Mountain log cabin living can be a blast when you know what to expect. There are a few more details to ponder as you plan this time of year: 4X4 wheel drive recommend in the likely case of snow packed road conditions. CDOT does an amazing job of keeping the main highway and road to the cabin plowed, but storm depending, plowing may not align with your arrival - departure timing. It will be important to check weather and road conditions week of your trip to ensure you pack and plan accordingly. Snow shoveling may be necessary to access drive - walk ways during your stay as there is no staff on site. The main heat sources: fireplace in living room, potbelly stove in front room, 1 propane unit in middle room, 2 infrared electric heaters.

This 100 year old cabin was well-equipped with everything we needed for our 4 night stay. We liked that it was located in a quiet setting, but still close to RMNP and Estes Park. A highlight of our stay was seeing a group of big horn sheep (a ram and 4 ewes) just a short distance from the cabin.
My family stayed here for a long weekend hiking trip. We loved this cabin. It's quaint and rustic but still offers all the modern amenities you'd need for an escape from the hustle and bustle of life. The host met us at check in and made sure any questions were answered. Allenspark is a great alternative to the much more touristy Estes Park.
We loved the isolated location and appreciated Jack welcoming us on arrival and showing us through the house and giving overview of the area. Disappointed we didn't see the moose or bears. The two suggestions I would make - 1. send the welcome letter out a little sooner as we received it too late to adjust our packing based on the what to bring list. 2. While the directions to the cabin were spot on and easy to follow, Waze didn't recognize the street name. Maybe mention that GPS programs will get you to Allenspark but may not recognize the address and to just follow the written directions provided.j Thanks again.
This cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Not completely off the grid (we had work to do) but far enough off it to enjoy nature in a beautiful little mountain town. The cabin was decorated perfectly and very cozy. The hosts were awesome. Available quickly with responses to our questions . Jack has some really good stories to tell. Close to Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park. Good hiking trails near the cabin. Nice river to enjoy in the back. There is a natural fresh water spring right down the road from the cabin where you are free to fill up your containers, the water is cold and delicious, although the cabin water is tasty as well! We also recommend Rock Creek Tavern and Pizzeria, and for breakfast or lunch Meadow Mountain Cafe. Yummy!!! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in this perfect cabin and will be back again. We recommend this place highly. Thank you Jack and Desra!
We were so amazed at how neat this old cabin was. It has an addition put on ,but it Blended beautiful. The creek out back was a nice retreat. All the little rustic decorations were perfect . All very accessible. But stairs were very narrow.and a bit scary to walk up and down. Aside from that I can't find anything wrong .it's a short drive to estes.and a cute little country store literally around the corner. We stayed a week ,will definitely stay again. !!
The title explains it. The stairs to the second floor were very narrow, with the chance of hitting your head. On the lower level, the bathroom was farther away than we thought. To me, the rentals should give a drawing of the layout of the housing so the renter has a better idea of where rooms are located. The photos always show the best portions of the property.
We really enjoyed this cabin for our family vacation. Plenty of space with a lovely outdoor space, easy drive to RMNP.
Serene, rustic but modern cabin in a spectacular setting. Away from crowds but convenient to Estes. Property owners were wonderful. Evenings on deck were refreshing after hiking trails in RMNP. One of my most pleasant VRBO experiences. Highly recommend for all ages. Cabin stays cool most days.
We loved the beautiful, immaculately decorated cabin. It was bigger than we expecting and we kept being surprised by all of the thoughtful, adorable touches around every corner. We felt right at home. There was tons of fun games around. It was great to hear the stream with my morning coffee on the back deck each day. Thank you for all the time and love you put into your home! It was wonderful to stay there.
Cascading Creek was a lovely place to stay and the owners were great. The location was perfect, especially if you want to get away from the busy town of Estes. We loved the pizza right down the road at Rock Creek Tavern; refilled our water bottles from the local creek; enjoyed shopping at The Old Gallery; and an amazing Horse Back Trail Ride at Meeker Stables. All of these places were mere minutes from Cascading Creek. Of course we hiked at RMNP and enjoyed that as well. The babbling creek in the back of the cabin was very relaxing and we loved the hidden trinkets all of the property that were fun to find. The owners definitely paid attention to the details. :)
