Stayed Apr 5, 2025The apartment has a lot of charm. The heating situation is another story. It was so cold in there, especially in the morning. We tried many different ways to get it warmer. The shower sprayed very hard but directly into the wall making it quite difficult to shower. Plugging in a phone to charge was a challenge to find plugs that worked.

Stayed Dec 28, 2021One of the worst stays I have had. In fact we left after the first night and just canceled our trip. It was 9°F outside and this place did not have proper heating. Couldn’t get the temperature over mid 50s. And that was in the three room that had heat. The rest of the apartment was not heated. One of the door handles was broken and several items, including the fold out bed, were taped together.

Stayed Aug 8, 2021Great little place snugged in the corner. Not too far from downtown Spokane or from other parks (within a 10 min drive). Place was nice and quite, perfect for a little get away. Some things to take-away from this review: -Apartment is somewhat old. Expect lots of creaky floor boards. We tried to be quiet as possible to not be loud to the neighbors down below but you it's hard to avoid the creaky floorboards. -Locks on the doors are old as well. Not the best locks to play with, but they work. -Doors to the apartment are not the safest installation. Glass door to get into the building from below and then a closet door to get into the apartment. I would've loved a possible regular house door with a deadlock bolt (The neighbor hood seemed quiet too so probably wasn't necessary). Closing thoughts would be that it's a very nice and one of the cheaper stays on here. I wouldn't mind renting it again.

Stayed Aug 14, 2020An outstanding stay. I traveled with my two adult children who both wanted to live in this apartment. It was close to my mom's house, spacious, and had everything we needed. I notice a previous reviewer had mentioned the windows opposite the shower--these have been covered (with a shade AND curtain). We appreciated being able to have breakfast each day in the kitchen as well as midnight snacks. We loved the deck with its view of the cathedral. I am *very* picky about linens and can report that the bedsheets were smooth and comfortable. We also liked being able to walk to Manito Park. We will stay here again.

Stayed Mar 16, 2019The property amenities were nice but the condition of the apartment was a bit of a hodge lodge. My biggest concern was the lack of privacy in the bathroom that looked straight across to other apartment windows. I hung bath towels over windows as a work around. The pull out bed mattress had some seriously gross stains. The front door would not close so we had to leave the place unsecured last night when we went out. I had to call the property owner for directions and access, no email received.

Stayed Mar 27, 2026Communication was great with owners. We had some issues the first day and worked through them. The location was GREAT. The refrigerator/freezer did not work. The wall heaters were tough to figure out, but the owners had portable heaters which made a big difference.

Stayed Nov 27, 2025There were no instructions to work the heat and they wouldn’t stay on so we were cold most of the time. We were told there was only one flight of stairs but there were two with a landing making one of our people have to stay elsewhere and making it hard on our other disabled people to get up. We were told there was two covered parking spots and only one car was able to fit due to the other tenants this caused us to have leave one of brand new cars out without being covered. Then at the end of our stay we were stripping the beds and found one of the mattress covers had blood stains on them. Washed or not nobody wants to sleep in anyone else’s bloody stained bedding.

Stayed Nov 16, 2025It served the purpose of a place to sleep and shower while my husband was in the hospital. The fridge/freezer however was not working properly. Our ice cream melted overnight in the freezer and our milk soured in the fridge in the time we were there.

Stayed Nov 14, 2025Everything was clean and things were simple, but nothing in the apartment was quiet. One of the problems with these older buildings, so there probably isn’t much that can be done about it. But if you’re trying to put kids or a baby to sleep, plan on going to bed at the same time. The floors make so much darn noise it’s near impossible to stay quiet to avoid waking others.

Stayed Oct 20, 2025Don't stay here!!! We were told check in was at 4 and we arrived earlier so I messaged the host asking if it was ok to go into the apartment. They didn't get back to me, no big deal. Went back a couple hours later and housekeeping was there, the women was very surprised and said she didn't know another party was coming. She had messaged the owner and they never got back to her. She needed at least another hour to clean, it was inconvenient but can happen. We left for over an hour, got back she was still cleaning. We sat on the couch while she finished. It was freezing in the apartment, we asked her where the heating was and she said it was broken, we all tried, nothing. She said there was something in the bedrooms. We turned on something on the wall and set the temp up, nothing. This fall in Washington, it was cold. She left after 6. The shower head was so caked over with mineral deposit it sprayed in crazy directions, the middle didn't work, it was really hard to take a shower. The remote to the TV didn't work, so we couldn't change the input to watch a Blu-Ray or turn the volume up when we found something on Netflix with the Roku remote, the volume had been turned down so low, no buttons the TV. The door to the balcony/decking was locked with just a chain, so someone could easily kick it in if wanted to. We spent one night there and left the next day. Owner didn't reply when I messaged him we left and why we left. Horrible.

