The Maine Retreat is a quiet oasis close to the action of Deep Creek Lake but far from everyday. Vacationers familiar with Maine getaways will absolutely love this setting-- A short trail walk through privately owned woods takes you from cozy, quiet seclusion to the beauty of Deep Creek Lake's shores.

Take a seat on the Covered Porch or take a stroll around the property-- 3 Acres of Private Woods, with a Trail to the Lake, are yours for savoring. Take the Canoe out and see if you can catch local bass, bluegill, perch, or walleye with the Fishing Rods, Tackle, Paddles and Lifevests we provide.

Within 10-15 min., you'll reach Deep Creek Lake activities, and when you return home, partying neighbors and bright street lights won't interrupt your view of the clear night sky, beautiful sounds of nature, or peaceful time alone with your loved ones.

The backyard firepit is sure to be a place where memories are made roasting hotdogs, making smores, and catching up with those who mean the most.

The cabin was very cute and well stocked. Great location close to Wisp. We overall really enjoyed the stay. Communication was poor, no response to question day before arrival regarding coffee appliance. I packed my own coffee maker just in case since I didn’t hear back. Could not check listing for details, it was taken down from vrbo site (not sure if this was intentional or a glitch with website). The combination of not seeing the listing to review and not hearing back from owner caused concern about the validity of our reservation as we drove from our home 3 hrs away. The communication issues continued- delayed response to inquiry made during stay. Received response the evening before we were checking out. Several lights bulbs were out making it very dark. One of the heating units didn’t work. I eventually fixed the heat on my own, discovered a tripped fuse for this unit in breaker box. Master bedroom bed was so uncomfortable- had to move to fold out couch on 2nd night. Could not find sheets for this, so we took sheets off of the queen. There were extra pillows in closets, no pillowcases. Overall it was a fun getaway, but not without a few bumps along the way in the cabin/vrbo experience.

The stay was great! Although, the trail to the lake was about 1 mile through the woods. The ad says sleeps 10. We had 8 and found it a little tight. There are 3 bedrooms with 1 queen bed each, and a pull out couch. In the end, we enjoyed time with family.

The cabin was very nice. The add needs to be updated though. Add states there is shampoo and soap. There was no shampoo. Wifi password was not under the modem but in the book. And the dish washer was full of dishes did not know if they were clean or dirty. Was on a weekend get away and was not about to put dishes away.

I would have likely rated 6 stars if the weather had been nicer! ( I do know there are only 5 stars). It rained most of the week, but honestly we didn't care as its been so hot and dry here in Florida, it was kind of nice to have several rainy days. The front porch can't be beat. I imagine that the Summer and Fall are awesome as far as the lake is concerned. We didn't get to canoe or fish as it was too cold but the access to both, right through the woods and down the path, is excellent. Saw lots of nature ( 25+ deer the day we were leaving), many different birds, an otter, and heard the peeping frogs as well...something we miss in Florida. We hiked in the rain most days, and watched lots of movies most nights. Built a fire in the fireplace 3 nights but never did build one in the firepit due to the rain. Looked like a great spot for s'mores. Cottage is well equipped, cozy, just really perfect. We had everything we needed to cook a big Easter dinner. Another day we purchased fresh oysters in Oakland and feasted on those as well as great shrimp from the Arrow market in Deep Creek right down the road on Rte 219. Everything was very convenient. My husband and his brother golfed at Thousand Acres and Alpine Lake and mostly had the courses to themselves. All in all.........very, very nice.

This cabin was everything we needed it to be. It was far from the city (DC for us), and yet it wasn't old and musty like one's worst nightmares (and perhaps some experiences) might make us fear. For just my wife and I, we found this place to be very well cleaned, simple, but with everything we needed. This included cooking supplies, extra blankets, wood (though uncovered and outside which needed some drying-out), and windows enough in the large room that it felt spacious. We had a couple of things we needed to ask the owner about, and she was imminently reachable. The walk down to the lake (frozen while we were there) is a beautiful short walk to a beautiful location. It's about 15 minutes to the nearest town and grocery store, which had everything we needed (and even some extra things we wanted!). We are hoping ot go back, perhaps with another couple of friends this time.

Our pack is two adults, an 8 year old, and two dogs. We went to Maine Retreat for a getaway and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Very nice trail through the woods to an opening by the water, great cookout locale just behind the house, and a very cozy, attractive lay out inside. The house was stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed communing with nature and drives in and around Deep Creek. Hosts could not have been more helpful. Thank you, hope to be back soon!

My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Maine Retreat! The house was so clean and cozy and foliage was spectacular! This was our first experience renting a home from VRBO. Pia thank you for the wonderful experience and answering all of my many questions. We are truly interested in coming back and will recommend to our friends and family!

We had a great time at the cabin. Our toddler loved playing with all the yard games (cornhole, cricket, badminton, and more!) and our dog enjoyed exploring in the woods and lounging in the shady yard. It was short walk to down to the cove where we could fish and the dog could swim. We also enjoyed taking the canoe out. The cabin provided a perfect amount of quiet and solitude while still being close to all the activity of Deep Creek Lake. Great dining options are just a few minutes away. We rented a boat for the day from Bill's Marine and that was just about a 15 minute drive. The house itself was very clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable. The fire pit and firewood were a nice touch. Our only complaint was that toilet paper and paper towels were not provided so we had to make a trip to the store for those. We had a small problem when we were not able to find the canoe at the location described to us in the manual from the owners. We called the owners and they were very responsive (on a Saturday) and got the property management company to handle the issue right away. (It turns out the property management company had put the canoe in a different location without the owners' knowledge.) We were very impressed with how quickly the owners resolved the problem. We had a great experience and would return!

We spent a relaxing week at the Maine Retreat with our 2 kids and big dog. We loved having the yard and the woods to walk through. Walking down to the lake was a daily tradition, and we saw a beaver a couple of times. We also enjoyed the canoe - very peaceful. We really enjoyed the recommendations listed in the binder in the house, especially the Fireside Deli. I unfortunately had to work one day, and the internet access was great. So, all in all, if you need some time away (but might not get it), the Maine Retreat is a great place to go!
