CHALET DESCRIPTION:
Pisgah #1 is on the left side of the duplex with its own entrance and private deck off the back of the townhouse. Pisgah #2 is an identical 1200 square feet 2bed/2bath 2-story townhouse on the right side of the duplex, also available for rent on VRBO. Pisgah #1 and Pisgah #2 share a private gravel parking area that can park 2-3 cars.
Although Pisgah #1 has not been fully renovated since it was built in the 1980's, the townhome is very clean, well maintained, and decorated with hand crafted art created by a local artist to give Pisgah #1 a "Pisgah National Forest" theme. We have also added amenities like brand new flat screen smart TVs, newly stained decks, high speed internet, and split heating and cooling units in each room, since the original Chalet did not have air conditioning (stays pretty cool in the summer at 3200 feet).
First level: The first level of Pisgah #1 has a living and dining room that you walk into upon entering the townhouse. The living room has seating for 5, a wood burning fireplace, 55-inch flat screen TV, and unobstructed 50 miles views through a large window looking out to the mountains! The living room also has an open ceiling opening up to the second floor with large wood beams. Off the living room is a very large deck looking out to one of the best unobstructed views in North Carolina! In fact you can see all the way to Tennessee! The deck has seating for 6.
The first level also has a fully stocked kitchen with stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and everything needed for cooking. Off the kitchen is a full bathroom with toilet, sink, closet, and bathtub + shower combination. The first level also has a bedroom with a king size bed and a chair looking out to the amazing mountain views. The bedroom also has a 43 inch flat screen smart TV. This bedroom also has access to the first level bathroom.
Second level: As you go up the stairs to the second level there is one bedroom and one bathroom. The bathroom is only accessed through the bedroom. The bedroom has 2 twin beds, a seating area looking out to the beautiful mountain views, and a full bathroom with sink, toilet, and tub + shower combination. The bedroom also has a 43 inch flat screen smart TV.
Pisgah Chalets (Pisgah #1 and Pisgah #2) are the most private of all the Chalets in Alpine Village, with their own private gravel driveway and gravel parking lot. In addition, the Pisgah Chalets got its name because where the property line of the Chalets ends, the Pisgah National Forest begins! And there is a hiking trail 50 feet from the Chalet where you can access the Pisgah National Forest and hike to the top of Mt Mitchell (the highest peak on the East Coast).
If you love the outdoors and the mountains this is the place for you! Within just a few miles of miles of the Chalet are some of the best hiking and most beautiful scenery on the East Coast!

*Seeing that Alpine Village sits at 3200 feet elevation on the top of a mountain ridge it is worth noting that the last mile or so to the Pisgah Chalets includes a steep mountain road. You can't get 50 mile views without some steep mountain roads! But on the bright side the road is totally paved and in great condition. Not a big deal once you do it once. Our driveway is gravel but everything else is paved.
**Pool and clubhouse only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Very nice place. Just as advertised. Very good location for us because we wanted to explore Mt Mitchell. Very pleased over all. Would stay again.
Very nice stay and enjoyed the autumn weather as well as watching the leaves change color. Every aspect of the accommodations was excellent.
Beautiful location! The two lane road has lots of twists and turns as expected. The unit we stayed in was Pisgah 1 and was somewhat difficult to get to. The unit is old and needs to be updated.
The location and view from Pisgah #1 was AMAZING! The issues I had were 2 things. 1.) It was dirty and had flies/ nats everywhere, including counter tops. 2.) It smelt like musky dog. My allergies, and everyone in my family had allergies, the whole time. This includes difficulty breathing, runny nose, and coughing a lot. I'm not sure if there were animals in the unit previously or mold in walls.
The reality of the amazing views from this property were even better than the pictures. Quiet place with all the amenities we needed.
Amazing views of the Pisgah National Forest and valley below. Unit is a bit dated (master bathroom ventilation fan doesn't work) but has its own charm. Great for families, beautiful views from the community swimming pool
Wonderful time at Pisgah 1 which is in a wonderful location to hike, explore along the Blue Ridge Parkway, close to Burnsville and 1 hr to Asheville. The unit was well appointed with comfortable beds, kitchen with all new dinner ware, pots, pans etc. And the best part was the view from the balcony, you didn’t need to leave to find a more beautiful sight. Can’t wait to go back .
Loved our stay at this property. Wonderful view! Nice clean property. Would definitely recommend.
We are so glad we found this hidden jem! The vew is sureal! The property is clean and well maintained. It had all neccessary supplies, even shampoo and laundry detergent. We stay often at cabins in the mountains and this was more than we expected. The location is perfect for hiking and close to Mt. Mitchel. There is heated pool during summer months where we spent time every day.We had a great time. It wad hard to leave.
Spent 3 nights. Wish it could have been more. Great views from the deck and inside the house. Made day trips to Lt Switzerland and Mt Mitchell. Very close to parkway. Best part was sitting on deck in the mornings and evenings. Great views and very peaceful. We will return again.
From the moment I pulled up to the property, it brought back memories of our chalet in the White mountains of New Hampshire where I grew up. The property was clean, and my two younger sons immediately started exploring the woods. They enjoyed the pool and the game room, but especially enjoyed the visit from the mother and baby black bear our second night. We were able to view them on deck has they foraged below. We were able to do a day trip to Asheville as well as hit several fishing holes while we were there. Will definitely be returning.
Every morning my niece insisted that we eat breakfast on the rear deck. She was in love with the 50-mile mountain view. It was amazing. We watched fireworks from golf clubhouse on this deck on July 3. This rental is well designed with modern conveniences. There is chestnut wood on living room walls. Thought the kitchen was simple and easy to use. Everything nice!
Our family spends a lot of time camping and hiking up and down the Blue Ridge Parkway and every once in a while we stay in a cabin. This chalet was perfect for our family of six with four kids under 7. The location was perfect and we were about 30 minutes from Mount Mitchell where we completed a 3 mile hike and the other day we drove to Roan Mountain for the Rhododendron Festival. The rhododendrons were beautiful this time of year. We were bummed that the pool wasn’t open yet for the summer.
The chalet is wonderful and the view breathtaking. I wish my stay was longer!!
The view was amazing and the cabin was very clean. Great location if you plan on doing hikes in the area or just want to enjoy some quiet time. We did several hikes and the cabin had one of the best views out of them all. Didn't want to leave!
