At the Primrose Bed & Breakfast, guests are welcomed to a beautiful peach colored home with a large, spacious front porch with a porch swing. This 1892 home was built by Dr. Isaac Porter Primrose. It was once his doctor’s office and the home to his family. After being a residence for over a century, the home was completely restored as a beautiful Bed & Breakfast. The Primrose House, along with the Hyde House, are two of the oldest homes in Nelsonville.
Upon entering the home, guests will notice the gorgeous oak trim, hardwood floors, colorful stained glass transoms, original kitchen cabinets with marble countertops, and the beautiful antique stove/oven. There is a dining area where homemade breakfast is served each morning, a sitting room where guests can play a game of chess, and lovely outdoor spaces with patios, decks, and a beautiful botanical backyard garden where guests can spend time relaxing, unwinding, or enjoying a take home meal from a local restaurant.
Jennifer was our host for the weekend and did all the cooking. She even came in on Memorial Day and cooked us breakfast when she didn't have to! Our room was very clean and right off the main hallway. Had a great time and met some wonderful couples over breakfast. Didn't hang around the property much as we were very busy in the area. Next time we would use the hot tub which we didn't notice until we were leaving. The only odd thing is having to pickup the keys at the local Outdoor Adventure Pro shop in town, but it all worked out Ok. We had a wonderful time exploring the Hocking Hills region and would come back to this property in the future.
nice century home
Very impressed with everything about this stay. The house was beautiful, breakfast delicious. Great location. I would definitely stay again!
I liked the property. Breakfast not very much.
When we arrived at the place, we were told we needed to go across town to pickup keys - something we were NOT told about in any of the correspondence with the property owner. We picked up the keys but they were to another property so we had to go back and get the correct ones. Not a great start to our stay. The property was as described and the staff working there were really pleasant and hospitable.
Walking distance from”the square” where all the star brick sidewalks are. Bars restaurants and some shopping close by.
Awesome historical house! Easy check in, outstanding price, very large room. Tub drain didn’t line up and bathroom flooded all over the hardwood floors after each shower. Morning person making breakfast casually said “it’s been that way for months” Wait WHAT!? Months? 1 tiny mirror in the bathroom, if you have to dress for an event keep it in mind. Overall 6 out of ten. Would be 8 if not for the bathroom flooding which seemed to only bother me but I work in the insurance industry.
Clean & a comfortable bed!
Loved the Primrose garden room. The house was quiet and we loved hanging out in the common areas. Breakfast was good.
Everything was great and a very convenient location.
My husband and I needed time to just unwind this was a last minute booking. I needed to change the date of arrival and they we able to accommodate with the request. Our suite was comfortable and quiet. The house is beautiful, charming and clean. We came off season so not sure how it would be in the busier seasons.
My whole experience was amazing. Great breakfast and the most amazing hot tub. Very clean and beautiful. And this area was great. And easy to get around.
Great experience and will definitely be back!!! The breakfast was delicious, nice hot tub, great room, and exceptional hosts! We stayed in the primrose garden room and only had a few recommendations (quite a bit of dust/wrappers under the bed we noticed when checking to make sure we had everything, 1 of the towel rods was loose/could not be used and needs fixed, a 2nd trash can in the bathroom might be helpful since there’s a bit of distance between the bathroom and bedroom where the 1 small trash can was, and there was a few blue soap stains noted on shower curtain from previous residents). The neighborhood was quiet and we slept well during our 3 night stay! The owners were very friendly, attentive and accommodating! Excellent location. A hidden gem! We plan on coming back again soon!!
parking a little small , room ok , host was great , a little difficult to check in specially with the carnnaval in town . our next visit will probably be in a different town with more restaurant and closer to the activity.
We enjoyed a two night stay to celebrate our anniversary. The master suite was comfortable, spacious and exactly as advertised. The host was friendly and the breakfast was delicious. We would definitely book this location again and recommend it for an anniversary or honeymoon getaway.
The room was beautiful and spacious. The ladies who prepared our breakfasts were very friendly and helpful.
We loved everything about our stay on the property. The garden room is a perfect romantic getaway for a loving couple.
Primrose B&B is a cute historic home with easy access to hiking, biking, and other activities. The breakfast was amazing. Angel, the caretaker, made sure we were well fed before we set out on our adventures. The room was comfortable and adequate. Remember it is an historic home, so not perfect, but comfortable and inviting. The only recommendation we have is to make sure everyone has a key to the front door. It is possible to get locked out using the back door because of an original deadbolt with no key. Angel made a recommendation to the property manager before we left. The town has a very small town feel with friendly people. The bike trail is scenic and pretty flat. We enjoyed our stay.
