A couple's get-away in the woods.

Lovely, isolated cabin getaway, conveniently nestled between multiple state parks and recreation areas. Well stocked kitchen/laundry for easy functionality. Very clean and comfortable interior environment. Would return in a heartbeat if the following shortcomings were addressed: 1) safety concerns with lack of sufficient ballister spacing on staircase; 2) deficient, non-commercial grade gas grill difficult to light and in need of cleaning/repair/replacement; 3) poor and insufficient landscaping around the perimeter of the cabin made the immediate surroundings impassible, wet (almost drain swampy around hot tub decking), and messy (very limited access for pet potty breaks apart from gravel driveway). A small investment in professional landscaping would pay huge dividends in aesthetic appeal and functionality -- some better drainage, stone terracing, and some shrub/flower beds to create an inviting and functional 15' perimeter.

Property was beautifully laid out: lovely decor, well thought-out. Fave things include: tiny upstairs bathroom and balcony, well-stocked kitchen, great hot tub, nice nature trail, very secluded. Comfy furniture, tv with streaming options, wifi, gas and charcoal grills, plus sweet wood burning fireplace. Dug the place so much we rebooked!

This was a wonderful place that we enjoyed staying at. The driveway can be fun, but we have a 4wd truck, so it was not an issue. The cabin itself is very cozy. The only negative I could say would be that both the couch and bed have seen better days. They are both completely functional, just seem a little worn out.

We love the location in relation to the area attractions and dining options. If you prefer to cook for yourself, the kitchen is incredible and well equipped. The best we have ever seen. Several grilling options are available. Bedroom is upstairs but the bathroom with walk-in shower is downstairs and very accessible. Well maintained hot tub just outside the main entrance. Too much to like and list.

The cabin was lovely, but the deck/hot tub configuration has been changed since these photos were taken. The fire ring is also different and located on a gravel extension of the driveway. It was missing some of the niceties that we have come to expect from other cabins we have rented: robes, water bottles, snacks, and fire wood. Our biggest issue was that there was a power outage for most of our only full day there. We realize that this was out of the host's control, but when we alerted her to the situation, she did not offer any assistance. So we were stuck in a cold, dark cabin. We tried to use the wood burning stove, but there were no operating instructions, and the vents did not seem to be working, so the fire kept going out. If the power had not gone out, our experience would have been different, and we would have been mostly satisfied. Just don't expect any extras or assistance from the host while you are there.

We were very pleased with the property. There are a few maintenance issues that should be addressed, but nothing that affected the enjoy of our stay. The cabin was very clean and cutely decorated. Some of the wall decor were actually functional games. We really enjoyed the wood burning stove, hot tub and grilled out (yes, in the winter). Our host placed Valentine surprises in different areas. We would definitely stay here again!

As someone who has stayed at many short term rentals all over the world, and many cabins in the Hocking area, the Red Hickory cabin stands out. Everthing you could ever need is provided. The little things like labels on lights, abundant blankets, and hooks everywhere are so appreciated as a guest. Add to this the perfectly cozy and well laid out cabin and you have a 10/10. As a bonus, wall decor that doubles as playable board games was so fun!

Do not sit in the recliner!!! U will never want to get out of it your whole stay!

The host was responsive. The cabin was peaceful, clean and welcoming. We enjoyed the hot tub and playing gamea.

This cabin was perfect for a weekend away. The grounds were well prepared for our stay, everything inside was clean and organized and the driveway and areas around the house were cleared off from fall leaves. We loved using the fireplace and the kitchen was well equipped for our needs.

This was the best kitchen I have ever had at a vacation rental. It was well stocked with plenty of cookware. Stove and grill were great, easy to use and keep clean. Newer appliances, stocked with storage and hooks for convenience. The property is well kept and cozy.

Great place, even better than the pictures. This place has the best kitchen I’ve ever had at a vacation rental. It is clean and well thought out. I was afraid the loft bedroom would be hit but it wasn’t at all. The driveway is steep but also kind of fun and exciting to get to the charming secluded cabin in the woods that is out of a story book. 30 minutes away from hocking hills state park.

Clean, well-stocked, roomy, and everything we were hoping for!

An amazing secluded property. It was very hot when we stayed but the cabin was shaded by all the mature trees. We were able to sit on the deck and enjoy nature. The cabin is beautiful and the owners thought of everything. The only issue we had was the internet kept rebooting one evening, but it wasn’t really a bother as we weren’t there for technology, it was more about being disconnected and relaxing. The owner is very responsive. Would highly recommend this to friends and family. We would definitely rent this cabin again.

