This property is considerably more dated than the pictures convey. It’s got so much potential, but needs some attention from the owner. The space was good for a family. The deck is large. Great for pets. The hot tub worked well, but has a mildew smell. The fire pit was nice with plenty of wood. The kitchen is well-stocked, but disorganized. Dishes are dated, mismatched and chipped. The oven works but seemed to have difficulty achieving the desired temperature. The refrigerator was dirty and we had to clean it ourselves upon arrival before putting our groceries away. The large dining room table would have been perfect but for the wobbly top. The laundry room door fell off when opened. The bathrooms are adequate, but again, lacked the expected cleanliness. There was a dirty film on the sinks and spiders in the shower. The living room rug smelled of animal urine. We may not have noticed this if not for our 6 month old granddaughter crawling around. The floors were clean enough in the walking spaces, but when we moved furniture to access outlets, we found dog hair, dust and cobwebs. The floor underneath the basement beds was filthy, to include an old Pepto-Bismol bottle. The house clearly hadn’t been dusted in many months. Renters with dust allergies would struggle in this space. Beds in the basement have no support and need new mattresses. Towels were new. Some sheets were thin and stained and in need of replacement. With some TLC, this space could be amazing.
The cabin was very nice and large. It could’ve used a good cleaning, master bedroom smelled of cigarette smoke. overall, it was roomy and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.
Overall, great spot to stay with a private setting. Only real issue was that thermostat was locked and we couldn’t adjust the temperature.
This house was perfect for our HS reunion trip for the seven of us. The house was immaculate, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The huge wrap around deck was used every day along with the great Jacuzzi. Very convenient to Asheville and Black Mountain, but tucked up into the woods with complete privacy. We did not take advantage of the nice fire pit - next time! It was great!
Stayed here with a group of 8. Property was perfect for us with plenty of space to hang out, relax, and cook. It is challenging to get Ubers or Lyfts at this location so we ended up driving to and from downtown Asheville which wasn’t an issue. Host was very responsive. Highly recommend as a cabin getaway!
Great location and so much provided. Easy to check-in and had no issues
My family had a great time. We love spending our Christmas vacation around the cozy wood fireplace and would definitely rent it again. It was so nice to also have the cabin decorated for the holiday season. Really convenient location close to Asheville and shopping.
Our first family Christmas trip was a huge success and this house was a big part of it! So comfortable. Nicely decorated for Christmas with adorable reindeer mugs as well! Very nice touch. The dining room table being circular allowed for many comfortable game nights. We all appreciated the cozy blankets and the fireplace. Comfortable bedding and wonderful deck. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bears Den. We were seven family members who spent a week there. The location is about 20 minutes to Asheville and is situated in a nice quiet area up a small mountain. The main living, dining, and kitchen area was inviting and large enough for all of us to be together comfortably. The outside deck had plenty of seating, the beds were fairly comfortable and it is very pet friendly.
This beautiful mountain home was perfect for out mini family reunion. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, and the hot tub a delightful treat after a full day of sightseeing. I recommend this home for anyone who wants to get away from the bustle of the city.
There were 5 all week, 6 for half the week. This home was more than large enough to accommodate us all. We cooked all week in a kitchen large enough for 1 cook! Loved the main area. We were always gathered here when in the home together. Very minimal splitting off from the group and spending time alone. This home allows for all of these. 10/10 would stay again
Very private, beautiful and serene property that lacks in cleanliness & order. too many chairs randomly placed, ripped front door screen & filthy porch. For these reasons, we give it 3 stars
Great place and time had by all! Very nice cabin and very quiet. Would rent again
Just some friends that gathered to spend a few days exploring Asheville and The Biltmore
I have a group of friends that get together twice a year to hang out in our PJs, eat, laugh, and enjoy local shops, activities, and restaurants. I was browsing VRBO for places to stay. Once I saw the Bears Den, I knew it was perfect. I threw in a couple of other possibilities and sent the links to my friends. It was unanimous choice! I honestly can’t think of anything negative to say. Rebecca was great with communication and information.
Nice place for a family gathering of 8 Good property for dogs who have the sense to be nice to bears? Within 20-30 min of asheville and hiking
We stationed part of our family at this cabin for my daughter's wedding (in Asheville tradition: involving a dog ring-bearer and the Wedding March played on a fiddle). It was just as advertised. Just about perfect.
