Cabin is cozy but little thing dead mouse near door, bullets out back trash situation Owners do have a nice setup and you can see the love and attention they’ve put in the cabin there’s room for improvement air conditioning or vent fans a hot tub would fit nice an awning on sidedeck not just front I’m not sure if swimming in the not so nearby river is really an option when asking locals along the river they knew of no place to swim in it, rafting or boats yes but the water wasnt looking clean and signs were posted no swimming, but do not fret, there’s a community rec pool 17 min drive from cabin it was able to be found on google, but a lovely local woman told us where it was. This as pool is amazing $6 per person. An activity map from the area would have been nice on the cork board. The trash situation was the hardest part, so many bullets were fired at the trash can, they are set back from the house but we are not from pa, and burning trash is not allowed in our home state, with the size of our party and the photo evidence on the walls of bear activity, we were not prepared for amount of trash we generated and having a carry out policy if you go over direction, luckily we didn’t go over, as we burnt as much as we could, but a bear proof locked dumpster should be on the property away from the cabin but a shortly ride away. Over all we made the best of it and are leaving with treasured memories. And would do it again knowing what we were getting. Owner was upfront about all.
We rented for a church ladies retreat. The location of the property was beautiful. The driveway was a little tricky to navigate but the owner warned us ahead of time. Plenty of sleeping, gathering, and relaxing spaces. The water was a little difficult at times but to be expected for a mountain home. We really enjoyed the location and plan to return again with our children and families.
This was a family weekend and we all really enjoyed the property - lots of outdoor space to enjoy the beautiful sunsets. Fully equipped kitchen was perfect as was the use of the grill. Fun fire pit area. Plenty of parking. Comfortable beds and Karen was a great host providing all the information you would need and very responsive. We walked down to the river and floated around and it was a lot of fun! Thank you!!
Let's first start off by saying Karen is an amazing host. She was quick to respond and help with any questions and requests we had. Instructions of how to enter the property and what to do to turn on everything was very straight forward. The property is definitely a cabin on the side of a mountain. To us, that was just what we wanted. It is a mountain road to get in and while you can make it in a car it may be tricky for some. The outside was taken care of all with the exception of the grass being a bit tall. The condition of the cabin compared to the photos definitely show it is a 12 year old cabin but still in good shape. The inside is spacious enough for a large gathering without feeling like you are on top of each other. The layout was great and each bedroom felt very private. Everyone who stayed had a great time even with near record high temperatures for the time of year. A couple things I wish the cabin had would be a working range hood and some form of AC. The hood does not currently have a fan in it. Also if you plan on staying in the warmer months, plan on bringing a fan or 2 along. There are fans in each bedroom and 3 in the kitchen/living room. The bedroom fans worked fine but the one in the kitchen ( which probably would have helped a lot while cooking) functioned but was hitting the lights so we opted to not use it. Overall a great place for a rustic getaway and you won't find anywhere less exspensive for the number of people it can accommodate. We would definitely rent this place again.
Karen was available to answer any questions. Cabin had many helpful kitchen tools and utensils. The cabin was very spacious! There are blankets there to use, but make sure you bring your own pillows (pillows for sure) and blankets if you are the kind of person who has to have very clean sheets. I brought my own. Some friends didn't mind the sheets provided. Cabin could use some deep cleaning (such as cleaning the stove, couches and some of the walls) but I wasn't too picky about it. So this cabin was a good mixture of rustic and beautiful. After all, you're in a get away into a more nature focused area. We truly enjoyed this place and are planning on reserving again in the future!
Took our oldest daughter and fiancé for a weekend of games, laughs and relaxing before their wedding! Great rustic getaway. Owner was wonderful with communicating. The view was amazing!
The cabin was a bit dirty but the view and the setting is beautiful!
It was good but due to the lack of AC it was very hot
Overall, our group of adult family and friends had a wonderful time and enjoyed our weekend stay. I'll start with the outside since that is definitely this home's strongest feature. There is a lovely, large deck with lots of seating and a beautiful westward view of the hills and valleys. There are no visible neighbors so privacy is wonderful and no worry about making too much noise. The fire pit was fantastic and we used it both nights during our weekend stay. Nature is in abundance with all kinds of creatures....but our group loved it! We grilled a lot so having the new grill on the deck was perfect. As far as the inside of the home, I will say it was very spacious and open. There was plenty of sleeping space. The house is a bit antiquated when it comes to amenities. The furniture is aged and stained. The carpets are also aged and stained. The house overall could use a good cleaning, The bedding (pillows and blankets) is not in good shape and I think should just not be offered to guests at all. We were fine with all of our own bedding instead. Some of the flooring in the bathroom and living room seems like it will break through. But as I said, we spent our weekend outside enjoying the best features of this property. We also don't mind a few bugs and a little dirt within reason. The price was right so we were willing to accept some of the downfalls of the inside of the house. We had a great weekend and really enjoyed being together after this horrid pandemic! Oh, the driveway is a bit unnerving...steep, sharp turns, and some significant gullies. Be attentive! We would certainly return for another relaxing weekend.
I was really looking forward to a great football weekend getaway with my family and this cabin seemed like the perfect place for us all to stay. The views and the outdoor space were perfect. We loved the fire-pit and the ample porch space. BUT the cabin was uncomfortably filthy. The one shower is so tiny and moldy most of the women refused to use it. There are instructions for guests to clean and leave the refrigerator and freezer door open after turning off the power. Clearly nobody stops by to insure this happens. When we arrived both were closed. When opened the smell of mold and mildew was disgusting. We sprayed the refrigerator with bleach and vinegar but didn't feel comfortable putting our food in it so kept food and drinks in coolers on the porch. The commercial stove was grimy and gross. Dirty coffee cups were put away in the moldy cabinets. The furniture is torn and dirty. We brought our own sheets, blankets, pillows and towels and I'm glad we did. The comforters and pillows that were available look like they haven't been washed in years, if ever. Most mattresses thankfully had plastic covers, but not all. I should have known that the price for 7 bedrooms was too good to be true. The sad thing is that I would have gladly paid more to rent this cabin if it were clean and well-maintained.