The house was perfect! Great location, far enough but not too far. I love that it was tucked in the trees up a hill from the main road. We took our dog and 2 year old, so distance from traffic was ideal. I was worried about my son on the stairs, but found the owner had a baby gate in the storage room! I love they were prepared!The deck has been adjusted, it caught me off guard at first, but the huge flight of stairs was removed, it only has two steps with the hot tub right outside the door. I really liked that adjustment, again because we had our 2 years old who still hasn't mastered stairs. Ideally it's a couples cottage as listed, but we don't need much space, we liked the coziness for our little family. More than enough kitchen amenities, two types of grilling, large hot tub, towels and blankets were all provided. The sofa had a pull out sofa which was perfect for movie night in the living room. There's a trail behind the house, unfortunately we didn't get to venture out much due to the weather. Really loved this place, highly recommend!!! (Forgot to take more photos before we left) Other than the deck adjustment, exactly as photos show in listing!I had a few questions while there, and the owner was very quick to respond and very helpful!

This place was exactly what we wanted! We were able to spend a few days away from home with our dogs. Communication and instructions from the host were clear and concise and we had a lovely time!

Upon arrival we were greeted with a property that was clean and well appointed with thoughtful amenities. The deck was very nice and the hot tub was clean and in good working order. The location was perfect as it was secluded but close enough to everything we enjoy in the Hocking Hills area. This is by far the nicest cabin we’ve stayed at in the area. We will definitely be returning.

This was our first time in Hocking Hills, and this property was the absolute perfect place to stay for it. Wonderful location where you have your own small slice of nature, but close enough to town to not be a hassle. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need, the hot tub was amazing, and it was very cozy. Definitely plan to be back!

We really enjoyed our Hocking Hills getaway at Red Hickory this week. The beautiful and well-equipped cabin was just the right size for me, my wife and two dogs. The peaceful and secluded environment made for some quiet and dark nights, just perfect for good sleep after some long days on the trails.

It was about a half an hour drive from the Hocking Hills hiking trails and a perfect little remote location in the woods.

The place was well equipped with utensils and cleaning supplies and what not.

Great stay overall. Driveway is a little steep though. Some drivers may not want to drive it. Other than that, top notch.

Was such a relaxing quiet trip with my husband, Hot Tub was so warm and nice. Everything you need!

The cabin was clean and provided EVERYTHING you could need. The hot tub was well maintained and extremely cleaned. Whomever your cleaning crew is, pay them more! They are killing it. The only suggestion....A new fire pit. Thank you.

It was amazing!

My wife and I wanted a quiet couple days together away from the hustle and bustle of life! The cabin was amazing! Secluded and romantic. The setting allows for complete relaxation in the hot tub and the activities. The owner was super responsive to any questions or needs. My only suggestion would be the bed was not as comfortable as it could be, but that pales in comparison to what the cabin has to offer.

We truly enjoyed everything! The location was great. The cabin was super cute and super well stocked! We decided that this will be the new “Our Place” for us. We plan to stay again and look forward to experiencing the cabin in the spring or fall!

Perfect retreat for a weekend. Had all the right amenities for a relaxing getaway into the woods. Location was pretty good as there were plenty of trails to explore within a short drive.

Great rental and such a quiet little spot. We enjoyed just hanging out together for the weekend and being close to trails to hike. Anything more than 2 adults wouldn’t be nearly as enjoyable, but you could make it work. Thanks again for hosting us!!

We did enjoy ourselves and the place was clean and the perfect size. A couple more towels and just a bit more lighting outside around the deck would have been an all around 10/10. Massively loved the fact the water didn't smell like well water and the cabin charm was perfection.

This was a perfect weekend getaway. Wildlife, woodsy, and all still close to a main road and other people.

Cozy cabin, perfect for a couples weekend getaway!

Secluded location. Cabin was nice. Negative: All kitchen cookware needs updated. No cabinet door where pots and pans were located on the bottom close to floor. Unsanitary. Curtain at dishes again dirty and unsanitary. Needs updating. Didn’t let us know the steepness of drive until check in. Kitchen needs major upgrade. Deck needs wood replacement and stained. Not worth the money.

Property was nice. Secluded location. Kitchen utensils, pots and pans, bowls, cookie sheets, etc…..ALL NEEDS REPLACED and UPDATED. Scratched, old, dirty looking. Drapes at dishes need taken down. That is dirty around dishes.

Great little relaxing cabin

From the minute we started up the long steep driveway we knew this was a special place. Secluded, quiet and such a beautiful cabin. The cabin was very clean and so nicely kept and decorated and had absolutely every amenity we could ever want. The hot tub was a bonus and felt so good after long daytime hikes. If you like to be a bit more isolated and remote but still only 20 minutes away from most of the trails and touristy areas, in our opinion this would be one of the best places to stay in the area

The driveway was definitely a little harder than expected but we managed. Very clean. Had everything you would need. Hot tub was great!
