BEAR-A-BOUT

We purchased this home because of the location, minutes to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, and Dollywood. Since we are not spring chickens anymore we wanted a home that had level parking and both master suites are on the main floor with no steps to climb. The downstairs is the game room with pool table . There is also a full bath downstairs. It's so comfy and cozy we fell in love at first sight. I hope you will enjoy our home as much as we do. The Smoky Mountains are breathtaking and there is just so much to do, whether it be hiking, skiing, bear watching, shopping, restaurants, the list is endless. The kitchen is well equipped with dishes, silverware, pots and pans, a mixer, a blender, a Magic Bullet, a toaster, a sandwich maker, roasting pan, a steamer and more. Both master suites have queen size beds with TV in the living room and all bedrooms. All rooms have plenty of lighting, got a great hot tub, enjoy checkers in the living room and sunbathe on the large 12x16 deck. Smoking is permitted on the outside decks only please and ash trays are provided.

Update February 2018 - New showers, new carpet, new door, new pool table, new roof, we're always updating!

2025 - All Flooring replaced, new stove too

IMPORTANT - Please email me with any inquiries as i have a very busy day everyday and i will get a text message and get back to you ASAP !

Very nice and clean cabin. Everything that we would need was provided. Decor was lovely keeping with the bear theme. Hot tub was relaxing after a long day.Going up the mountain was a little scary the first time, I'm glad we arrived before dark. After the first few times we were pretty comfortable driving up there. My daughter had the Waze app on her phone and put in the address provided and it took us turn for turn exactly to the cabin.I would recommend staying in this cabin.

Bear about cabin was perfect for our party of four. The cabin was beautiful. We were very close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg but far enough away to be in the quiet. The hot tub was a big hit for my daughter and her friend. There was a issue with the well pump, but was quickly resolved in a few steps as instructed by the host. She answered in a timely manner and had the plumber at the cabin within hours to check the equipment. Would definitely stay again!!

The Bear-a-Bout was a great property with good location between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Lived up to its name because we saw a mama bear and 3 cubs on our initial drive to the cabin, and saw them again the next morning. Two of the three bedrooms were very nice, and the third was okay but was in “basement” and my 6’2” height was very close to be a challenge. Otherwise, we had a great stay!

3 bedrooms with out baths is a big plus. We absolutely loved this location and cabin. Host was amazing. We looked for a mountain spot, small as we are there to sleep and eat and relax don’t need nothing massive. Great pricing we even check once there on the websites for the properties that at signup and this cabin was cheaper than the others and had more space beds and other stuff. Well worth it. Host was amazing. We definitely be back to stay here if available when we’re planning. Thanks again Host Karen!!

I spent spring break with my four kids—two boys (11 and 8) and two girls (13 and 6)—and it was an amazing trip. The cabin was in a perfect location, just minutes from Pigeon Forge, where we enjoyed rides, mini golf, great food, and plenty of fun activities and shopping. Dollywood was only about 20 minutes away and ended up being a great experience for the kids. There were also plenty of opportunities to get outdoors. We took a trip up to an observation deck with several beautiful overlook spots along the way—definitely a highlight. After that, we extended our drive to Cherokee, NC, which turned out to be a really nice town to explore. We browsed local shops and picked up some beautiful locally made art. While we were there, we ate at Pop’s Smokehouse—great food and very affordable. On the drive back to the cabin, we saw about a dozen elk, which was a first for us and really exciting.Back near the cabin, we even had daily sightings of bears—a mom and her cubs—which was incredible to see (from a safe distance). Definitely remember to lock your car, though—a bear actually opened our van door trying to get inside!Overall, it was the perfect location for the cabin and a really well-balanced trip with something for everyone.

It was super spacious and in a great location. Perfect for 4 of us and we could easily had more fit in the space. We loved spending the evenings on the porch in the hot tub and playing pool (we did have to put one of our brushes under a leg of the pool table because it wasn’t level, but that’s no biggie). The host pictures do not do it justice it is spacious and adorable. I’ll be sure to look at it again for my next trip up here.

We stayed a wkd in Feb ‘26 & overall was decent. It was a cute little cabin with plenty of room for us 5. Parking was very tight for 3 cars. Cabin is pet friendly but there’s no grass for them to go potty. So be aware if you bring dogs you may have to walk down the street to find some grass. Had a nice back deck w/ hot tub. The cabin sleeps 6 but the hot tub was for 4 ppl. Would be nice if it were bigger to accommodate all. The bedrooms were spacious although the showers were tiny! Also the kitchen was very small & does not have a dishwasher! It was pretty well stocked for cooking though. Stairs going down to the 3rd bedroom & game room are very steep & the ceilings are very low down there even in the bathroom. If you are tall you might have to duck to shower.

Cabin was cozy and clean, loved the location it was between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and not too far up the mountain. Kids enjoyed the hot tub and pool table. The showers are really small but had good pressure and hot water. My only complaint is no smart tv in the living room and a table or vanity should be in the bathroom for storage instead of pedestal sink. I’m glad we didn’t bring our dogs because you’re on a mountain not much of a yard to walk them. It would be ok for a tiny dog. Stairs are very steep going down but we didn’t have any issues with it.

