Conveniently located in the heart of the upper peninsula just minutes from Pictured Rocks, Lake Superior, dozens of waterfalls and endless outdoor activities and adventures. AuTrain River Cottages are located in a private association that is quiet and beautiful. There is about a 100 yards of river frontage to enjoy and relax next to. Cottages are pet friendly and range from one bedroom to 4 bedrooms and can accommodate from one to 8 guests. Each Cottage has all amenities included like WiFi, towels, linens, blankets, pillows and cooking supplies. There is a fire-pit area for guests to enjoy a fire w/a view of the river and wood can be purchased locally. Also included is a gas grill w/propane, and one free standard kayak rental from Da Ya Shak. Launching of the canoe is on site and shuttle service is available. Additional kayaks are available for rent. A fishing boat w/motor are available to you on site for a discounted rate. Mooring your own boat is a possibility, contact me for details.

DA Spruce is a bigger one bedroom Log Cabin. The original part of the cabin is nearly 100 years old and was added on to in the 50's. The old logs are still in tact and make for a very authentic feel inside. This place is perfect for a couple, or a small family. The kitchen is fully stocked and has a dining table for 4. There is A/C, WiFi, and a 42 TV where you can sign into your own streaming service or free streaming included with the TV. There is a queen in the bedroom and two futons in the living room, with plenty of room to move around. Cabin could easily accommodate 4 adults. New in 2017, a large bathroom was installed with a 36 shower stall and adjoining closet area for guests luggage and gear. 2016 was it's first rental season in 25 years, and since people couldn't have been happier. If you want to step back in time but have modern amenities available, this is your place!

The AuTrain River provides excellent swimming, and canoeing/kayaking as it winds 12 miles through the Hiawatha National Forest. Further down river puts you into Lake Superior and quite possibly the best beach on all of Lake Superior. Up river is the beautiful AuTrain Lake which provides a wonderful place to enjoy water sports, fishing or just a relaxing cruise. Bass, Walleye or Pike are your most commonly fished.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore located in Munising is only 15 minutes away and there are over a dozen waterfalls within a 30 mile radius. The National Lakeshore provides days worth of outdoor activities. If you are into fishing, Trout and Salmon are the most commonly fished in Lake Superior.

I have seen nearly everything in this area and am a great resource during your stay. I will meet with you after you arrive and give you advice about the area and things you can enjoy during your vacation.

Rustic cabin but comfortable. The location is on the river as well as close to the lake and nearby attractions. For the price, it was well worth it.

Cute little cabin! Perfect for one or two people, but I don’t think I’d try to fit any more than that! A bit out of the way, but not far off a drive into Munising, an hour from Marquette, 30-60 minutes from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, depending on what end you start exploring from. Only issues I had with the property were that the coffee maker needed to be cleaned well before I made coffee (bugs floating on top of the water once the reservoir was filled) and the cloth futon really needs a cover (you could feel the dirt and grime on the cloth as soon as you touched it!). Other than that, it was an adorable little place, nice and quiet and private.

It was so much nicer than staying in a hotel room. Everything was stocked, very spacious.

We never received any email from the owner with check in instructions. When we got there we had no idea that was unlocked and there is no one onsite to help. The cabin literally sits about 100ft off the many highway in the back yard of a privately owned home. I found tacos in the oven when I opened the door, who knows how long they had been in there! It has been a whole week and I still have not received my damage deposit refund. I would not recommend this particular cabin.

I just love this little cabin! This was my second stay here. Clean, comfy bed and pillows, all of the rooms are a good size, kitchen is very well stocked!! The location is great...very close to Munising amd Pictured Rocks! My boyfriend and his son came with me this time and they both loved it as well!

I can't begin to express how pleased I was with this cabin! It was EXACTLY what I was looking for! I have been to the area frequently but have only camped Pictured Rocks and stayed in Munising. I was pleasantly surprised at how close to everything this actually was. Love that Lake Superior is right down the road too...it means I didn't have to miss any sunsets! The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything I needed in both the kitchen and bathroom. It was nice and quiet at night. This place felt like home to me - I will be back!!

The cabin was everything we needed for our stay. It was centrally located to many waterfalls, hiking trails, Lake Superior, and great food. We especially enjoyed the Brownstone Inn. Cory was a wonderful host. His suggestions were very helpful. His giant “notebook” of places to go and see made our choices of where to visit and hike much easier. I highly recommend a stay. I’m a professional Santa Claus and Cory’s cabin is 100% Santa approved

The little cabin was ok for a few nights stay. When we arrived the grass was tall weeds. The owner did have it trimmed immediately which made it look much better. The nights were pretty cold so we had to use the gas heater which at first wouldn’t light. The owner came to light it and it worked. However, there was a gas odor so we had to vent by keeping windows cracked open. The microwave is on top the refrigerator which made it pretty hard for me to use.All in all, probably better in the warmer weather. It is a pretty area to spend a few nights.

We enjoyed our time staying in this rustic, but updated property. It was close enough to the local sights but just enough out of the way to enjoy the peacefulness.

Looked the cozy feel of cabin, close enough to town and falls..but, far enough away to not be too crowdy. Loved how many falls and sites were close enough to see.

The Spruce was a rustic and old school accommodation in all the right ways. Very well maintained. This is the kind of place your grandparents would have vacationed in back in the day, but with modern amenities (streaming TV, wifi, etc.). It really felt like a portal back in time. If that's your target vacation stay, you'll be happy with the digs. The cabin was tastefully decorated and comfortable. It'd be a good fit for a couple and 1-2 kids. Very close to the Au Train river, with the Au Train lake and town a stone's throw away. The property owner was also very responsive with communications without being overbearing with check ins. The sweet spot. We are already looking forward to a return trip late in the summer.

Overall the stay was good and we liked the cabin with some small problems. We arrived at the agreed upon check-in time but the cleaning crew was still there. So we had to check-in an hour later because we had to wait for the cleaning crew. There were holes in the wall that you could see inside the bedroom from the living room and bathroom. The gas range was leaking gas and the whole cabin smelled like gas. I had to reach behind the stove to turn off the gas supply line. I was worried we might get blown up! So we were not able to use the stove which was a bummer since we planned on using it. There were too many issues and we don't plan on coming back.

The listing for this cabin is accurate. It is a 100 year old cabin, but it is very functional and comfortable for 2 people to stay. From where the cabin is located it is very easy to access the Au Train river or go to Munising or Marquette for activities or restaurants. There are also plenty of hiking or biking trails in the area. We will definitely be coming back to this area.
