Our hostess went out of her way on several occasions to make our stay comfortable and to respond to needs that arose. We really appreciate her!
We loved our stay, Karen was great and so was the cherry pie. We rented the main house and artist’s cabin. Both were uniquely beautiful. Lots of thoughtful, personal touches. The setting is remote and peaceful but easy enough to get into Saugatuck, Douglas, Fennville, or South Haven destinations.
My wife was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis eleven (11) years ago. An individual meets the American Disabilities Act definition of “disability” that would qualify he / she for reasonable accommodations if they have a physical / mental impairment that substantially limits major life activities. Federal and state laws forbid discrimination by property managers / owners for disabilities. • PF (Pulmonary Fibrosis) is considered a disability under the ADA. • Since PF substantially limits life activities, individuals suffering from PF qualifies for protection. • PF) Pulmonary fibrosis is a progressive, auto immune, interstitial lung disease that occurs when lung tissue becomes scarred. This thickened, stiff tissue makes it difficult for lungs to work properly. As pulmonary fibrosis worsens, the patient become progressively more and more short of breath. A reasonable accommodation is a change, exception, or adjustment to a rule, policy, practice, or service that may be necessary for a person with disabilities to have an equal opportunity to use and enjoy a dwelling, as wells as equal access, or to fulfill obligations. Property managers / owners may not require persons with disabilities to pay extra fees or deposits or place any other special conditions or requirements as a condition of receiving a reasonable accommodation, directly or indirectly. Included are the following: property owners, property managers, homeowners and condominium associations, lenders, real estate businesses, and brokerage services Not all persons with disabilities will have a need for reasonable accommodations. However, all persons with disabilities have the right to request or be provided reasonable accommodations at any time. 1) Oxygen Concentrator – Electricity (must provide) 2) Heat – Outside Temp 40-42 degrees (cannot charge for wood) 3) Window open – Fresh air for breathing 4) Ability to charge scooter 5) Light – leave a light on at night to prevent falls All considered reasonable accommodations by council involved on ADA cases. I never agreed to any of the terms, conditions, rules, and regulations of the main cabin because we were not staying at the main cabin. We only knew when we arrived. Rules were made known to me by note after we were not abiding. I was not even aware. On arrival, she stated that she could work something out for Thurs night. She waited until check-out time Thurs to let us know, we had to go, instead of advising us Wed.
was great to get away from all electronic screens and spend my days playing classical music on guitar , reading dostoyevsky, and enjoying the woods...the nights were peaceful with no sounds of motors or anything human ...thank you lord
Very rustic and in nature, but not far away from 'civilization'. Great get away!
This was the third time visiting The Red Spirit retreat and my first in the artist cabin. Karen is the best host! We loved chatting with her over coffee and incredibly delicious pie. The cabin is tucked away in the woods so you really feel at one with nature. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Karen made us a fabulous blueberry pie for our visit. The cabin was spartan but clean and comfortable. There may have been a bit of confusion about the description - but it was fine, just very rustic. Close to good restaurants, beaches and art galleries.
but we had a great time anyway. It was good to unplug and relax. Lightning took out the town's electricity most of the weekend, no fault of the owners. We had a great time roughing it. Excellent location. Perfect girls weekend. Thanks!
