Mount Airy, North Carolina
Quaint, private space with separate entrance located in larger vintage home (circa 1915). This space is located on the upper level (must climb outside stairs to enter). Just a short walk to historic downtown, the Andy Griffith Museum, Wally's Service Station, Squad Car Tours, and the amphitheater. (Not ideal for handicap or disability situations due to entrance stairs)
Darryl was a great host for a very nifty apartment! We'll be back!!
This is a quaint, very clean and quiet stay. The bed was comfortable and the water pressure was amazing! I gave it 5 stars all around because I’d go back because it felt so homey. I didn’t care for the outside. It was a bit messy looking and the stairs were a bit much to get up to the apartment. We also found it difficult to sit at the table to eat because the chairs were too high. But not so bothersome to complain. Just would like to inform other travelers. The communication with Daryll was perfect. He responded quickly and we were able to get in without any complications. It is walking distance downtown which we loved! One of our best vacations!
We were traveling from SC to Ohio for our daughters wedding. Made it nice to break up the drive. The property took me back to my childhood visiting my grandmother.
Comfortable and quiet!
I had a great time in Mayberry!! The apartment was clean and cozy. Loved the vintage kitchen and bathroom. Also, the king size bed was excellent!! When in town, I would definitely stay here again. Thanks to the hosts for a wonderful stay!!
This is the perfect place to stay if you’d rather park your car and walk everywhere. It’s in a great neighborhood, the king size bed is super comfy. The apartment has a homey feel to it. We’ll definitely be back soon! -Jess&James 10/8/2023
The apartment was tidy, well decorated, carefully upgraded and quaint. The antique appliances stole. my. heart. They took me right backbit my great-grandmother’s kitchen. I loved this added touch. The bathroom was also uniquely designed. Amazing water pressure. The apartment was a bit musty smelling, but there were two adequate AC units that helped. There was also a lovely window in the bathroom that opened to help with ventilation after showering. The small couch is advertised to be able to sleep 1, but was extremely uncomfortable even for sitting/lounging. Overall, this was NOT enough to score poorly in my rating. Darryl/Durenda were quick to reply and very communicative. The only thing I can say that would be helpful for future guests, is maybe a book w/recommendations of local places to see and maybe some puzzles for quiet PM. For the town (these comments have no bearing on the hosts, whatsoever): Although we were in town for the beginning of Mayberry Days, we found the town itself to be lacking in activities that they boasted. The Mayberry-esque atmosphere of rolling up the sidewalks was true. You’re out of luck if you’re hoping for any activities after 7p. If you’re coming for Mayberry Days in the future, really investigate the appearances/activities. We traveled the short distance to Pilot Mountain and LOVED that. Mabry Mill, located in Meadows of Dan, VA is also absolutely worth the trip and well within driving distance to enjoy from this apartment.
Nice getaway
Our stay was great. We loved the place and enjoyed it very much. Was clean and comfortable. Would like to come again.
What a great place! This cute one bedroom was so clean and cool when we arrived! (Thank you for cranking the AC!!) My boyfriend and I did several hikes the day before and needed a place to relax, shower, and enjoy dinner and boy did this place deliver! The shower pressure is amazing, bed was comfortable and the details of the house were amazing. It was so retro and fun to look at how beautiful they put things together. The town was just a short walk up and had many options. I highly suggest the brews and homemade pizzas and salads at Thirsty Souls Community Brewing! Overall great stay. If we come back, we would for sure book again!
We had a fantastic time in Mt Airy, aka Mayberry! The rental property was located on a quiet street just one block from all the shops, attractions and entertainment. It was very walkable and the retro decor was a bonus for adding an authentic feel to the Mayberry experience. The rental was clean, very well furnished and we would definitely stay again!
Loved retro look
If you like new, modern and shiney - then not for you. If you want a Ritz - then not for you. If you want the yesteryears feeling and look (with old and new) and you want to be within walking distance of a quaint town center oozing of Mayberry and TV memories and you want an accommodating land lord, then this is for you!
The wife and I wanted a small quite place to get away for the weekend, and this was it!!!! We enjoyed the little town of Mt. Airy and all the Andy Griffith memorabilia. And the apartment was PERFECT! We really liked the old school fridge and stove
It was a beautiful vintage apartment just in walking distance of downtown. An easy place to get away, relax, and breathe for a minute.
Gorgeous little place. Nice neighborhood. Too cute of little town.
This property is awesome for a getaway to Mount Airy. It was so nice to be able to walk downtown. We had an excellent time and enjoyed our stay.
