★ OTHER THINGS TO NOTE ★

Please note that this log cabin is 170-years-old. It's been well-cared for and offers plenty of cozy charm but does have characteristics of a historic home such as bumpy flooring, uneven stairs, and the occasional draft if it's cold and windy outside. In the winter the house is heated by the gas fireplace and electric space heaters so this may not be the best fit for guests who have balance issues or unsupervised children. In addition, we are located in the woods, the property is treated but there is a good chance you might see a bug or two in the warmer seasons!

The log cabin house does have some charm. The kitchen is mostly nice. The bedrooms each have a king bed. All good things. But for us, there were too many small negatives that added up. The biggest issue was that the upstairs smelled like... septic tank. We knew about the uneven floors from the listing. But a few boards are now a tripping hazard. The internet was always either out or painfully slow. The light bulbs need help. Several light bulbs were out. Others are harsh. Others flicker often. One fixture had 3 different bulbs. The dishwasher had fallen out of its harness and was bouncing around. The screen room is missing half of its screens. Most of the windows don't open. The few that do are missing screens. The upstairs was hot even though it was chilly outside and we turned off all the heat. The upstairs bathroom sink does not fully drain. Working the TV was guesswork. We never could figure out the volume. The property is not really secluded. It is behind a self-storage that has a lot of junk on the property. And you have a neighbor's house close to one side. This neighbor has an obnoxious outside light that blasts the screen room/yard/firepit making them unusable. If the owner spent a week fixing up these issues, it could be a nice place.

Excellent location!! The property is absolutely charming and is every thing you could want from 170 year old log cabin. So close to Grandfather Mountain. We loved sitting by the gas fireplace. The screened in porch was an excellent place to eat dinner. Had an issue with streaming services on the TV but the host responded immediately and worked with us to get the matter resolved so we could watch our favorite shows after exploring Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk. Would definitely stay again!

The cabin the adorable they weather was so cold it caused a few issues. This charming little home has so much character and great views of Grandfather Mountain. The hosts were very helpful and communicated appropriately. Such a great week celebrating my hubby's birthday while visiting our boys in college. Cabin has security issues any window and back door are not secure. Drafty cold and there's animal running through the rafters all day and night. Very disappointed with surroundings. No nice view. We looked at back of storage units and garbage thrown in ditch. I thought there were standards with VRBO but this was overpriced and very disappointing..

Even though the weather wasn’t great, the cabin was clean and cozy. Screened in porch was so nice to just sit, read and enjoy the rain. We were hoping to get to use the fire pit outside but winds prevented that. Will keep this on our list of places to stay in the future.

This cabin is so unique and charming! We enjoyed listening to the rain on the tin roof swaying on the screened in porch swing. The fire from the gas logs and the comfortable couches provided a perfect place to relax and unwind at the end of the day. The location to hiking trails, good restaurants and snow tubing couldn’t be beat. We thoroughly enjoyed our mountain getaway!

My husband, my two old labs, and I stayed here for a weekend getaway! It was perfect!! We were close to all the ski hills. The house was so cozy and clean and came with updated amenities. The house's location is wonderful for convenience and inclement weather; snow hit fast Sunday night and with the house not being on a steep incline, etc. like most rentals in the mountains it was very easy to enter and leave!! Shelley was a wonderful host and so fast to respond!

We visited this cabin for our youngest’s 2nd birthday, and our first overnight trip as a family of four. It couldn’t have been more perfect for us. Our toddlers love watching Little House on the Prairie, and they really thought we were staying at “Laura and Mary’s” cabin. We were only about a 20 minute drive to the sledding hill at Beech mountain, and close to lots of dining options. We lived in a historic home, so the “character” in this cabin didn’t bother us at all. If you’re averse to uneven floors and drafty windows, this isn’t the place for you. We all loved it, and the baseboard heating and fireplace kept us warm. My oldest wants to come back for her birthday!

Nice cabin but located behind a rental storage facility right off a main road. From the pictures and land description, you get the impression it is located in a more remote setting. Host accurately referenced this is an old cabin and if there was cold weather it could get a little chilly inside. That’s exactly what we experienced but it was much colder downstairs than what we would consider chilly. We enjoyed our visit.

My husband and I so enjoyed our stay in this cozy cabin, and the rich history of it was not lost on us! This is truly a one of a kind stay! I do think that solid curtains in the bedrooms would do better to block out the yard/street light and make for better rest. Overall, it was a wonderful stay!

Overall decent little cabin location mared by storage units in front of the property, never mentioned in the ad. Was a little bit noiseyfrom the business. Overall cleanliness was good, check in and out was quick and easy. A leaf blower would have made his a literal home run but wasn’t horrible. The floors are part of the charm of an old cabin. These are CHARMing no doubt lol.

The cabin was clean, fully stocked, comfy beds. The yard needed some attention and porch areas. Cob webs, old wet rugs, debris from the trees, dirty windows and screens. Both bedrooms need black out curtains or shades to sleep better. Location was not on a flowing creek and the fish smell was noticeable.
