Standing Stone Cabin is so Beautiful and located very close to the top of a mountain. The view was absolutely gorgeous!! The expedition to get there was a bit nerve racking, but after the 3rd or 4th time traveling up & down all I could do is laugh & pray! Then again, I am from the coast and not what I am used too. Would highly recommend this cabin we really enjoyed our stay, and the nature was great also!
The road up is fun, we used Waze and had no problems. The cabin is large and roomy. The host is friendly and responsive. Each morning and evening we were treated with deer, fawns, does, and two separate bucks, one spike and one four point. We also got watch a groundhog meandering through the back yard. The cabin is well stocked and we had zero problems with any of the appliances. Very quiet and very nice, we enjoyed the cabin and will return the next time we are in the area.
This is an actual older cabin, up on a mountainside, very private. It simple and rustic, nothing fancy. It has a beautiful little back deck that serves as the perfect spot to have your coffee and look at the wonderful mountain view. It is right near a little mountain town mountain town, that has two or three good places to eat, and a few neat shops. We used it primarily as our base camp to go see surrounding sights and mountains.
Absolutely stunning views in this amazing log cabin. Sue has thought of everything. Our beds were ultra comfortable, house was beautiful with a large L-shaped couch where we could watch movies at night. Anything you need to cook in the kitchen plus so many other extras. it was a wonderful visit with our extended family!
Property was as expected. The view from the porch is anazing. Loved the little town. Lots of nice places to eat. Would stay there again.
Just to warn anyone who stays here, especially if you have allergies towards mold, don’t stay at this home. When we opened the door to the home we smelled a strong musky/stale smell in this house. After walking around we found (2) dehumidifiers running down stairs. We imdieatly contacted the homeowner and let her know we could not stay at the home. I got a few snarky responses from her which I didnt appreciate. She had stated that the house was walked through on Friday, 4 days before we arrived because she thought we arrived on Saturday. My guess was they aired out the home on Friday….. Since it sat closed up for 4 days the air got stale quick in the home. I did not argue, but I expected some kind of refund. It seems like no refund is coming so I unfortunately had to right this review. PS: The home is much older in person them it pictures on the site.
Beautiful home! My 3 grandchildren really enjoyed the deer and the bird feeder. We ate meals in the gazebo and had a great view.
We chose this location because it looked like a place you could really relax and get back to nature and it didn’t disappoint. We were greeted in the morning with a beautiful variety of birds (thanks to Sue’s bird feeder), chipmunks, deer and a turkey. The view was spectacular and I have to admit hard to leave for our excursions but was wonderful to return in the evening.
Sue is an amazing communicator and readily available. She made sure we had all we needed and that we arrived safely; so kind! The property is well kept and gorgeous with stunning mountain views. The cabin was immaculate and provided more than we needed- plenty of towels, linens, blankets! The fire pit outside added to the perfect holiday getaway with great ambiance and family fun! Highly recommend Standing Stone Cabin for families and it’s close to so many attractions!
We loved our stay at the Standing Stone log cabin! Plenty of room, very private, and the pool table was a bonus. Spent many hours on the deck which has an incredible view of the mountains and where we would watch the deer and turkeys that came onto the property. Downtown Burnsville was nice to visit with its quaint shops and eateries. We went a few times to Pig & Grits restaurant and Homeplace Beer Company which we liked. Drove to Ashville for dinner one night and visited four nice breweries within walking distance. A drive up to the top of Mt. Mitchell (highest peak east of the Mississippi) was well worth it. The views are amazing! Our vacation here was perfect. We would definitely stay at the cabin again! Our host, Sue, was always available if we needed anything. Next time we plan to visit the numerous waterfalls in the area…
