First impression should have given me a clue. We walked in the door and the unit smelled musty and mildew. We purchased air fresheners and Lysol but that did not work. It was a late check in so we went to bed only to be awaken at 2:30am by a screaming woman cursing and claiming she was going to kill someone. The next morning I noticed ant traps on the kitchen counter. Obviously, there was an ant problem. That night we had a repeat performance by the woman at 3:30am. I contacted the management company and was told to identify the person and they would speak to her. We finally decided it was time to move and located a place where we had stayed previously. I contacted the host and informed him we were moving out and that he could rent the unit as we would not be back. We had 3 nights remaining on our stay. I was informed that if he could rent the unit we would receive a credit for the unused time. A friend stopped by the unit after we left and knocked on the door. A women answered and said she had been there several days. Obviously, the unit was rented again. I received a video from our friend who happened to be across the street at the Publix grocery store, it showed 4 police cars with lights flashing in front of the units. I have contacted VRBO and the host. Each claims the other is responsible for the credit. At this point in time I am not anticipating a credit but feel it is necessary to inform other potential tenants of our very unpleasant and unsafe experience.
