Harpswell, Maine
"BAY VIEW" is a beautiful waterfront cabin just feet from the shore of Casco Bay's Merriconeag Sound, which separates the two sides of Harpswell. Smell the salt air, listen to the sounds of waves lap the shoreline and watch the eagles, sea gulls and local Lobstermen haul their traps. You may even see seals at play in the waters. Whether at sunrise or the end of the day, there is something for your senses to take in as you relax by the shoreline or on the deck enjoying the coast of Maine.
"Bay-View" accommodates six guests with a bedroom downstairs (queen size bed) and an upstairs open loft with two beds, both queen size. The beds, bed linens, towels, all kitchen utensils and Appliances (minus refrigerator), were brand new in 2022. Bed linens and towels are provided.
Prepare your own meal in the kitchen, on the outdoor grill or get an evening take-out meal at many of Harpswell's wonderful restaurants. Afterwards, make sure you stop into one of Harpswell's two ice cream shops to finish off your dining experience.
A few of the local Harpswell restaurants we recommend within a 20-minute drive: Erica's Seafood, Dolphin Restaurant and Marina, Pammy's Ice Cream, Uncle Pete's Community Market, Island Candy Company, Salt Cod Cafe, Cook's Lobster & Ale House, Sundrenched and Bailey Island General Store (BIGS). The cottage had everything we needed for the perfect week the weather was perfect
We had a bad experience with the foul smelling water so we chose to leave. Property manager graciously refunded 2 nights stay. Location is remote and no groceries nor dining close by. The cabin decor is old; dim lamps for lighting. Mattress is old and sheets are scratchy. Just wasn’t what we saw on the VRBO site so we were surprised at what we walked into. The house sits under trees so there is no natural sunlight coming in. We wouldn’t recommend the house.
This was a honeymoon/10 yr anniversary/bucket list trip for my husband and I. It was an amazing trip. This place is private and very well kept. The view was spectacular. We would defiantly stay there again.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The deck overlooking the water was beautiful and the perfect place for reading and watching wildlife, boats, and the sea.
Great
My husband and I enjoyed a quiet getaway in Harpswell. Area was beautiful and the island feel was perfect and exactly as we wanted.
Relaxing
My husband and I (and our pup!) really enjoyed our stay here. The views are stunning, and the location is perfect. We enjoyed a week of hiking in the area, and had a lot of fun relaxing at the cabin in the evenings. It was stocked with everything we needed- especially the kitchen!
We chose this property because we were looking for a quiet location on the water. It was everything we hoped it would be. We didn't need an active nightlife or restaurants within walking distance. What we found was an oasis of quiet with a close enough drive to Portland and Acadia. The place was very clean and had all the necessary amenities to spend a comfortable week. There was a minor issue with the cable TV not working, but David was there quickly to correct the problem. My only quibble, and it's a small one, is that the listing indicated that there was a dishwasher. We didn't find one. Would definitely choose to stay here again if we travel to Maine another time.
We could not be happier. Location was great. Communication with owner was great. Would definitely stay again and would highly recomend.
Property was exactly as described in listing. Contactless check-in was easy. House was very clean and all needed amenities were provided. The view was amazing. On the ocean but almost felt like a lake property in its peacefulness. Plenty of options for seating on the expansive deck. Made use of the gas grill, which was also very clean and worked perfectly. Only made use of first floor bedroom, but bed was very comfortable and black out blinds worked well. Looking forward to booking again and further exploring the surrounding area.
It was absolutely perfect. We hope to book again in the future. Lovely log cabin with a spectacular view. For people booking this I would recommend getting groceries at a larger town before you arrive, as the local small stores close early. They do not have toilet paper, paper towels or typical grocery items. The cabin is not stocked with the paper products.
The views were gorgeous as the cabin is right on the water. The neighborhood was quiet. Although an older cabin, it was clean and well maintained. Very noteworthy -- the kitchen was nicely equipped including very nice pots and pans. Most important our somewhat shy dog was very comfortable within minutes of our arrival.
My wife, adult daughter, and I stayed at Bay View for Indigenous People’s Day weekend and found it perfect for our needs. The house is well-equipped, comfortable, and easy to enjoy. It affords a superb view of Clark Cove at any time of day, but especially at sunrise and, for us, during the full moonrise. Harpswell has much more to offer than we had time to explore, but we took advantage of hikes, crafts fairs, seafood (Dolphin Marina on its last night of the season), and just hanging out with a book. We would definitely like to return.
Beautiful sunrises! The deck was the best!
My family and I truly enjoyed our stay at this charming cabin with a view to savour, especially at sunrise. We are certain to visit again.
We enjoyed a few relaxing days and nights at Bayside, spending as much time as possible out on the deck watching the tide and marine traffic, grilling and sipping wine, and letting the peace of the Maine coastline work its magic. Make sure to hike the cliff trail, and hit Pammy's for some ice cream and the Black Sheep for wine, but the rest of your time you'll enjoy this quiet, clean waterfront cabin!
beautiful cottage with lovely views
Overall great experience, quiet, great location.
The cabin was everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. Just the right size for a family of 5 adults, it was off the beaten path, yet close enough to Boothbay Harbor, Freeport, or exploring the local Harpswell community. Sunrise from the deck, bald eagle sightings, and watching the boats come in and out of the bay made this a peaceful stay.
