Camp Meeker, California
This is a true getaway. We searched the enitre area of the Russian River before we settled on this property. Camp Meeker is unique with its logging history, post San Francisco earth quake. After it was done as a logging camp it was developed as a vacation community. Families have owned properties for multi generations and some became full time residents. It is fun to hear the family histories and tales of days gone by. It is central to the RussianRiver, ocean, Redwoods, wine country, and all of the entertainment, activities, and open countryside of West Sonoma county. The cabin is a great place to leave your daily life behind and truly disconnect. We get some cell coverage, but its more a place to reconnect to each other. We enjoy sharing our space with friends and family, but both agree, it is best with just us two. We chose to not put TV, and all of the other distractions of daily life so that it would feel like time away from our daily life. We have shared some of our best meals in our backyard Redwood grove. It's a place to come home to after a day of enjoying what you love to do outside, enjoy a GREAT SHOWER and a fantastic night of rest. The entertainment available in West Sonoma county is endless, via festivals, wineries, and farm trails. Where there is wine there is great food. We are pet friendly to responsible and well trained owners of pets. It is necessary to advise us in advance of any booking request that includes bringing a pet. We do not have complete fencing, so your dog can not be left unattended out of doors and must have good indoor manners. We love the children we raised as I am sure you love yours, but our cabin is made as a true getaway..

Me and my friends drove from Michigan to compete in the Santa Rosa Ironman and this beautiful property was the perfect place to stay and relax before our race. Absolutely perfect!
We feel blessed to have stumbled onto this cabin! Far exceeding our expectations. The subtle personal touches made it a special weekend celebrating our anniversary. We look forward to returning another time!!
Very private location, yet just a few miles out of Occidental. Great place
Beautiful property with a cozy cabin. Great place to explore Western Sonoma County from.
We’ve stayed in cabins all over the area and this is probably our favorite one for its location and comfort. It’s nestled in a quiet setting but still close to all our favorite spots. Bed is comfy, shower is great, kitchen stocked with essentials, and wifi works consistently. Owner is terrific. Would love to come back in warmer weather to enjoy the lovely outdoor space too. We hope you pick another spot for your trip so we can have this gem all to ourselves!
We arrived at Camp Meeker Christmas Eve day for a 4 day stay and loved it. Everything other reviewers say about beauty, relaxation, convenience, peace and quiet, etc. is true. The bed is super comfortable. The views out into the cathedral of redwoods are stunning. It would be worth buying the cabin just so you could use its shower every day--it's that cool. We cooked in most nights and found everything we needed in the kitchen (maybe another large pot or pasta cooker would come in handy). The cabin and property are beautifully appointed, and we especially appreciated the effort the owners made to decorate for the holiday--lovely, with lots of details, but in keeping with the woodsiness of the retreat. Highly recommended, and we will certainly come back.
My husband and I had a great getaway! We enjoyed the cabin so much. It is neat and clean and the layout is nice and open. The location provides easy access to biking, hiking, wine tasting, and meandering through shops. The scenery is gorgeous. We highly recommend a stay here.
Everything about the cabin was wonderful, its close to all the local attractions, and felt like home, all the cabins amenities were great the shower was huge, the bed comfortable, the sitting areas (inside and out ) were great. We cant wait to be able to come back again!
What can I say! Our experience exceeded our expectations and we have high standards! The cabin had so much charm and amenities you don't expect - they literally thought of everything. Little things like an awesome shower, light and fan switches by the bed, nice windows with screens, plenty of comfortable furniture, BBQ grill and great backyard seating area including a fire pit for the cold evenings - all located in the middle of tall redwoods that provided a nice cool shade. It's like being in a treehouse - very serene and relaxing! The location was so quiet and yet, 20 minutes from the beach, the river, great restaurants, golf, and so many trails. We were fortunate enough to stay for a month and loved everyday of it. Oh, did I mention the wine tasting? I challenge anyone to try make it to all the wineries in the area in one month!
We (partner, pup, and I) were incredibly lucky to be able to stay here for March. If you like redwoods, redwoods in the mist, hiking in the redwoods, smelling the redwoods, hearing and ravens fly through the redwoods, then this place is for you. The owners have done a lot of work on the cabin, and the results are excellent. In terms of vibe, the floor plan is open and airy, with huge windows to better see the redwoods and tasteful decorations. The bed was super comfy and when you wake up, you see redwoods. The shower is big, beautiful, hot, high pressure. We did a lot of intense cooking in the kitchen, which is well supplied with all the tools you need (although bring a knife if you're picky) and a gas(!) stove. There's a gas grill and firepit, too. BYOWood. Camp Meeker is really quiet and the neighbors are friendly. It's also about as dog-friendly as can be. There are miles of trails that begin literally across the street. They pass some nice redwoods and GIANT Douglas fir and go along redwood-filled stream valleys and look out over redwood-filled valleys. We had the dog off leash basically the entire time with no trouble (and we hardly saw anyone). Watch out for ticks! In terms of location, it's a couple of minutes from Occidental, convenient to Sebastopol (15 mins) and surrounding, gorgeous wine country, and convenient to the Sonoma Coast. There are loads of stunning road biking options - we went along Coleman Valley Road to Bodega Bay. Definitely visit Wild Flour Bread Bakery, the Grove of Old Trees, and Shell Beach. The owners were generous, hands off, and straightforward, and the obviously work to make you feel welcome and provide suggestions to enjoy the location. We didn't have any trouble with the place, so just communicated at the beginning and end. It was all easy.
