It was not a nice basement apartment. No way for guest to control the heat/AC. Dark. Mostly cement block walls and cement floors. I did not notice that in the ad pictures until after the fact enlarging the pics. The beds were said to be new. But not comfortable due to our back and hip problems. My husband and I did not want to stay and got a partial refund, which we appreciated. But basically we lost over $500. Certainly would not recommend this apartment to anyone.
Okay, if you are like me, you are reading these reviews and wondering what's wrong with this place? A three bedroom for such a low rate seems like a typo. There are lots of options in the Lexington area, but very few in this price range. Thankfully, this gentleman has duplex at a reasonable price. I read the one negative review and wondered what the truth was. For starters, to call this “someone's basement” is a bit unfair. You are renting the ground floor of a two family home. It has a full three bedrooms, each one with a queen size bed, living area and eat-in kitchen. To be completely blunt if you are looking for fancy, or lots of amenities, keep looking. There are lots and lots a very fancy rental properties in the area, most rent for about $500 per night This place is the exception. It is clean, simple and comfortable. Quite frankly, you just can’t beat the price! And the owner will talk with you DIRECTLY and even gives you his cell phone number.
I have never been disappointed by any of the other vrbo vacations we have went on but this was absolutely awful.. First thing you should know is you will be staying in someone ones basement. This would not be a huge deal for us if there were not a list of other things wrong. When we first walked in a God awful smell hit us that smelled like mold and mildew mixed with rotten oranges. The owner said that it had been a while since anyone stayed and that he had put scented things around to cover the smell and that maybe it was because they had just redone the septic. However even after driving to the store to get wax warmer to help the smell was enough to make you dread coming back after a exhausting day of fun. Next thing you should be aware of is that you do not get to control the temperature of the basement. That is left up to the person upstairs and it was so freezing that we had to buy blankets to stay warm and keep our jackets on while inside. Then last, but not least, the place looked like it was in the exact condition of whoever had stayed there last other than the trash was done and the beds were made. There was yuck all over the floor especially in the kitchen and bathroom like it had never been swept and definitely not mopped. The bathroom had hair all in the bath tub and hair and urine on the toilet and the floor again was gross. The owner did come and clean the bathroom but I ended up going and getting lysol cleaning products to clean because I knew the place was no where near sanitary and with the current covid crisis I am not to excited about sharing other people's germs. Oh yes and I forgot, I hope you don't want to sleep in at all because every morning I was awaken by the sound of an alarm going of non stop that was a part of the septic pump. All in all I have never been excited to leave vacation as much as I was this time. I have never left a review like this on anything because I'm a pretty easy going person but thanks to this place our vacation was miserable unless we were away from this place. I have never wished I had chosen a hotel before so that I could say I want my money back because I'm going to stay somewhere else but I surely did this time.
This was a perfect place for us to stay for a long weekend of hiking and touring the natural bridge and caverns. The kitchen had everything we needed for our meals, and the big table was perfect for game nights. There are some great restaurants in the area as well. The host is very helpful and easy to reach if you have questions also.
Quick getaway with the kids. Property was just what we needed. Beautiful area, location was perfect for accessing the surrounding cities to experience so much nature and history. Check in was simple, residence was accommodating with full kitchen, laundry, smart TV, and board games.
We enjoyed our stay very much. There is plenty of room to spread out. The location is ideal for activities at the Virginia Horse Center, exploring Lexington, and hiking in the area. Our host was at the property to welcome us and gave us great information about local restaurants and places to visit.
Process was very easy, Apt was definitely a nice suprise, great location close to all Lexington has to offer. Would recommend!
