Stayed Jan 1, 2026Did not stay there- house was poorly maintained, listing misrepresented.Non functioning appliances, no light bulbs in poorly functioning light fixtures, listed as 3 queen bedroom’s, when 1room was in fact a dorm style loft with plumbing lines running above the beds. The real problem was mold, the odor was instantly apparent on arrival and unfortunately, my allergy to it made staying there even an hour impossible.very disappointing!

Stayed Jan 2, 2023The Whale Cottage was the perfect accommodation for us to stay in Hermanus while showing my family the town where I grew up. It is centrally located within walking distance to great restaurants and shops. Only two blocks from Fick Restaurant at Fick’s pool! Rob, our host is easy going and made sure we had everything we needed. He always responded quickly when we had a question. The home is comfortable with a well equipped kitchen, great bedrooms and a romantic loft room. We loved the host’s sense of humour reflected in objects around the house. (Where did you get the peeing dog door stopper, Rob?). We’ll stay there again when visiting Hermanus. Thanks Rob!

Stayed Dec 23, 2022The ideal cottage for a family getaway. 2 blocks to the seafront and 2 blocks to town. House doubles as the Surf school so activities can be booked from the owner. Great value if you like authentic historical charm.
