs. There is a 32" Roku smart TV in the bedroom. You can log in to your favorite streaming services with Roku (Sling, Hulu, YoutubeTV, Netflix, Amazon, Disney, etc.) and enjoy your favorite shows and movies in the cabin. There is no landline telephone service or local TV channels.
Cellular service in the mountains is spotty so we have installed a cellular booster kit at the cabin. AT&T works best (3-5 bars), Verizon gets a fair service (1-2 bars). One of our recent guests that has Sprint reported that they had cell service at the cabin. We have not tested with other carriers. Cell phone reception can vary depending on the time of year (tree cover), weather, and the phone's internal antenna (some models are better than others). Voice service usually works better than data service.
We hope you’ll love our little cabin as much as we do and that you will feel relaxed, refreshed, renewed, and reconnected after your stay.
The driveway is a little steep and gravel. We highly recommend an AWD/4WD vehicle or at least a full-size rear-wheel-drive vehicle to climb to the top of the driveway to park next to the cabin (We have no problems with a Honda Ridgeline AWD). Driveway conditions can change due to weather (rain, leaves). The upper parking area can accommodate two vehicles.
We have added a new parking area at the base of the driveway to accommodate guests with a smaller front-wheel drive vehicle which will likely not be able to get up to the top of the drive. It is about a 75' walk uphill from the lower parking area up to the cabin. The lower parking area can accommodate one vehicle.
Smoking is allowed outside on the deck with the doors closed, but not inside the cabin.
There is an additional 10% discount for stays 7 nights or longer.
This little cabin is so cozy. Everything you need to have an enjoyable stay. The view can’t be beat. Host was very helpful.
Perfect location for a couple wanting to be isolated from most of the world. Great place to stay in and read, or to drive a few miles to hike, shop, or eat. We hope to have the opportunity to return several times.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Black Bear Cove! What a cozy little cabin with every amenity you need. The only issue we had was the steep driveway (which owner did warn about) but we made it up each time! I'm just glad my husband did the driving and we were in his Nissan truck. The cabin was perfect for our 35th wedding anniversary weekend. Thanks so much!
This property is just the right distance from congestion to be peaceful and quiet, and yet not inconvenient. The entire location is very well kept and clean. There are numerous modern conveniences. And the manager is easy to communicate with. Overall, a great place to stay.
property was just what we needed. We enjoyed our stay. Very nice!
Great cabin. Will definitely stay again.
We were thoroughly pleased with the cabin it was gorgeous and set upon a hill where the view was stunning and yes the drive way was Streep . The only downfalls we’re no internet and since we own 3 businesses and needed it it was a little rough but we made do by going to town but they made up for that by supplying tons of awesome movies to watch and it gave quality time with my wife. Definitely no interruptions . The lower parking space was not explained very well so we brought out motorcycles in my trailer and that did not work as its super tiny so we had to go find parking but as a whole it rocks just don’t take a trailer.
Beautiful cabin to unwind and relax. Way up in the woods with a lovely view from the doors and deck. All the essentials and amenities you need. Great central location for day trips to surrounding mountain towns. Highly recommend!
A cute and perfect place for mountains and hiking.
My friend and I stayed here a few days ago. Very nice, cozy, high up, well kept property with scenic overlook of woods below from deck. There was a slight issue with the toilet not flushing (not from any objects we placed there other than regular human waste) and filling up one morning. The plunger didn't seem to work, and we had to leave it for a preplanned hike. However, it ended up going down some while were out and finally went all the way down later that evening with more plunging so we didn't contact the property manager. Other than that slight inconvenience it was a great stay. Its best to have a 4x4 vehichle being that it is so high up and the path is gravel. However, we did manage the climb in our car in reverse due to RWD. The day we left there was a car that came up and parked in front of the shed as we were about to get in the car and leave. I figured it was the property manager (but not certain) and wanted to say hello and compliment the place in person, but they did not get out of the car so we eventually left. Great, comfy stay though!
We really enjoyed our time at the cabin. We cooked breakfast every morning and even watched a dvd one evening. The cabin is well stocked with everything you need to cook and to make your stay comfortable. We enjoyed a picnic at Tiger Mountain Vineyards, a visit to the falls, and even saw the Gatlin Brothers while we were there. We really enjoyed our visit to Foxfire museum and even found time to visit a flea market and shop for antiques. We will definitely be back.
It was a nice relaxing stay. Loved the smell of cedar it meet our exact expectations. Thank you for opening your cabin for us to enjoy.
We loved everything about this cabin - great location and cozy space, and the host was very helpful and responsive. We especially loved the bear themed decor.
This is a great getaway for two. My husband picked this as a getaway before school starts back. Teaching takes over when it does. This is surrounded by sweet little towns. It’s not far from Franklin, Highlands or Bryson City. We explored all 3. There are some great places to hike near by too.. We also explored Glen Falls. I dislocated both my knees and we stayed at the cabin and rested the whole last day. The recliners and pillows came in handy to get the swelling down. This cabin is so adorable. It has such a cute bear theme throughout. I absolutely could not have been happier with our stay. Bed was comfy. Kitchen has everything you need as well. We will be back. Thanks for making everything so carefree and easy.
This was the perfect cabin for my husband and I to get away in! It is fully stocked with everything you will need and very clean with a great view and a comfortable bed. Stop at a grocery store before you get to the cabin because you will not want to leave and it will take about an hour to go to town and back. We enjoyed hiking all the nearby waterfalls, ate dinner at the Lazy Hiker in Franklin the first night and ate at the Ugly Dog in Highlands the second night. The cabins description will tell you that you need a 4 Wheel Drive or all wheel drive. This is not a joke! There is a very small pad to park your car at the bottom of the hill but it is very compact. The view from the bedroom and living room of this cabin is so beautiful and just hanging out at the cabin is so comfortable and fun. We will stay again!!
Excellent view despite the challenging location, but it’s the mountains so it’s to be expected. Friendly neighbors and a quick drive down to Franklin will get you just about anything you need. Depending on your provider service is really spotty so keep that in mind. Otherwise a good little get away for 2 if you need to unwind.
driveway a little steep but i managed it in my crv
My wife and I decided to stay here for our honeymoon, and it was the best decision we could have made! It sounds small, but it was the perfect size for two people. Everything was labeled and the cabin was well stocked from dishes and pots and pans to a wide variety of DVDs. The driveway is steep, but with 4 wheel drive you can get up to the top. There is even a mountain view from the French doors in the bedroom. 10/10 recommended!
