The Montana Cabin was completely restored using reclaimed barn doors and patchwork quilt hardwood flooring that came from old churches, schoolhouses, and other older homes in the area. The hickory kitchen cabinets are filled with all the amenities needed for our guests to enjoy a scrumptious, home-cooked meal. There is a wood burning pot bellied stove that guests can use to warm up with during winter months while snuggling on the couch. Follow the wooden staircase to the cozy lofted area with two Queen-sized beds where the floors and A-frame ceiling are covered in the beautiful, restored hardwood flooring.

Step outside each morning for a morning coffee before the birds start chirping to hear the unearthly quietness of the forest. Throughout the day, explore the unknown at the nearby State Parks. Come back to enjoy some flamed grilled food.

The wrap around porch is pure bliss. There is a small fire pit around the back where our guests can enjoy time underneath stars around a crackling, warm flame. To end each evening, guests can relax and unwind in the circular Jacuzzi that is tucked away on the corner of the wrap around porch.

There is no way to communicate with the property managers after business hours. We slept in our car outside the cabin because there was no key in the lock box like we were told there would be, and there was no way to tell anyone until the office opened the next day. Honorable mention: the staff was kind and apologetic, a full refund was received, but we will not use this company in the future.

There are exposed mothballs stuffed into floorboards, walls, and just sitting out on window sills. All moth balls were exposed to open air and not in containers (must be sealed) creating toxic vapor and pesticides to leak through the whole cabin. The vapor made the cabin unbearable. Within 20 minutes we were coughing and nauseated by the chemical exposure. I brought a small child with me and exposed moth balls are extremely toxic to all but especially small children. I brought this to their attention the clear warning labels that come with mothballs and the warnings from poison control but they were dismissive stating it’s their common practice in cabins to improperly use mothballs and create dangers for the renters and their children. We canceled the trip and they refunded our money after I refused to accept this known carcinogen to be actively misused during our stay. They refused to take accountability for this toxic mistake or change their practices. Renters beware.

As soon as you step in the cabin the smell of moth balls is overwhelming. If you plan on spending any time in the hot tub or by the fire pit be prepared to smell the septic tank the entire time. The wifi was not available at all during our two night stay which was unfortunate as we we would have liked to watch some movies at night. Also all the laminated rules throughout the cabin took away from the relaxed vacation feel. Not at all what we expected for the price we paid.

The cabin itself is undeniably cool—if you like historic, rustic properties, this 1800s cabin in the woods definitely has character and a beautiful, quiet setting. However, there were a few… memorable aspects of the stay. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was the smell. The cabin had an extremely strong mothball odor the entire time we were there—somewhere between mothballs and burning tires. We actually ran out to buy candles to try to mask it, which unfortunately didn’t help much. After looking around, it became clear why: mothballs appear to be packed into virtually every crack and crevice of the cabin—along the walls, in floor gaps, everywhere. It honestly felt like every square inch had one tucked into it.There was also a very active mouse population. We heard them every night and saw them inside the cabin (including one that ran across my feet in the bathroom). To be fair, this is an 1800s cabin in the woods, so we tried to chalk that up to the rustic setting. When we returned the key and mentioned the smell, we were told maintenance had spread mothballs because there is apparently a SNAKE problem at the property. That was surprising to learn at checkout. Also worth noting: the backyard had a noticeable sewage smell during our stay.Future guests may want to bring airtight food containers—and a strong sense of adventure.

Great little cabin! We stayed here for my 40th bday and it was really nice. They even came and switched out the tv to a smart tv so we could watch the Bears game. The hot tub was perfect, I loved watching the snow fall whie soaking. Overall a nice vacation, we will be back!

The Montana cabin was so clean and cozy. Everything the listing had was accurate. Even the rainy stay we had was enjoyable because we were nice and close to several antique malls which we really enjoyed. We had a romantic weekday stay and would recommend coming to this cabin.

