This cabin has a lot of character. Love the old hardwood floors and the large bedroom. The only issue that would have made it better is the air conditioner not being able to keep up with the heat during the day. Wonderful stay!
The cottage was nice and relaxing. Wasn’t too pleased with the location for walking down to Front St, but overall stay was nice.
Quaint cabin. Clean and tidy interior. Everything worked, and they gave a nice gift basket! About a 5-10 minute walk to Front Street and the Natchitoches Downtown. I would rent from this host again for Christmas Fest!
We enjoyed our stay at this quaint cabin. We walked to Front Street, took a walking tour with Jacob, enjoyed a cruise on a paddle wheeler, and walked to mass on Sunday for an uplifting sermon. We also visited Melrose and Oakland Plantations! We were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Natchitoches and the “Creole Cabin in the City!” PS....Our gift basket was a pleasant surprise and certainly appreciated!
Nice log house very conveniently located near town in Natchitoches. We walked to the Christmas Lights and fireworks. Had a great time. Our host, Marie was helpful. We made some special memories.
The property manager was awesome to work with, responded quickly to all correspondence and answering questions when I was in the property. It is a comfortable home close to shops and restaurants. The house was very clean, everything worked and I felt safe staying there. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and plan to be back next year.
Cabin is cute. The location is great to walk downtown for an amazing dinner or festival. We were able to pick this up last minute, and Maria took very good care of us. Would stay here again! It was our first time to this area and we will stay here again!
I had an excellent stay. Everything was as described in the listing. This certainly is a historic cabin all the way down to the beautiful original hard wood floor. The people managing the property were exceptional nice and willing to do anything to improve my stay. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, everything was great.
Couldn't wait to drive 4.5 hours for the Festival of Lights in Natchitoches! Got last minute reservations - told we just got the only spot left at the double. The other side was NEVER occupied while we were there... Now I know why! Proximity to Front street was the only truth. Building is in poor shape. Not charmingly quirky as others have attested to- dirty, peeling paint, spiders, dead flies, musty smelling, and in sketchy, depressed neighborhood. Mattress is ancient and lumpy. Had to change my socks after walking on the floors. No greeting or specialty for opening holiday weekend, however Christmas tree was found decorated in a closet. No maid service, put out your own garbage, clean out the frig, lots of do this, don't do that.... or else an extra charge may be incurred. An up front cleaning fee imposed, yet property was not clean. I rent low income housing - this would never have passed any inspections for any of our tenants. Overpriced, underwhelmed, and feel totally taken advantage of. Could be a really great place if owner or manager would take the time to clean the fans, blinds and window sills, update the mattress and sofa with rips on the arm edges, get the paint out of the tub, and fix the kitchen cabinets. Empty curtain rods in bedroom give an unfinished look. Oh - and if you don't want people to burn candles, why leave a previously used one on the mantle? Oh - and don't forget the train that passes across the street at 3:30 am... Finally - We had to wash our clothing and outerwear when we got home because it all smelled so dank after just two days! Just to let possible visitors know - Almost every shop and restaurant is closed on Sunday- even on the opening weekend of Festival of Lights. Many of the shops closed on Saturday evening before the fireworks! And don't look for a breakfast spot - these are few and far between unless you want fast food joints or IHOP. Monday morning was just as desolate in the breakfast field. The best food we had was at Roma's on the other side of the bridge off of Kayser. Delicious Italian food and outstanding service. My recommendation - stay at one of the bed and breakfasts on Second Street or Front Street or the Chateau St Denis if you want to enjoy yourself and sleep well.
We stayed here when we visited Natchitoches for the Christmas Festival. The location was a ten minute walk to Front Street, which was convenient and does not require negotiating parking. The neighborhood where the cabin is was quiet but run down. The cabin was cute on the outside but it has been neglected for repairs and updates. The cabin needs to be leveled and repairs to the floor and walls needed where it is sinking. Wasp nests on the front of the house need to be cleaned up and overall updating to the bathroom and kitchen would improve the look and feel. It was pretty expensive given the deterioration of the cabin. They could also offer more television channels (very few offered), movies/DVD player, and board games would be nice to provide additional entertainment when weather is bad. The host was nice and check in/out was easy. We won’t stay here again though until more money and work is put in to the upkeep of this place.
This cabin is a no-nonsense and no thrills type of property. For my husband and I, that worked out just fine. As other reviewers might have mentioned the pictures paint a better picture oh, I agree with that however there's absolutely nothing wrong with the cabin. It's close to everything that you would want to do in the area. And we found the neighborhood to be very quiet.
