Lovely stay. Clean. Quiet.
I really liked this place for 2 adults and 2 elementary age children. The hot tub wasn't in best shape... Many jets didn't work well, but kids enjoyed it anyway. Music/playlist on SONOS was excellent. Internet was good enough for some last minute work. The street is a dirt road, but a 4 wheel drive vehicle is not needed. Whoever wrote that before, just can't drive. I would definitely consider staying here again if coming back to area.
The house was clean and comfortable. It was quiet and a perfect location if you want to get away to the mountains.
I never am one to write an unfavorable review. Honestly, I love giving 5 stars and when a place doesn’t meet expectations I have a hard time leaving a critical public review. While we enjoyed our stay, there were a few issues I think were too important not to mention for other prospective renters. First, I reached out to the rental property contact prior to arrival via the email provided and they never replied. Not too serious at the time as I just had a small question, but after the issues we encountered at the rental I wish we would have had a responsive contact person. Next, for anyone renting here you should know about accessing the property. It is a dirt mountain road, and it is VERY uneven. We were in a pick up truck with 4WD so not an issue for us, but had we driven 5 hours to get there in a sedan, only to find out we couldn’t get close enough to the property to stay we would have been extremely disappointed. We have lots of experience with mountain house stays, mountain roads, and driving unpaved and off road type conditions and I can’t imagine anyone without a truck or SUV would be able to get to this property. And I saw nothing indicating this in the listing for the property. At the rental both the fireplace was non functioning and the hot tub was broken and needed maintenance. Again we have a hot tub so we are familiar with working them. There was some issue with the heater and the water would not warm up. These two things are such a disappointment, because being on vacation these are the nice amenities I was looking to have. Had I known this property did not have a working fireplace or hot tub I would have chosen to stay somewhere else.
nice and comfortable stay- recommend for a couple. we loved exploring the area and found the property to be comfortable and relaxing. we appreciate the dog friendly property!!
Nice property as described- always thankful to find a place that we can travel with our dogs. Perfect for one a couple.
The property was located in a small uphill neighborhood from the Shenandoah River. The cabin was located on a larger property with a larger yard. The hot tub is located on the deck which faced the back yard semi secluded by larger trees. There was a fire pit and an in-ground grill. The exterior is very basic, however all of the decor was lovely and up-to-date with full internet access, and television. The was rafting/canoeing/kayaking rental 5 min away.
What a hidden gem in Luray! The house is well appointed and so very peaceful. We loved the hot tub too. The road heading up to the house is a steep hill which is not paved - but our mini van handled it just fine! Close to Luray Caverns and Shenendoah - the kids were already asking to come back as we drove away!
We enjoyed this cabin to get away from the city for the holiday weekend. The location is great and the space is exactly what is needed for a long weekend. The hot tub was fabulous and we enjoyed watching the sun rise from the deck.
We enjoyed our stay here so much, would definitely stay here again! It was just what we were looking for, with the location out in the country and up a winding gravel road! The town of Luray was quaint and we adored it and really enjoyed the amazing caverns located there! Hot tub was a plus! Highly recommend for a nice wintery getaway!