Secluded but still close enough that you can drive into town for necessities. Beautiful spot in the Hocking Hills located near several parks. The hot tub is super hot and takes some getting used to so be careful. Once you're in it it's so relaxing. We did notice a slight sewer smell as others have mentioned but there were some very hard periods of rain while we were here and the smell wasn't overpowering at all. Also the little trinkets and notes left by other guests were so much fun to look at. We will definitely be back!!

Contacted mgmt twice on some issues, was told they would be addressed and twice nothing done and no communication back that they were unable to complete, just dead silence. Love the cabin, but has mice, asked for a trap and also asked for a working mixer. Large ruts in steep driveway from recent rains, just asked them to fill in, yup nothing. Disappointed in lack of customer service :(, they were so good at calling before my stay. Great Customer goes a long way if you put a little effort into it!

The cabin is nice, thought there is not really any yard space. Also, the check-in and especially check-out were inconvenient because going back into Nelsonville to the store was 30 minutes out of the way for me. Upon arrival it wasn't too bad, but as I was leaving to head home, it was quite inconvenient to go the opposite direction in order to turn the key in. Also know, if you are planning on multiple people the beds are both upstairs, and they are in one big room. This didn't matter because I was alone, but from the pictures I thought it was multiple bedrooms.

First I want to say the cabin itself was very cute, location was pretty secluded, very quiet. Now for the downfalls. The description says smart tv/cable/satellite. I assumed that meant it had one. It didn't, very old TV, no Firestick or Roku. Not much for cooking knives, no toaster, very tiny coffee pot. Beds were extremely uncomfortable, during the 1st night we went downstairs and slept in the recliners. While the cabin was small and cute, previous renters have left trinkets, notes, beer cans, wine bottles and such everywhere in the cabin, throughout all the cracks in the wood, everywhere. I thought it looked trashy, but from reading the reviews other people enjoyed it.A note said to keep pets off the bedding and furniture. I thought that was obserd since it's a pet friendly cabin (we didn't bring our dog, and glad we didn't after seeing that). The parking area is huge which was great for turning around, but it lacked stone and was nothing but a giant mud pit. The biggest issue was the sewage smell. My fault for not researching or asking about it after I read the 1 review I seen about it which was dated September 2024. I assumed it was fixed by now because the cabin had so many 10/10 reviews before that and since. After smelling it myself I went back to the reviews and found MANY complaints dating back to 2021. So they have zero interest in fixing it. That is unfortunate because we couldn't use the hot tub because of the smell. We couldn't go outside at all.

We had a great time. The place under promised and over delivered. It is very secluded and quiet, which is hard to find! Beautiful cabin in the woods. Perfectly clean and well stocked. I will say that the mattresses could use an update. They are very very soft/worn out. But that’s the only complaint.

The cabin was nice and clean. We reported that the hot tub blew the breaker when you kicked on the jets on Monday. Still wasn’t fixed and there was no communication about the issue with us throughout the week, including Friday when we checked out. The outdoor gas grill had burner tubes that were rusted out and was not usable.

This was our second stay at this cabin. During our initial visit in 2023, I detected a sewage odor emanating from the backyard close to the fire pit, but since we didn't use the fire, I chose to overlook it. A year later, however, the odor had intensified to an unbearable level, significantly detracting from our ability to enjoy the fire. I’ve been informed by others that this issue can be rectified, which raises questions about why it remains unresolved.

Loved the cabin! So much character! We loved all the little notes left by others. The hot tub was very hot. There were so many flies. The furniture was comfortable. It was a relaxing get away. Could not log into WiFi. Well equipped kitchen. Nice bathroom! Gotta be careful on those stairs to the bedroom. We would definitely return!

The cabin was really nice as advertised. We enjoyed the location very private. It was clean and comfortable. The biggest problem with our stay was the septic system and sewage smell and we could not get away from it. If you took a shower, got even worse. So we could not use the fire ring in the outside amenities. so on the property, we were restricted to the cabin.
