This single-bedroom cottage is named for the Barrel Cooperage "Cadus" (kuhdoohs). Another barrel often used for Chardonnay, this one has a little heavier oak touch, giving the wine the perfect weight and texture. You'll take off the weight of the world as you snuggle into this cottage that has the best light and park-like views of all the vineyards, meadows, and mountains.
Featuring a king-size bed, full bath, open plan living room, and a fully equipped kitchen. Freshly decorated with local art and contemporary furnishings, and all countertops of locally quarried soapstone. Solar shades in the rooms with views and room-darkening shades in bedroom and bath. Electric fireplace in the corner can warm you on a chilly night, or create that intimate ambiance when you're ready to snuggle in for the evening. 650 private square feet with a deck overlooking the wildflower meadow.

Been here many times and it never ceases to impress. Beautiful views, nice people, and quiet!
The location is stunning, 360 mountain views in the blue ridge! The cottages are cute and cozy - not the most comfortable for relaxing or sleeping. Very spacious for a 600ish square foot space, the outdoor space made it feel larger and was perfect to sit outside and view the full moon over the mountains. The mattress was uncomfortable so be prepared if you have any issues with very soft and lumpy beds. It was difficult to get comfortable in the seating area as well, the chairs weren't stead and the love seat was the best option but for one person. Kitchen was fully stocked with cookware. The cottage is in need of a good cleaning. Lots of short black hair, we assumed was from a pet, urine stains on the walls we also assumed from pets! And the kitchen had multiple spaces where food was leftover and never cleaned up, more attention to those details would have been helpful!
The scenery was phenomenal and peaceful. The property itself was secluded enough to feel that you were away, but accessible to the nearest cities. Speaking with a representative was a pleasant experience.
The property was stunning - we couldn't have asked for a nicer space and view. Everything about our trip was beautiful and clean. We would definitely go back!
Really nice property, pretty views, quite great team-easy to work with and committed to a wonderful customer experience!
Quiet, peaceful setting, nice views of mountains and vineyard. Very good responses from the group. Always enjoy working through this management group.
The Cadus Cottage location was excellent and affords the feeling of being away from it all but yet is in close proximity to multiple vineyards, breweries, fruit/vegetable stands. Having access to the patio at The Afton Vineyards after hours was super sweet for watching the sunset and early morning walks with the dog, Wilma. Cadus is situated so perfectly for taking advantage of the breathtaking mountain views with lots of windows and high ceilings which make it feel much larger than it is. The back porch is awesome; outfitted with the bistro table/chairs and rockers, where we spent the majority of our time. The property and cottage overall more than met our expectations, a beautiful escape!! very easy to work with, very responsive!
It was beautiful. It was even nicer than I expected. They were great. Very easy to work with and very accommodating.
We love the cottages, and the ability to bring our dog with us (he loves it up there, plus it's cheaper than boarding him). The views are amazing, the back porch is huge and comfortable, and the bed is huge! We will keep coming back! Kate is always splendid to work with. We have been very happy with Stay Charlottesville - this must be our 4th or 5th time booking through this service. We have referred many friends and family members to this property. Always enjoyable to work with.
A wonderful, peaceful place to stay. We enjoyed the beautiful views while drinking coffee from the back porch in the morning and sipping wine in the evening. Everything was done online and worked very well. No surprises.
Just delightful. Well-appointed and a beautiful facility. Very nice
Gorgeous cottage and spectacular views. It is so helpful that you answer evening calls!
Beautiful little cabin in a gorgeous setting. Decor is very well done. Would definitely come back.
It is beautiful! So peaceful and quiet. The view is unbelievable!! Fabulous!
It was amazing! The views are great and the house is great!
excellent views, very clean, new, comfortable
As an experienced rental property owner I feel there is room for improvement given the price per night was hovering around $400/night. I would recommend and extra set of pillows(stored in the bathroom closet), 4 extra bath towels, higher thread count sheets and perhaps a down alternative comforter. As far as the kitchen, I would recommend coffee pods equal to the number of nights stayed and coffee creamer (not powdered) which does not need refrigeration. In addition, bottled water, again equal to the number of nights stayer would be appreciated by guests.
This is a beautiful, peaceful place to stay! Only comment I would have is that the kitchen needed a few things such as salad tongs & pasta strainer. Very friendly and efficient staff.
We loved the expansive views that the cabin offered, and the ability to bring our dog! Kate was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in planning our stay. She was very quick in responding to all of our questions and had a lot of great ideas in terms of things to do and places and go. We simply cannot say enough good things about Kate and our experience with the entire team at Stay Charlottesville. We will definitely be using them again in the future.
The stay and cottage at Afton Mountain was great (and I will return) but have several suggestions for you: 1. Please consider providing more than two bath towels, especially in the absence of a washer/dryer. I understand that the max capacity of the cottage is 2 people (hence 2 towels), but i) women often use more than 1 towel to dry (hair) as my wife did, ii) guests may do activities that may require more showering and using of the bath towels (hiking, horseback riding, etc.), and iii) absent a washer/dryer towels get dirty after a few days and people may not wish to stay more than 2-3 nights. Not sure if this is intended to be a weekend place or long term? If long-term.. 2. Consider adding a small stackable washer/dryer in the bathroom. There is definitely space in the closet. 3. If no washer/dryer and if only providing two towels, consider providing towels that are not white. Instead use an earth tone or black. See point 1. ii. above for rationale about white towels. They show dirt easily especially after a few days. 4. I appreciate that the cottage is self-catered but some basics like coffee filters would be useful. Otherwise the kitchen is very well stocked with pots, pans, plates, etc. 5. Consider some form of glazing on the shower window. When showering in Cadus I could see right onto the deck and kitchen of the cottage one over (and vice versa, at least my head (I'm 6'3). 6. Minor: the complimentary wine tasting is a nice gesture, but have Afton Mountain Vineyards consider a free wine tasting for two or a bottle of one of their cheaper/comparably priced wines. We were there over Easter weekend (three nights). They were closed Easter Sunday and we checked-in at 5pm on Friday so the only day we could really utilize the tasting was on Saturday which we were unable to do because of other activities. I was able to get down to the tasting room at one point to buy some wine and it would have been nice to exchange the tasting card for a bottle of wine instead as well. Overall it is a great place and will try to return. Very good. Liked the follow-up call on day of check-in.
We loved the decor and layout/design of the cottage. The windows and views were awesome; balcony was a nice feature. Kate was very helpful!