The host was great, the house was everything we needed. Excellent location. Very charming home. However, im unsure the host knows the cleaning lady isnt very clean. We had to wear shoes inside the home (dirty floors) and the couch was unbearable with dog smell. Towels were left in the washer too long and there were no dish towels. Not one. Leaves consumed all decks, except the front door. So we couldnt enjoy the balcony off the bedroom or hot tub without first removing leaves. My complaints are entirely with whoever is hired to clean and not at all the home

The house was clean and well taken care of. The owner was awesome and responded quickly. The room in the basement is a little short so beware if you plan on having a taller person stay in the basement. I could stand and I am 5ft 10 in but if I was any taller I would not be able to. The cabin is up a mountain and if you are not familiar with that beware. Also make sure to look for Boogie Bear and turn there so you don't have to turn around. This place was great especially for the price. I recommend. Close to Pigeon Forge and Gatliburg. In the middle of both one of my favorite parts.

I was honestly surprised to see this place has 4.7 stars. The beds were super uncomfortable; 1 had wheels, another had a squeaky bed frame that amplified all movement noise, and the other was covered in dog hair. I have dogs, I get having hair on sheets, but this made me question if the bed got cleaned. I also doubt those beds were queen sized. The house is not up to code with a light socket next to a shower. The kitchen can only comfortably fit 1 person at a time. The floors felt sticky. If you want hot water though this is your place. In 2 seconds the faucet gets hot enough to steam and the showers have the potential to remove all the layers of your skin. Also don’t try to park more than 2 cars here. In fact 2 cars might be too many. It fits 1 1/2. To be fair, the place did have a great catalogue of 90s and early 2000s DVDs, and the hot tub which was nice. However we were a tad scared to use it. About 15 minutes after we arrived we got to see 7 bears both underneath the deck balcony and in the front yard. They stayed for like 30-45 minutes and didn’t seem scared of us at all. Apparently this place is known for bears (perhaps related to all the peanut shells and food scraps we later found). Over the next 2 days we saw bears on the property 4 more times. They’d just be sashaying down the middle of the road in groups of 3 or 4. If you don’t plan on sleeping (too uncomfortable and noisy) or going outside (the bears are not scared of you) then this is the place for you.

Everything you needed was in the cabin, which we happened to be in more the planned as the weather did not want to cooperate. We found the beds were comfy, showers had great pressure, kitchen was well equipped. We had one little hiccup that we had to contact Karen about and she responded almost immediately and handled the situation. She was so nice and happy to help.I would definitely recommend it to anyone want a reasonably priced place to stay for vacation. Karen, Thank you, Dave & Family

Beware! The bedding is not washed between stays!! On my first walk through the place, we fell in love. The pictures really need to be updated because it is a really cute cabin. However, after we settled in, we found disgusting white crusty stains on the pillowcases as well as dripping down the bed frame. I immediately reached out to Karen, and her only reply was, I will talk to my cleaners, thank you. That's it. No apology, no explanation, nothing. Thankfully, there was a washing machine; although I didn't expect to be doing laundry on vacation, we washed all the bedding. The rest of the place seemed clean. The hot tub was clean, and it looked as though the water had just been changed. However, once we began to cook dinner, we discovered that all the dishes in the cabinets were dirty. They had dried, crusted food on them. Needless to say, we won't be back, and I am super unimpressed with Karen and her hospitality.

We enjoyed our stay at Bear-A-About. The room in the lower level was perfect for our girls (11 and 13). They loved having their own space. The cabin was clean and had enough toilet paper and bath towels (we brought our own hot tub towels). The cabin had 3 showers, but no bathtubs. Which was fine for us, as we only take showers. The description says it has a small staircase but the staircase is VERY narrow and Very steep. Very nice and peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist industry. Would recommend to anyone wanting to get away after your busy day.

Not as clean as I expected, but comfortable. Easy to get to but no view of much but the neighbors. No way to clean up leaves and dirt carried in on feet. All in all we still enjoyed ourselvesI did speak with the host and she had bought a new broom but it had been inadver removed from the cabin. It really is not somewhere I would rent again, but it served the purpose.

First I must say the pictures do not do justice for this property. The home is beautiful, comfortable, cozy, well located, great hostess to deal with We can not say enought great things. Mama bear and two babys visited in the bottom every night and it was cool to watch mama bear watch her babys climb and have fun. We enjoyed the outside grill with a good suggestion to provide A light to shine over the grill area but we made do with a flashlight. OUR grandaughter loved her 11th birthday weekend gateway with our fur babys. And that is the greatest stay.

The property is just outside of Pigeon Forge, closer to Gatlinburg. The place was well decorated & clean. We enjoyed our stay.

It was a good stay. There were some cleanliness issues but the owner was responsive and easy to work with.

All 4 of us, ages above 60 enjoyed the coziness of this cabin. It had everything you needed. Beds were comfy, it was very clean, it had all the amenities listed except shampoo but no biggie on that. I think that was just an oversight by the cleaners. overall though, can't complain! Anyone that stays there will love it!

It was a perfect little 3 bedroom cabin and did not break the bank. Had all the amenities you could need. Not far from Gatlinburg, pigeon fordge, or the national park. And after a long day exploring, the hot tub was the perfect place to relax. We had a great time.

I would encourage the owners to stay a few nights in their rental. 1. The stairs to the lower level bedroom. Steep, small and unsafe. 2. If you’re taller than 5’4, you’re not able to stand up straight. This is in the lower level. 3.Place needs new pillows, soft blankets, towels, towels towel's. Maybe even hot tub towels. 4. Lower level bedroom does not have a door, tv, or fan. 5. Lower level gets damp. 6. Some windows need new screens due to holes. 7. Deep spider cleaning needed, spider webs everywhere. 8. Misleading- one tub- and not a jacuzzi tub, 9. Internet access bare to non in lower level even with WiFi. 10. Tree nuts continuously fell from the tree, hit two people in the head.

Quiet and clean. Bit of a drive to reach the rental. Bear sighting near the rental is a plus.
