The place isn’t horrible but it also isn’t great. Very budget level, you get what you pay for. The futon is not usable as a bed- we’re taking rock-floor hardness. Be warned the stomping begins at 5am during the weekend. This isn’t your regular level of childhood rambunctiousness either. This kid was trying to break through the floor at one point I’m pretty sure they were using furniture to attempt to smash a hole in the basement ceiling. No sounds of reprimanding or reminders to be respectful to the guests staying downstairs.

The pictures of this property are far better than the pictures online. We arrived to broken fences, trash around yard and a shower chair sitting by the back fence. The walkway is very narrow so you do walk thru the grass with all of your things. Once you walk down the dirty carpeted stairs and walk thru the 2nd door, the floors are all spongy and some spots feel like you will fall thru. The towels and linens in the closet were just thrown in there. We weren't sure if they were clean or not. The towels and wash clothes were nothing short of sand paper-like. We bought all new linens and towels. If you are afraid of spiders, do not stay here. There are quite a few of those. The noise levels from upstairs was terrible from 6am until 8pm. The earplugs they left next to the bed were pointless. The running and jumping was so bad that one of the lights in the living area started to come down and all the lights went dim. It was as if they were bowling up there none stop. I understand kids and noise as I have 3 boys but there is absolutely no way they had any consideration or attempted to have the kids settle down. At the 2nd doorway, thru the light fixture, water started to pour thru! I messaged and called the owner. He said he knew about it and that it happens when they run the sink upstairs! Then he asked me to use towels to clean it up. I told him I was not going to clean it up and he came down a couple of hours later and cleaned the water up. The couch is not a pullout couch.

It was charming for someone with not a lot of money. Meaning the space worked. The full size bed didn’t have a box spring so you felt all the boards underneath the mattress. The floor wasn’t sturdy. Everything was mini from the fridge to the couch to the garbage can. You have to take your own garbage out after checkout. Great communication with the host and let us park in the driveway. Very small space.

This place was exactly as it showed in the pictures. There were 3 of us that stayed 3 nights and it was just fine for us. The host does mention up front that you may hear children upstairs and we did some in the mornings, but we are early risers so it did not bother us. We were gone all day and when we settled in for the night it was quiet. It is close to Salem and Boston. Check in was smooth and the host communicated very well. It was also nice to be able to park in the driveway.

The basement was okay, definitely feel like I was overcharged. The floor was sunk in in several areas. The air conditioner was a portable ac unit and was only located in the living room, so if you wanted to be cool in the bedroom you had to use the tiny fan they provide. There were spider webs in the bedroom, I would have expected a quick walkthrough before my check in to verify the cleanliness before allowing a guest in. In the living the couch is a futon, I woke up in pain everyday. Seemed like the cheapest futon you could buy from ikea. Plus it was covered in stains. Benefits of the place is the location was about 15 minutes from Salem and 25 from Boston. The bathroom was a decent size. There was a bottle of wine provided and beer in the fridge, I didn’t partake but the thought was nice. There was a separate entrance.

It worked for us, we personally didn’t experience much issue with noise. The place was fine, it was vaguely unclean. Many spots in the floor were caving in/ sunk into a shallow hole. Seems some were attempted to just be covered by rugs. Bathroom shower had some black mold and was generally gross. Only one roll of TP provided, seemed already used too. Kitchen was pretty beat up. Also advertised parking in the driveway, but a car was at the very end of the drive way our entire trip. Not a big deal, but if you advertise parking in the driveway then make it not possible it’s annoying. Bed was comfortable, couch felt like a literal rock. The entrance is also quite low, my wife hit her head and she’s about 5’ 10” and it was not a comfortable walk down for me either. Close to stuff mostly, short drive. Just not well maintained, kinda grimy.

The basement apartment was ok but the family above us made so much noise we couldn’t sleep. The only quiet time was from midnight to 5:30am. The rest of the time it was like living under a bowling alley. And the owner failed to inform us of this until we checked in, hence the ear plugs they left next to the bed.

The place was perfectly located in between Boston and Salem. The space was exactly what we were looking for. We are early risers so the noise from the above house did not disturb us. The space was clean and enough room for 3 adults.
