I loved the forest access. It was a huge bonus for me. I also loved how close it was to all the other hiking areas and cloudcroft/Alamagordo. Another bonus is hpw dark it gets at night and how little light pollution there is whoch allows to see stars. Even better, the forest was accessible at night which gave way to all kinds of great opportunities for astrophotography. Excellent place. The cabin was nice and comfortable and kept me warm and dry and had plenty of hooks, table tops, and racks to place my things on as I am weird and uptight about placing my items on the floor. I did walk barefoot a few times and the floors felt mostly clean. These cabins are still cabins in a remote area and should be expected as such. All in all, a great stay.

Nice cabin. Futon was broken on left side and needs to be replaced. Fireplace is cool. Mattress needs to be replaced but is serviceable. Happy with the stay.