Stayed Aug 16, 2025Pleasant 2nd level apartment. I would avoid if traveling with anyone with mobility issues because of the stairs and somewhat uneven ground around the buildings. But if mobility and stairs are not a concern, it's quite pleasant. Quiet neighborhood. Covered parking for 1 vehicle and we did manage 2 vehicles parked 1 behind the other (2nd vehicle was not under cover). The directions were good (google maps did actually take us where we needed to go, but the back up of detailed directions provided by the hosts was nice).

Stayed Jul 18, 2025Apartment was clean and in a good Location. We appreciated the designated parking space and excellent driving directions provided by the host. This is an old house but decorated nicely and had what we needed for the weekend. There are about 15 steps to get to the door as this is an upstairs apartment.

Stayed Jun 18, 2025The apartment was just as pictured. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. Convenient location to Manito and downtown. The owner did not respond once we were checked and there was no ironing board in the apartment (we were attending a wedding) but luckily I ran into the housekeeper who found one for me in another apartment. The washing machine in this unit is requested not to be used because it leaks but there is access to the laundry room in the basement. Unfortunately, the water pressure in both the bathroom and kitchen sinks was practically down to a trickle and the bathtub does not drain which is especially a problem when multiple people are showering consecutively.Recommendation: Little Euro cafe across the street was delicious with huge portions!

Stayed May 2, 2025Decsription indicates will sleep 7-8, and it will with a bit of flexibility. The description of the beds, other than in the bedrooms is a bit uninformative. There is a single fold out bed and two full size couches in the living room, we also found a single size foam pad and a mattress in the closets, and bedding. There are lots of closets and the old residence has been lovingly restored to maintain the old charm.

Stayed Dec 23, 2024Booked Sept 2024 for 10 days over Christmas. Unfortunately after 3 days the owner said he couldn’t fix the issues that kept piling up putting our vacation on hold for 3 days (including Christmas Eve Day & Christmas Day) trying to resolve our issues, then finding new accommodations. The first issue we had was checking in, the suite hadn’t been cleaned. We contacted the owner, who admitted that he forgot to schedule to have the suite cleaned. He sent someone out to clean the place, but we had to wait 2 hrs outside to check in. Once checked in, we found that the suite was in disrepair. (a badly leaky kitchen faucet and broken washing machine). The owner said he wasn’t able to get it repaired before we checked in. We all took tepid showers because of the faucet leak. There was a coating of grease in the oven that smoked out the entire suite. The suite does not sleep 8 people. One king, one queen, one foot ottoman that can be used with one twin mattress. That’s 5 people. The couch does not fold down per the VRBO description. The owner said he was having a handyman come to the property on Christmas Eve by 1 PM. When no one showed, the owner was going to send someone else out. By the time someone came out (it was not a professional plumber), the stores were closed. The owner offered to refund our money if we found alternative accommodations. Finding a new place on Christmas Day and cancelling this 4 month old booking was not a merry Christmas.

Stayed Sep 13, 2024Great little place. Vintage feel with modern touches. Fully furnished with great small amenities like bedding, towels, toiletries, digital entertainment with internet. Stayed cool, with great window air flow and a nice patio. Tried to to book two nights, but it only booked me for one - More of a VRBO issue but the communication with the owner was BAD. I immediately tried to text and contact the owner but they were so late with the reply (next day) that hope of adding a day or cancelling was to far gone. Sucked for us to have to scramble to find another place. Either way the communication with the owner was super slow. When we arrived, the front keypad door was wide open....so was the front door. Arrived late at night so you could imagine how my wife was entering the premise. I had to go through the whole house making sure there wasn't any bums or vagrants inside. She was very uncomfortable there after that and when we notified the owner it seemed like they thought it wasn't a big deal. Well it is SPOO-COMPTON, so anything is possible. Although this location is on a better side of Spokane it was still very uneasy for the first couple hours. Extremely hard to find, especially at night. There's nothing from anyside of the streets that indicate address or parking. The written directions are good but physical navigation was really hard. Overall, I'd say great visually but I don't think we'll be staying here again just based on communication from the owner.

Stayed Jul 7, 2024Great older house conveniently located in the heart of Spokane’s South Hill. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. I especially liked the large outside deck which was perfect for an evening beer and a book (I felt like I was in a treehouse!). The AC was able to keep up with 100+ temperatures during our stay. Great neighborhood for walking and just a couple of blocks from Manito Park. Hope to stay here again!

Stayed Jul 26, 2024The main thing that we disappointed with was the state of the deck, which was the reason we booked. I had to wipe down all of the deck furniture before we could use it. The BBQ was also a draw but it was absolutely filthy. I spent a good half hour wiping it down prior to us using it, plus there wasn’t adequate propane to cook a steak. The response to drop off more was excellent though. The rest of the unit was just fine. I’d suggest doing something with the shower tap as it’s hard to get the water to flow only to the shower head and the result is that you’re showering in ankle deep water.
