Acorn Cottage - Powder Horn Mountain

The cooking spices and supplies were great to have. The view is amazing. The cottage is very comfortable and I slept better there than my own bed! It was dark and quiet at night. The noise in the house does not carry from upstairs to downstairs so if there are nightowls you will not be disturbed.

Great layout for large gatherings. Lots of sleeping space, good layout of bathrooms, nice that the kids have their own living space downstairs. Spacious wrap around outside deck space. String lights for the back deck don't work. Kitchen could use freshening; while the cabinets and drawers are full, some things are pretty worn, if there's kitchen ware you really need to feed a crowd, recommend bringing with you.

Enjoyed our stay.

This property was clean, comfortable and really lovely. Plenty of space for a crowd, with several bedrooms on the main level, which matters for us because we travel with an 87 year old family member who struggles with stairs. The kitchen was very well equipped and labeled. Powder Horn Mountain, although a little remote, had a really beautiful pool area and a fantastic stream area near the campground for creek stomping. All in all, this was a really delightful place for a low-key family get together.

My brother and his family used the other two rooms on the main floor, and my family of five used the three bedrooms in the basement. Having two living areas in the house was SO nice! We also truly appreciated being able to bring our two dogs with us. The property description and pictures allowed us to plan in advance, and everything was clean and well-maintained. Communication with the property manager was easy and we appreciated the quick response time. We'd highly recommend this property to others, and I'm sure we'll stay here again when we visit Boone--it was just right for what we needed! For anyone looking for activities in the area, we would definitely suggest checking out Appalachian Tubing Company--closest tubing company to the cottage, easy online reservations, and the friendliest guys who run it!

The mountain house was just what we were looking for! Lots of space to spread out in the house and on the expansive deck!The sunsets were beautiful!Lots of amazing hiking trails!We hope to make this a yearly trip!
