Knoxville, Tennessee
This a one room waterfront cabin with a cathedral ceiling and polished concrete floor. Sleeping arrangements include queen size bed and one twin bed in the loft. There are no separate bedrooms. There is one private bath with a shower (no tub). Bed linens and towels are provided. The kitchen is stocked with the basic eating and cooking equipment, microwave, mini refrigerator, stove, and coffee maker. Outdoor charcoal grill and fire pit are also available for you use. You have a beautiful view of the river and Islands from the front porch. There is kayak, canoe, paddle board access/ramp on the property and a dock on the river. Fish for small mouth bass, trout, or skip jack heron off the dock. You can occasional spot a bald eagle perched in the trees along the banks of the Holston River, observe river otters, water fowl (ducks, geese, herons), or deer wading the river. The cabin is only 1.5 miles from Interstate 40 (I-40) and minutes from downtown Knoxville and the University of Tennessee campus. Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park are just a short drive away. I-40 Interstate overpass is adjacent to the property. You can hear the traffic noise from I-40 and an adjacent highway. You will have full access of the entire cabin, dock and canoe ramp. The East Knoxville Fishing Club has access to the Holston River through this property, so it is possible to have a fisherman park in the area or at the canoe ramp for a few hours. The ramp is at the opposite end of the property from where the cabin is located. There is no cable TV (local channels only) and no wi-fi included; however, cell service is strong in the area.
We had a great weekend and the cabin that we stayed in made a big impact on that. It was secluded and private yet close to town. It was so nice to have privacy and scenery to enjoy. The cabin was quite spacious and located with a lovely view of the Holston River. My husband enjoyed fishing even though he didn't catch anything!! Just the location close to town and yet seemed so far away from the mainstream of the craziness of everyday life was wonderful! There is everything that you could possibly need within a 15 minute trip including Starbucks!
This cabin was everything we could have hoped for. It was nice being just outside of Knoxville, but also having privacy in the woods. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for relaxation while staying in Knoxville.
Great place to stay. Owner was available for any questions. Cabin was stocked with essentials and very well kept. Would love to return in the future.
Great stay! Excellent in every way. Close to downtown but in the woods. Spacious and well appointed. Historical! Deer, eagle, baby beavers, fishing, kayaking and minutes from the city. Canโt wait to go back.
Beautiful cabin, great communication with the owner. Close to the river. Will definitely stay again.
This weekend was exactly as described and expected. It was clear upon arrival that the property manager truly cared to make our stay absolutely perfect. We'll definitely be back!
My husband and I enjoyed a long weekend on the river at this cabin. It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. It was only about 15 minutes from downtown Knoxville and we loved waking up and having our coffee on the porch overlooking the river. We loved going hiking on House Mountain, walking the river at Ijams Nature Center, and eating our way through downtown. Bonnie was very helpful and easy to work with.
I absolutely loved this tiny house cabin. Very well designed, lovely, clean and though relatively new it's exterior conciously and carefully retain the look of an older time (without feeling plastic or disneyland at all. It's one huge beautiful room contemporary yet charming. The kitchen has a clean, contemporary with a vintage charm, nice quality and if you need it, it's there. Now...the decks and dock are set in a lovely deciduous forest and there were soul soothing, warm and with a spectacular view of a confluence of eddys, fast moving river with swirling shoals packed with hungry fish, geese, hawks, birds and crickets ,(I miss crickets). Yes, I am a big fan of this spot and its hosts Bonnie Anderson and the talented builder Bill Anderson. You are near the city, but not of it. I didn't miss wifi at all and when I wanted a lazy moment I easily streamed Netflix etc on my smart phone. I bought a cheap bluetooth speaker and streamed music all day. I took tons of pics so I can copy Bonnie and Bill's outstanding style if I ever get to move to this beautiful state. I will be back!
We came up for the UT/UF game. Really enjoyed the cabin about 10 min from downtown and stadium. Enjoyed downtown and all restaurants but nice to go back to the cabin and relax on the river. Would certainly come back.
We loved our stay in this beautiful cabin. It was well equipped and clean. We also enjoyed watching the river from the porch. My husband even caught some fish. The highway noise wasnโt an issue for us.
The cabin is perfect. Unfortunately the area is not as described. Very noisy near the interstate. The Current in the River was very strong-too strong for a kayak or small boat. Loved the cabin though.
Excellent stay
My husband and I enjoyed getting away from everyone and just relaxing for a long weekend. The cabin was perfect.
The cabin had all the amenities we needed. The host included many extra touches that made us feel special. It was cozy yet spacious! The riverfront was amazing . We saw Bald Eagles and Blue Heron.
Overall, this is a lovely cabin. It was very clean and comfortable to stay there. It has all the basic features you expect (dishes, pots & pans, silverware, linens, towels, etc.) plus a lot of little extras that you don't expect (plug-in night lights in the bathroom and by the bed, cleaning supplies, trash bags, indoor/outdoor thermometer, suitcase racks, extra blankets, a welcome binder of information including local restaurants, etc.). I loved being right on the river. The porch was awesome with rocking chairs and tables. With the dock right there, I'd wished I knew how to kayak, so I could have gotten on the water. The boat launch provided an excellent place to wade out into the river. The water was really cold (It's barely spring, so of course it was cold), so I didn't try swimming. The fire pit was a nice perk that I hadn't realized was part of the property. Bonnie provided excellent communication before, during, and after my trip. The only down to the trip was the close proximity of both the interstate (I-40) and the highway behind the house. These are mentioned in the listing and Bonnie mentioned them when I was booking, so there was clear communication there. Some others who have reviewed this property compared it to white noise once they got settled and to some degree that is true. However, if you are a light sleeper (like I am), then I would suggest bringing earplugs for sleeping.
