The house had a wonderful view. The gated decks and yard was perfect for our dog. The outdoor fireplace is closely positioned to the house, making it accessible and giving a wonderful vibe. The road to get there is curvy, hilly and narrow, but quite doable.

This cabin is extremely clean, well-crafted, and appointed. A perfect 5-night getaway for my wife and me with our two dogs. Every floor, ceiling, and wall is wood-paneled, and though we didn't use it, the cabin has a nice, large, equally finished and furnished basement with a couch, fireplace, pool table, TV, wet bar, and other amenities. The fenced-in area is a must for dog owners, and there seem to be few cabins that have it. The view of distant mountains is very good, but everything beneath, including the valley is obstructed by overgrowth that could and should be cut down. Other than that, everything was absolutely great. Note that the roads and driveway right up to the cabin itself are all paved. Steep and very curvy, but all paved, and easily managed with our Subaru Forester. The cabin itself feels isolated though there are many high-quality canins on the road in the area. Bottom line, all good, no negative suprises, I definitely recommend.

The Black Dog House was just perfect, nicely decorated, quiet and uncluttered. The sunrise from the back porch every morning was nice to view. The fenced in yard was great for our dog and maintenance took care of some poison ivy immediately. It was good to have the sleeping areas separated in the three levels. I wish we have more time to use the pool table, hot tub and the outdoor fire place (burn ban in place). The drive to the cabin was all right once I got used to the drive. If I get the chance I would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our stay. The house was the right size for two couples and an almost walking baby. The view is spectacular. We tried our best to put everything in order before we left. Our only comment includes an accidental alarm going to the fire department while trying to disable the alarms. We apologize for that. The vent above the stove does not vent to the outside, instead, going back into the kitchen so we set off the alarms almost every time we cooked. Thanks for allowing us to have family time.

Fire place in the living room did not work.A new mattress is required for the upstairs bedroom.

We had a wonderful Mountain View with an outdoor fireplace that we really enjoyed.

For us, the drive in an out was a little challenging as it had some steep grades and the outdoor space was not as usable as we had hoped. On the upside, the home is very clean, spacious, and the beds are very comfortable. It's also very close to Mercier Orchards and the Fanin County recreation park which offers really nice sport courts.

Really enjoyed this cabin! Property was great. It seems the area might have had some weather impact recently as a road was out and we had to detour around to reach the cabin. There was also a bit of damage to a fence section due to a tree, but it didn't impact our stay.Would definitely rebook!

This home is just beautiful and the view is stunning. The pictures do not do it justice. It is pet friendly, but definitely not pet shabby. We stayed four nights and cooked in most of the time. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, etc. We enjoyed the grill. It rained during our stay, but the outdoor fireplace porch was perfect. We also enjoyed the pool table. Our Golden Retriever was able to access the fenced area from any door, which was nice. Our only issue was with the property mangagement company. A man showed up unexpectedly one morning and said he needed to change air filters. We had just gotten up and were not ready for visitors. We called the management complany to be sure this was OK, as the man parked so that we could not identifying his truck. He came into the house as I was on the phone. The person I spoke with, Lisa, seemed to think this was amusing.The man went into every room upstairs and downstairs. When he was leaving, he told us that he thought the house was empty. I called back after he left and asked to be notified if anyone else needed to access the house. Lisa said she was sorry if I misunderstood her laughter. Shortly after, we let our dog out and discovered that the maintenance man left the gate open. There was no one in the house on either side of us, and we were able to get our dog back in pretty quickly, but this was needlessly frustrating. The house is awesome, the management complany not so much.

Excellent property with great views! We enjoyed exploring downtown, golfing and hiking.

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend with our mini golden doodle. We had a great stay and would definitely rent this house again! The views were outstanding! The small outdoor fireplace/covered porch area is amazing with comfy furniture, and it came in handy when it rained. We loved the hot tub and the small fenced yard for our pup. We only used the upstairs bed and it was fine. Everything was labeled and spelled out well, and no problems entering or communicating with mgmt company. The road in is twisty but all paved, and manageable if you follow their directions. The last mile or so is on a very narrow road, but the one time we met anyone they backed up to a wider spot for us to pass. The towns of Blue Ridge and McCaysville are great fun for shopping and lunch. Loved the Mercier Orchards stop on the way into town! A lovely getaway.

Cabin has truly amazing views! Greatly enjoyed the outdoor fireplace every night, so relaxing! Loved having the fenced in area for my furbabies. Beautiful cabin, very well stocked. The owner has thought of everything! Only negative would be that main floor mattress definitely needs replaced, really sunken in on one side and uncomfortable. Overall, great cabin and I'd stay here again!

We stayed 5 nights in the spring. The house was exactly as described with the views being even more spectacular in person. We went with our two young children and our 80lb dog. We took advantage of hiking trails and horseback riding in the area.

Visited for a quick long weekend trip. Directions to the cabin were very accurate and the descriptions were great. The pictures of the views didn’t do it justice. We had some bad weather our last night, but we only lost power for a few hours. All in all amazing trip and can’t wait to book it again.

Cabin was beautiful, well stocked and organized! We enjoyed the many fireplaces, well maintained hot tub and gorgeous view. Some items within the home could have been cleaner, but overall we were very happy. One road into the cabin was nearly impassable, but second road (which gps has difficulty locating) was fine.

Everything was easy and beautiful

Pros: nice property w/great views! The master is huge w/a huge en suite & nice deck access. The wrap-around deck is very nice and the patio-type deck is really nice with a normal-sized outdoor fireplace (flue was cracked so couldn't use). We didn't use the pool table but nice to have - the downstairs area is good. Nice to have a separate half bath behind the kitchen. Considerations: the drive up is SUPER steep & the road is no bigger than a driveway in some places. Very glad that we drove up right before dark. Some of the drop offs were kind of scary (& we are not wussy folks). The living area is much smaller than it looks online as is the 2nd main level bedroom. Some of the frying pans needs to be replaced and I forgot to mention to property mgt but the icemaker is very odd: when it is on cube mode, it comes out half cubes and whole cubes and slivers. Perhaps should be serviced. The master br door wouldn't stay shut but I know they will fix that as I mentioned it to them. Overall I would definitely recommend. Just go up in the daylight for the first time to get a feel for the very narrow, steep, super windy roads to reach the house...maybe 1.5 miles up. I would like to go back in the spring/summer too.

I rented the cabin for my best friend and I to have a quiet weekend. The house was perfectly clean and more than enough space for the two of us. This would easily be a great rental for 2 couples with or without kids. I brought my dog and having the fenced in area was a huge plus for me. We did not utilize the outdoor grill or hot tub since the weather was bad. I was kind of disappointed that the outdoor fireplace was broken as we had been looking forward to using that. There was also plenty of parking on the driveway and checkout was super easy. I would definitely rent the cabin again.
