Benezette, Pennsylvania
Located only one mile from the town of Benezette, Buck Haven Lodge is a cabin that offers close proximity to Elk Country’s best attractions, but also boasts 6 private acres of wooded land for tenants to enjoy. Elk routinely move through the old-growth hemlock and pine, with masses of native ferns coloring the forest floor.
The newly renovated Buck Haven Lodge has two bedrooms, a full bath, a fully-stocked kitchen, and a cozy living room complete with a propane fire place. Whether you are interested in elk viewing, fishing, hunting, hiking or just experiencing the beauty of the Pennsylvania mountains, Buck Haven Lodge offers both convenience of location and enough privacy to enjoy your getaway.
The living area boasts a spacious, open floor plan. The kitchen has large appliances including a full-sized refrigerator, propane stove and oven, and microwave. Small appliances such as a coffee pot and toaster are available, as well as a generous number of other items to ensure you have everything you need to prepare and enjoy a meal, such as pots, pans, bakeware, serving utensils, plates, cups, eating utensils, etc. The living room has enough seating for everyone with a couch (which is a sleeper sofa that can accommodate extra guests), loveseat and a recliner. For those chilly nights in the mountains, guests can enjoy the propane fireplace. There is a flat-screen television with Dish Network and WiFi, as well.
There is a spacious, full bathroom with a commode, sink, and bathtub/shower combination. There are two bedrooms, each bedroom has a window looking out at the woods behind the cabin, a queen-sized bed and generous closet.
For those looking to relax by a campfire and enjoy the mountain air, there is a custom-made fire ring with swinging grates for cooking over the fire. There are also two Adirondack chairs at the front side of the cabin for guests to relax in while enjoying mountain views.
We’ve shared this property with so many of our friends and family and always enjoy our time. It’s one of the few getaways we aren’t ever ready to come home from. The location is close to everything you may want to visit, but removed enough that you are unbothered by other families nearby. The cabin itself has everything you need and is so clean, and the hosts are fabulous at communicating. We will continue to come back for more stays!
My husband and I had a great stay at this cabin. Awesome location close to the elk viewing center and another spot where we saw several elk gathered. Also convenient to state lands and parks where we hiked both days. Very nice interior with comfy couches and beds.
An overall great experience. Will definitely rent this property again.
It was easy to find, good location. There was enough space for both of us. The cleaning needs work. Slip guards in the tub. Other than that we would rent it again. We enjoy it there.
This was an awesome cabin! The wife and I spent the weekend with my parents. Perfect size for 4 people where it wasn't too crowded. Loved the location being 5 mins down the road from Bennezett. It was also pretty cool to see elk right across the road from where we were staying. All in all very nice place and would / plan on staying here again!
Had to pay $30 for bed linens. There we’re no bath towels had to go buy two. It said the cabin sat on 6 acres but the cabin was very close to the road. The land was all behind the cabin. There was no dish washing soap had to buy that also(took that home). We have stayed in many VRBO homes and this was the worse. The only good thing it was close to Benezzete.
Cabin was perfect for us.
Clean and comfortable accommodations. This house is close to the road but once inside it's very quiet. The location is perfect. Easy drive to the store and to view the elk herd.
Property is very clean, cozy and centrally located for elk viewing. I would recommend if going to Benezette to view the elk.
If you're looking for 6 acres around you, that is not what you get. The acres are directly behind the cabin, so don't expect privacy as we could have talked to the neighbor without shouting. The main reason for the low rating though was poor communication about the check-in process. Vrbo never sent us the access information, so I emailed Jennifer about it the night before our trip. (I waited thinking that maybe vrbo would eventually send it, they didn't). To make a long story short, we ended up in Benezette on our anniversary stuck at the gas station (the only place in the area with wifi) waiting over 45 minutes for a phone call just to get the access code to get in. When I spoke to Jennifer, she blamed me for not reading the information that I was sent, saying that some people just don't read. Believe me, I poured over the little information that I did get trying to see if I missed something. Not 2 minutes after I got off the phone, the information that we needed to get in, which she said she had sent the night before, magically appeared in my email with the sent time as the current time. Whether it was Vrbo's fault or not, you don't blame someone who just gave you a lot of money to rent your cabin for 2 nights. We will go back to Benezette for sure, but we won't be staying here or using Vrbo in the future.
